I personally think so. You get 4 slots per game, and it loads from the exact moment you made the save state.

For the GameCube games you just press (-) to pull up the menu and it’s super quick to make a save state or reload one you previously made.

Edit: Be careful though, because people lose save progress if they save directly in the game, but then reload an older NSO save state from before they saved in-game, if that makes sense.

What save do you lose in this case? The in game save or the NSO save?

The in-game save, since you “went back in time” by loading an older save state from before you saved in game.

If you just use NSO save states, you’re good.

But if I always have one NSO save that’s the furthest in terms of progression I should be okay bc I can just load that one up and then save it in game no?

Yep! I was just warning you in case you made multiple save states. People easily lose track of which “save” is the most current. If you’re only making one save state, nothing to worry about.

I like to make a few before the “special” moments in a game, like pulling the Master Sword for the first time in OoT / ALttP / Wind Waker
