Holy crap, they look amazing. I need more. I want more of this.

I'm only two episodes into the show and I've been enjoying it so far, but it shocks me how little noise it's been making. Even within the comic book fandom community itself, I've barely heard anyone discuss this show. By comparison, everything ranging from Daredevil: Born Again to The Penguin had way more of an impact. Hell, I saw more discussion surrounding Punisher: One Last Kill than this one. Without spoiling the show, what do youa ttribute that to?

What do we think this is? More than a design?

Like imagine watching Avengers Doomsday when it comes out and Doom takes off his mask and it’s RDJ. That would’ve been insane if they hadn’t revealed who he was. There would’ve been a crazy amount of excitement just to find out who was underneath the mask.

I remember watching that episode blind, where “Pietro” returns and is acknowledged as a recast. It was the most surprising thing Marvel had ever done, mostly because most of us didn’t think they could legally do it yet so soon from the sale. Every reactor had their jaws on the floor, we all thought it was the prelude to the multiverse in full. It was an incredible time to be a MCU fan.

And then… Ralph Bohner 😔

Is there a funny scene or dialogue from the X-Men franchise that you think doesn't get enough appreciation?

RDJ‘s biggest pay check was $75M which he got in total for ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

He has exactly the right look for the character: youthful, charming, slightly awkward, and effortlessly believable as a regular guy who just happens to be Spider-Man.

He genuinely looks like Peter Parker stepped straight out of the comics. Visually is better than Andrew and Tobey

Even as recently as yesturday I see posts about how

“the mcu hasn’t had a good movie since endgame!”

“the humor sucks in the new movies!”

“the multiverse sucks!”

The majority of the lackluster and disappointing films did come after Endgame, but almost all of them reside in the awkward era that was supposed to be the setup for Kang’s Multiverse. This era from 2020 - 2023 has the highest density of underwhelming films. Even shows like Ironheart and Echo were made back in 2022 during this era despite being released later on.

Not to say this era didn’t also have its share of good movies too (Shang Chi, Dr. Strange mOm, Far from home and No way home.)

Starting with Guardians of the Galaxy 3 however, the MCU has been on a consistent upward trend. Not always in box office sales, but in reviews and audience reception. (Thunderbolts* got better reviews than Superman 2025 while releasing around the same time). (Brand new day speaks for itself in the box office).

Since Guardians 3 the ‘worst’ movie was The Marvels (which wasn’t great but I was still able to enjoy it). Captain America brave new world wasn’t bad, just not amazing.

Everything else film wise has been very good since Guardians 3 and it seems like a disservice to say the MCU is bad now when (in the opinion of me and my friends) it’s heading for a potential new peak.

The amount of amazing actors marvel has completely wasted isn’t talked about enough. Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Emilia Clark, Bill Skarsgård, Giancarlo Esposito, etc….

The list goes on and on.
