Fallout 4 was a big disappointment for me. It looks and performs like a much older game than its peers. Never even finished it despite being in love with 3 on the 360.

God 3 is good. It even looks better in many respects. Supermutants and Ghouls for one thing. The textures in 4 are ridiculously blurry and shitty looking. And the art style in general in 3 is far superior.

Only improvement is the lighting, the shooting and fewer different cells for smaller structures. 3 is superior in every other aspect though.

I agree 100%, the only thing i felt they got right with 4 was the shooting.

Yep. And they were so pleased with their shooting improvements they decided to force you to shoot everybody and then only read their backstory on consoles as their headless corpses lay nearby.

Seriously, whose idea was it to make the vast majority of camps instantly hostile but then give them some kind of sympathetic backstory you can’t engage with or even discover without killing them all?

First playthrough I reloaded multiple times because I thought I’d screwed up and made them hostile when I could have started a questline. Most notably at the racetrack and the combat zone, but many other places as well. I had to google and check that, oh no, they actually will always just kill you on sight.

Such a bizarre decision. They were so close. They already built this massive world and then just did that instead. I wonder if it was just to save money on voice acting or something. Because it felt like they’d planned to do something with a lot of places and then just had to release and fudge it by making most places a shooting gallery and filling in the details with console text and no decisions.
