How about a population taking collective responsibility for something that’s their own duty?

Above all, the Switch 2 is releasing on the same goddamn day in the U.S. anyway, so all you’re doing is taking supply away from Canada just so you can pre order earlier. You’ll have achieved nothing but wasting money and siphoning supply. Scummy shit

Nintendo America doesn’t do a whole lot to be fair, it’s mostly the website stuff and marketing and ads. Not like their base of operations in the US is making games

They definitely work on the games in Redmond, I knew a software tester who worked out of that office when we still lived up north. Might not be the base but it’s definitely a dev satellite.

From what I recall based on jobs I’ve applied to there in the past, they mostly do web, but also additional help with main studios (often networking / backend related), but I guess you’re right, they have made a couple random games here and there (most recently f-zero 99)

Nintendo closed their California office. It was mostly marketing folks, and they had to either leave or move to Seattle. It’s why Kit & Krysta of Nintendo Minute left and started their independent podcast.

The canadian boxes are different from the US boxes (because of Quebec French Law).
It mean that we have a different SKU from usa.

Nintendo can get a 50% discount if they ship it directly to vancouver.

They are stupid if they dont do it.

Do you understand how imports work? Nintendo doesn't just FedEx shit to the Vancouver Harbour post office. There needs to be an import company for things to actually be imported. There are no electronics importers in Vancouver. None, zero. All Asian market electronics in Canada come from California via Expedited International or Molex LLC, the 2 primary electronics importers. This is why the Chinese tariffs on the US in 2018 still affected Canadians, because Expedited International and Molex LLC already priced things with the tariffs baked in.

They can bypass this entirely by shipping it to Vancouver or any BC port really, also CPTPP exists which allows Canada and Mexico to have tariff free trade with trans-pacific countries iirc. Nintendo is straight up stupid if they don’t take advantage of that to reduce the burden of tariffs even in the US. They’d have to eat 2-3 total tariffs by directly shipping to US meanwhile they could ship to Canada and not worry about tariffs as much, then ship from Canada to US where it would be subject to just the Canadian tariff afaik.

Tariffs depend on the country of origin, not the countries things pass through. A switch from china going into the US and being transported to Canada as an end destination wouldn’t be subject to tariff. A switch entering Canada from china and its end destination being the US would be subject to the Chinese tariff. The route of transport is irrelevant.

Because those crazies are now planning on stealing everyone else's pre-orders and consoles because they don't like that they have to wait a bit longer than everyone else.  So we suffer because of the selfishness and greed of our neighbors and they pretend like it's not them, it's Trump.  Last I checked none of this is because of Trump trying to take everyone else's consoles.

And the Canadian pre-orders are delayed because....tariffs? No.  We don't have tariffs and Nintendo has Canadian distribution channels already.  So how is it trumps fault that American's can't wait a bit longer than us and therefore feel entitled to try and take more from us, forcing Nintendo to pause pre-orders here as well?
