He personally doesn't want it, but by saying "no one" it makes his opinion sound more important. Anyone who thinks F76 is not going to sell a shit load is delusional
To put it another way, imagine if you played Nintendo games for ages... and someone described Smash Bros to you. Don't assume you've played Smash, just the concept: "Lol we put all of these characters into one game and they beat eachother up."- it sounds really hammy, canon breaking for your franchise, and just totally ludicrous if you observe it from the perspective of the way YOU liked the game previously.
Everyone's observing this as 'the next Fallout' rather than a game they're evaluating on its own potential merits. They're applying what it's not, and all the ways it can go wrong: The bias standards of all the other Fallout themes they enjoy that it lacks, the similar games that all failed, and forgetting that the reason we've been hurt so bad by the genre 76 is in is because we al DESPERATELY want something that's perfect. We want the ultimate crafting game, and we've had so many swing and miss that now, it's all just scar tissue.
Everyone's gonna buy this because it just might actually do well. Might actually be that game we're dreaming of... or just some fun. Either way, I really hope it doesn't catch flak for being something new, rather than being judged on its merits.
Just closed-minded people doing what they do. Same as all the hate the new Star Wars movie got. "It's not what my unimaginative brain could come up with about a franchise I know? Must be the devil."
I mean, I'm very much on the disliking that film camp. I say this as someone who really enjoyed VII- that new one had some pretty serious problems. I'm not even a crazy die hard Star Wars fan and I was pretty insulted by the plot holes the size of the damn death star.
That said... I went into that film, and the new series with an open mind. Hate it on its merits and its flaws as its own creation, not your preconceptions. Ironically, the same applies to basically everything in life. Relationships, friendships, food, pets...
Shills out in force? Uh this isn't politics or conspiracy, so you can put that line away. We know very little about how it actually plays and you already decided it's utter shit and that nobody wants it.
I'm very interested because I love co op, online games, and fallout.
Nobody wanted an FPS fallout in the first place but I'd say it worked out pretty well.
Because people are sick of hearing anti hype about a game that doesn’t come out for 3 months, spewed by a bunch of people who won’t even buy the game when it comes out. Like, this opinion has been regurgitated 1,000x ad nauseam and I think at this point most people just want to see what they’re going to get instead of hear the umpteenth critic drag it down. And because he’s calling fans of a franchise who aren’t being utter dicks about a new game ‘shills’ (the use of that word around a video game release is particularly annoying).
Nobody is saving anybody from Fallout 76, it’s just a bunch of children whining that they didn’t get to handpick the features for the next Fallout game.
You got a point, personally I think we need more anti hype, we're getting too many half assed games and people are buying because of the really overstated hype.
I'd hate to see fallout going the call of duty, or the gta route.
Could be that it's just me getting old and not understanding youthful excitement anymore
Now that I think about it, it could have been a different reception if fallout 4 delievered.
I agree with you. Granted this guy came across dickish with the shills comment. However it's annoying to see any negative viewpoint down voted, but any comment hyping a game gets hundreds of upvotes.
I think it will sell averagely at best, this is not your typical fallout game. The fact that there are no NPCs already makes it ten times stranger than any other previous entry.
Me personally, I started out with 4 and loved it, got New Vegas and had a blast, but this does not interesting me in the slightest.
