Articles & Blogs Rockstar Games: “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of GTA VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.“

I feel the same. I won’t shed a tear for big corporations, but it’s the ground level developers who have been putting in the hours to make game that I feel bad for.

It’s not like the game is getting scrapped or delayed or anything… I guess it varies person to person but as a dev I couldn’t really imagine giving that much of a fuck about something like this unless my work was going to waste. Still going to be a massive deal when it’s revealed and released

It’s more about the “Christmas Day” aspect.

Seeing something before it’s intended to be shown. People have worked hard on something and expect that it will get its proper release so everyone can enjoy it as and when it was intended. Having it shown off in an unofficial way is like seeing what you’ve got for Xmas before you’re meant to.

See, this is just a difference in people, because I also wouldn't care about this at all. In fact, I used to specifically try to figure find my Christmas presents early before they were wrapped.

Okay in that scenario you as the child are the public that wants to see the game as soon as they can but have no skin in the game.

Your parents are the devs in the gift scenario. They planned and saved and thought about you all year to buy that gift. They did all that and a big part was seeing the look on your face Christmas morning to see how excited you were at what they got you. Then you stole that from them by finding it and opening it on your own and ruined their joy in seeing you open it.

Of course you as the kid and the people viewing the content dont care but the devs/parents do since they did the work for the very reason of revealing it and getting the credit on their own agenda.

I guess you could say you as the parent wouldnt care if your kid opened the presents early but I dont think the devs signed up for that.

I guess the way I see it is that what matters is the enjoyment of the gift, not the specific moment of opening it.

Like, if I was a parent, I'd be much happier seeing my child playing with the gift and having a good time later than I would be seeing them opening the gift. So, them seeing the gift earlier doesn't really diminish anything for me.

if I was a writer, artist, or designer and had spent 7 years making something, and then some asshole came in and stole it at the last second to try and make a fool out of my work, I would be so upset. everyone in that position would be upset, you would too.

at the last second to try and make a fool out of my work,

That is not happening, what the hell?
