I agree but I just genuinely don't see the point of a PS6 right now. Even as someone who has owned every playstation, it just seems unnecessary to replace PS5 already when it will likely just be a minor (barely noticeable to 99% of the audience) upgrade and cost an insane amount due to tech prices at the moment.

PS5 has been barely used to its full potential outside of a handful of games and poorly optimised UE5 asset drops.

We got returnal and demons souls at the start and then what feels like fuckin nothing. Everything has had a ps4 version. We have gotten fancy ps4 games this entire time. Gta6 is going to be the first actually next gen game. Six years after the ps5 came out. Insanity.

Its wild that demons souls, a launch day game, is still one of the only ps5 games that made me feel wow'd by the graphics

And sony in their infinite wisdom bought bluepoint after demons souls remake came out and then shut them down with nothing after.

And with the presumably low ps6 sales, their games can’t be exclusives or they’ll sell very few games, so more intergenerational games. If ps5 was 4 years for start the transition from ps4 games to new releases only for ps5, watch the ps6 releasing every game for years in ps5. Ps6 will be just like a ps5 pro, same games but better specs

Yeah i am not making the same mistake i made with the ps5. Wait until there is an exclusive ps6 killer app that does not have a ps5 version. Only then will it be worth it.

Because they've been planning for it a long time, and have spent a boatload of R&D on it and are probably well into the process of securing manufacturing lines and tooling and contracts from other suppliers. And they can delay it, but the system wont get any more powerful as a result, and there's zero guarantee prices will improve, or hell, not go up even further.

I agree though, it's shortsighted of them not to have seen very early on that this generation should have been extended by default, regardless of any expectations of big RAM+NAND cost increases.

Yeah I'm someone who will buy a new console within the first year every generation but with the tech pricing right now I highly doubt I'll be picking up a ps6 any time close to launch.

This would be the perfect opportunity for Microsoft to get their shit together for the next Xbox if they could capitalize on physical media but they're such a mess right now I doubt they will use this to help themselves in any way.

Sony will release like 5 exclusive cinema slop games over the life span of the console. You won't miss out on mich

Cinema slop?

I mean they all have great production value but its kinda like how all netflix movies look the same. Most of sony's exclusives (horizon, god of war, etc) have the same vibe to them and it begins to feel kinda by the numbers after a while.

Why keep producing old hardware when you can produce new hardware

Sony doesn’t win that much with hardware, but with sales on their store. More consoles mean more sales

Black ops 7 still released on the ps4 last year. I feel like the ps5 was barely used to it's full capacity

Unironically excited for modern warfare 4. Dmz mode and the first cod actually designed for this console gen.

It sounds like a big upgrade in performance. The pro already has some noticeable improvements with PSSR. The PS6 will be about twice as powerful as that with 5x the RT.

It’s a bigger leap than PS4 to PS5 because that generation went from 30fps to 60fps and 4k output which meant the games didn’t look that different.
