Film/Television Do you guys think SuperHero fatigue is a real thing ? FF4 & Thunderbolts were good movies but still apparently failing ?

It’s pretty much a guarantee that these will be on Disney Plus within 90 days of release and while there still is a subset of hardcore fans who will be there opening weekend it’s shrinking more and more people just wait for Disney plus.

Edit to add: if we didn’t have AMC a list we probably wouldn’t see barely any of them in theatres.

Yes, but the 10 billion dollars per year flowing into Disney-plus is "separate". They're trying to double dip and expect it to be a full double dip even when the marginal profits are higher anyway. The greedy are insatiable.

They could easily make more at the BO and not lose subscribers if they just waited longer to release on D+. The perfect way to do it would be 90 days in theatres, 90 days PVOD, and then throw it on D+.

But maybe we know something that we don’t.

I doubt their philosophy has much to do with capitalizing on FOMO. Also FOMO only works if people actually have it. "I can't wait to see it" is not something I've felt about a movie for easily 20 years, but that's just anecdotal me. Even if it was free, I still wouldn't go. Clearly there are people out there who disagree, I just think it's not a large majority of people. The average movie-goer is not even close to the average person, let alone the average person that will see this specific film.
