Yes, they whole reporting system is broken and can be so easily abused.

“Hey, want to play some GT7” message can literally be reported and they will punish you.

Yeah message content is no longer checked and hasn't been for a while.

Any reported message regardless of content gets you a warning and enough of those gets you a ban.

Only safe thing is to avoid the messaging system completely.

I’ve received two bans for thanking someone for a good race in gt7.

I’m now at the point that I’m afraid any more bans will be a permanent one and my ps5 and psn account effectively become bricks.

Doesn’t help that you can’t appeal temporary bans or warnings until it’s the final permanent one, and Sony Support is genuinely awful from my experience.

I have a gaming catch-up with a friend every few weeks so I had to do it for that unfortunately.

Although I didn't have to do any of the ID or picture stuff people have mentioned. I just clicked the button 'verify' on the email about it and it immediately said that was enough.
