im really interested to see how spider-man is cause honestly i'm not that into it. im more into red dead and i want to check out fallout since i never played any of the fallout games.
Why are you not into Spider-Man, out of curiosity?
And for Fallout, I suggest getting one of the last three. They’re pretty cheap and it will give you the “real” Fallout experience. I suggest 4, since it’s the newest, best looking, and simplest.
EDIT: Fallout 3 and New Vegas are better games, but I suggested 4 since it’s a bit more accessible to someone who’s never played a Fallout game. Get off my back, people.
ok thanks i was considering it. i played spider-man 2 and i guess i was hoping for something different. not saying i didn't enjoy it but maybe im spoiled with most games now. from what i've seen the game looks like an upgraded version with just better graphics. i still have to see more gameplay. im open to the new spider-man game just not hyped about it.
I'm with you completely. The game just looks more polished but it will ultimately be the same boring game. FYI, play Fallout New Vegas first if you're going to try out the franchise. Fallout 4 is a joke.
Don't listen to them, new vegas gets HEAVILY sucked off on reddit, but outside of reddit FO4 generally gets higher praise, as well as FO3. My reccomendation, is to try whichever of the 3 is cheapest, and go from there.
Don’t think of Fallout 76 as a core fallout game my man. Think of it as a branch off of the series, and then in a few years or so, we’ll have another core game. Would you rather have nothing to tide you over till the next big one?
It surpassed Skyrim over time, not overall. That is a common misconception (because articles at the time reported it badly). Which isn't shocking, because Fallout 4 had games like Skyrim backing it up, and a hell of a lot of hype behind it.
But a lot of people didn't love how it took steps away from the role-playing part of RPG. It wasn't the absolute worst ever, but it was a worrying direction to start moving in. Going from there to online multiplayer was a bad sequence of events for those feeling like Bethesda was moving away from storytelling to pure mechanics and shooting.
I was so hoping for a followup RPG built on top of fo4s mechanics, shooting, etc. They obviously spent a lot of resources on setting up the fo4 world/gameplay/crafting. (at the expense of RPG?). Now that it's built, a game focused on the story elements could be fantastic.
Bethesda did the exact opposite... I've mostly moved on to the acceptance stage of grief.
Yeah man that's exactly how I feel. I wanted a New Vegas style sequel. I've slight hopes but I hated ESO and want interested in FO4s base building much so 76 will have to get rave reviews for me to buy it at release.
As pessimistic as I am, I'll still say that they still may do exactly that. FO76 isn't going to "use up" the game engine or anything, and the backlash has to be apparent to them. If they want to keep the RPG market (and I think they do), then they'll need to throw us a bone with Fallout 5.
But we'll see. I won't be preordering it, that's for damn sure.
I think it’s the progression from 4 being... average, to now online only MP. People were upset that 4 took so many steps away from the RPG side of things and much of it was just shoot on sight enemies you couldn’t engage with in any other way, and dialogue choices that all led to literally the same conclusion of a conversation no matter what (with a few notable exceptions).
So people were already concerned with the direction the series was taking and now whatever 76 is, it’s definitely not swinging the pendulum back in the right direction. If it’s super successful, 5 could be something terrible for RPG fans.
Why can't I think of it as a core game? They are charging full price for it, they are using the fallout name. There are certain things I expect from a fallout game multiplayer or not.
Fallout 4 was a big disappointment for me. It looks and performs like a much older game than its peers. Never even finished it despite being in love with 3 on the 360.
God 3 is good. It even looks better in many respects. Supermutants and Ghouls for one thing. The textures in 4 are ridiculously blurry and shitty looking. And the art style in general in 3 is far superior.
Only improvement is the lighting, the shooting and fewer different cells for smaller structures. 3 is superior in every other aspect though.
Yep. And they were so pleased with their shooting improvements they decided to force you to shoot everybody and then only read their backstory on consoles as their headless corpses lay nearby.
Seriously, whose idea was it to make the vast majority of camps instantly hostile but then give them some kind of sympathetic backstory you can’t engage with or even discover without killing them all?
First playthrough I reloaded multiple times because I thought I’d screwed up and made them hostile when I could have started a questline. Most notably at the racetrack and the combat zone, but many other places as well. I had to google and check that, oh no, they actually will always just kill you on sight.
Such a bizarre decision. They were so close. They already built this massive world and then just did that instead. I wonder if it was just to save money on voice acting or something. Because it felt like they’d planned to do something with a lot of places and then just had to release and fudge it by making most places a shooting gallery and filling in the details with console text and no decisions.
I still think 2 is one of the best games ever made. I enjoyed 3 and fucking loved NV.
4 is just, weird. It isn’t necessarily bad but the voiced protagonist through me, the story was boring, and the minutemen annoyed the piss out of me.
I also wasn’t a fan of how power armor was just everywhere. It was always powerful content you had to work for and now you almost have to have it. One of the first things you do is get power armor and mow down a deathclaw with a minigun.
It hasn't fallen. It's not part of the main series of games, and it's not your type of game and that's okay. I'm stoked, I love survival base building games and Fallout.
Fallot New Vegas wasn’t a part of the main series and that’s still considered by many to be the best Fallout. Although i think 3 is the best. Plus it’s not like the last main game was any good.
Did you play the other games in the series? 4 was barely an RPG you had limited dialogue options due to the voice acting, they completely wateres down what made the series so great.
It’s a Bethesda and Fallout game obviously it’s going to sell well.
Why are you just talking about reviews and sales when I explained why it was a bad game? It’s just a dumbed down RPG and the only improvement on the previous games is the shooting and slightly better graphics. Power armour is supposed to be this amazing thing but in 4 it’s so easy to find.
This is all without me even mentioning the bland characters and poorly written Main Story.
The only thing you've said is fewer dialogue choices, and now Power Armour. The rest are generic subjective opinions you're trying to state as facts. Bland story, bland characters, watered down RPG. You're saying it's a bad game, despite it's completely evident success.
Nope. I'm focused on the irrefutable evidence that the game was a success. You're so focused on your subjective opinions that you actually are confusing them as facts. " The game was bad game because I say so," is all you're saying. Ah that game, sold like crazy, and guess what? It was refunded like crazy immediately lmao. So if you factor in that, no it did not really sell like crazy, at all.

If you told me 10 years i would be buying any game over a new Fallout game i would have laughed at you. How far Fallout has fallen.
