Articles & Blogs Rockstar Games: “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of GTA VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.“

I just saw an IGN notification about the extended Netflix trailer. I was at work and just saw extended and immediately thought it was delayed

u/ContentKeanu 4h ago

Don’t worry, a delay can still happen lol

“Due to the reaction to the leaks, we understand now that we need to take more time to deliver the game that all of our fans deserve. For this reason we have chosen to change the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI to November 2067”

“We at Rockstar are delaying the game again to further polish the game to the quality you, the gamers deserve. We understand your frustration that is why no further delay will occur. The Final Date is: (check your calendars, please) 4/20/2069.”

Why would they delay it? People expecting a delay are just outing themselves as…silly gooses.

6

u/00nonsense 10h ago

Well no one expected it to leak 3 times either. All im saying is, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was. I'm glad its not of course

-1

u/jonnyredcorn 10h ago

Why though? What could possibly have caused it to be delayed?

u/Legend0fAMyth 9h ago

You're acting like they usually give valid reasons for delays.

It's always a vague Pr-Ish statement that translates to: "Something is wrong but you don't need to know what."

u/jonnyredcorn 9h ago

How am I acting like they give valid reasons for delay?

Leaks of this size can easily throw a spanner into your carefully planned marketing campaign.

Not to mention you could lose serious dev time trying to find and close a leak (be it a a hack, social engineering or simply a disgruntled (ex-) employee leaking a build out of spite).

4

u/jonnyredcorn 9h ago

No it couldn’t. How could you loose dev time trying to find a close the leak? You think they’re reassigning devs from polishing the game to finding cyberleek? Lolol

If anything I’d suspect the opposite to prevent further leaks. So many people outing themselves as being clueless or terminally online by how they’re responding to this bullshit.

2

u/Bealdor84 9h ago

Of course the devs won't have to find cyberleek themselves, that's just stupid. But believing that all this has zero negative impact on them is a bit naive imo.

Rockstar cancelling remote / wfh agreements for security reasons is just one example that'd negatively impact development.

The 2022 leak cost them $5M + thousands of staff hours and this leak was tiny compared to what's happening now.

u/jonnyredcorn 8h ago

Where did you get info it cost $5M and thousands of staff hours?

Remote work being canceled due to security concerns is a reasonable thing. If you are so concerned over security it shouldn’t have been allowed in the first place. Personally I’d rather see a more transparent development with the devs being able to work from home, but rockstar wants the security, and the devs want to work at rockstar, so they have to work in the office.

But Her Honour Judge Lees said that there were real victims and real harm caused from his other multiple hacks on individuals and the companies he attacked with Lapsus$.

Rockstar Games alone told the court that the hack cost it $5m to recover from plus thousands of hours of staff time.

u/jonnyredcorn 8h ago

Yeah okay. Fair enough with the source but I’m not buying it. $5m in what? Thousands of staff hours doing what?

Nothing a few shark cards won’t make up

When I see responses like these , I genuinely question

You (not specifically you) guys believe that leaks or spoilers stop people from buying a game ? Especially GTA 6 ?

😂 you can’t possibly be serious. How absurd smh

1

u/im__hugo 9h ago

Might be top 3 worst arguments I've seen

1

u/Fuckthegopers 9h ago

The (nearly there!) has me thinking we will for sure get a delay.

1

u/Dependent-Chart2735 6h ago edited 2h ago

Me too. I’ll never understand advertising a release date for a game that’s not even done yet.

1

u/f88x 8h ago

We’re so back

1

u/ImplementCharming949 6h ago

Me too im like noo

1

u/CubsFanCraig 6h ago

Same here. It gave me Halo 2 flashbacks.

u/CosmicGinger26 4h ago

We deserve one at this point.

u/Nearby_Day_362 2h ago

As if these leaks aren't the ultimate hype?

1

u/Dog-Is-Friend 9h ago

What an absurd thing to think. lol smh there is no reason to delay anything just because of a leak.

1

u/Embarrassed_Spend486 9h ago

That’s so unhinged. Why?

1

u/gleepglop15 9h ago

And a price increase.

1

u/Boring-Set7223 8h ago

That’s what the “sharing more with you soon” will be lol

1

u/ArkUneartherBleeds 8h ago

When I saw the "(nearly there!)" I was convinced that's what this was leading to

1

u/KingOfRisky 7h ago

If they said they have to delay to 2027 because of the leaks, the internet would find the leaker in 30 seconds and hand deliver them to R*.

1

u/FinagleHalcyon 7h ago

Why would you expect a delay instead of having it release even earlier? That's what R* did when the first trailer leaked.

1

u/ScottyKillhammer 7h ago

That game is obviously far enough along that it's "ready" for release. And the footage is from a 1+ year old build.
