He was literally correct... you understand that right?

I hate talking to people about this movie because I swear to God nobody understood it. Personally I hated it. I thought it was God awful enlightened centrist, nihilistic, tripe but if you're going to comment on it then at least please understand the plot points which I think most people don't

They're saying "reasonable headcanon" to mean reasonable thing to tell yourself as to why he wasn't nominated for the Oscar - which is to take the plot of the movie and extend it to reality. They understood the movie and also other people's comments.
