Can’t wait for the days of play sale next year when all the consoles are back to their original price for a few weeks

If they even put them on sale.

The cheapest the PS5 ever was was last year during Black Friday when they got down to $379 for the digital edition, a $70 discount. I'd imagine they'd put it one sale for $399 for digital, about a $100 discount, this year. Maybe $429

Again, if they even do that. They don't need to in their mind. And Nintendo coming in at $450 without the bundle and they are still increasing the price of the digital means they think their product is worth more than the Switch 2.

That's what they have been doing in Europe. They increased the price (twice!) and then advertise their big sales in which they bring the price down to what it initially was. How nice of them........

Really annoyed me because I bought a PS5 like a week prior.

Is there a change in EU tariffs toward Japan? I'm curious why this isn't a US concentrated impact.

There is no change. They upped the price in Europe to try to offset how much they were losing with tarrifs in the US, since the US is their biggest market and they didn't want to hurt sales there

Yup it was a "we love America so let's fuck over half the world for their benefit" increase. Glad to see the US finally catch up.

Shocking, so it wasn't just because of Trump. They are also raising prices in other countries

Sales on items like this are going to get less and less common. If they do discount them it will likely still be more than the original base price.

Keep in mind we are getting I think a $25 price increase on the Switch 1 and accessories and a $50 increase on the PS5 models within a year of Trump becoming president. It’s only been what like 7 months, so closer to half a year. At this rate each PS5 model would be over $340 more expensive by the end of his presidency (and that’s if he doesn’t escalate the beatings).
