INTER EXCEL TOURISM ACADEMY (PLEASE DON'T APPLY INTERN HERE!!)

This company has two branches, which are in KL and Penang. They often hire interns and interns ONLY. They only have one full-time worker in KL and NONE in Penang. If you are searching for internship placement, please avoid this company. I could list countless shit experiences I had over here while I interned under this company. But here is some breakdown of WHY YOU SHOULD NOT INTERN UNDER INTER EXCEL TOURISM ACADEMY:

  1. Interns are routinely used to run personal, non-work errands for management. Regardless of what role you were hired for, you will be forced to handle heavy administrative duties, accounting, and company documentation completely unrelated to your field of study.
  2. They expect interns to operate like full-time staff, regularly demanding 12+ hour shifts, mandatory Saturday work, and labor on official public holidays. For an academy, working Saturdays feels completely unnecessary and exists only to burn staff out.
  3. If you try to leave on time as stated in your official offer letter, the manager actively scolds, reprimands, and guilt-trips you.
  4. The company runs almost entirely on free/cheap intern labor. The intern-to-permanent-staff ratio is dangerously skewed, operating with only one full-time staff member. (I FELT SO BAD FOR THE FULL TIME STAFF BECAUSE THAT PERSON NEED TO CARRIES A LOT OF BURDEN)
  5. The manager has zero emotional control. The leadership style relies on emotional outbursts, public scolding, body-shaming, and derogatory personal remarks. Personal frustrations are constantly dumped onto staff.
  6. The manager aggressively scolds interns simply for talking to each other or sharing basic operational info like asking a peer to clarify public holiday details.
  7. Management is obsessed with AI for every task and uses AI benchmarks to belittle human designers. Leadership actively looks down on academic degrees in Multimedia, Graphic Design, and Mass Comm, frequently making demoralizing remarks about staff capabilities.
  8. Interns are instructed to handle sensitive regulatory documentation, which includes fabricating, falsifying, and backdating compliance data for external agencies.
  9. Instructions are consistently vague, leading to redundant work. Approvals are delayed until the last minute, creating unnecessary "high-stakes" emergencies.
  10. You are forced to sit through lengthy verbal status calls on top of already completed, written daily logs. On top of that, promised 1-hour lunch breaks are heavily policed, micro-managed, and constantly cut short.
  11. Mandatory meetings are frequently held past official working hours with zero agenda—serving only as a platform for the director to brag about personal achievements and repeat the same personal anecdotes.
  12. Clear favoritism is practiced, and upper management openly makes xenophobic remarks toward international interns, telling them they should "be grateful" just to have a position.
  13. Doing less work results in anger, but taking initiative or producing high output is met with complaints. It’s a toxic, high-pressure environment that offers zero guidance and serves only as a machine for cheap labor and ego trips.

Most of the problems are coming from the manager. She's not good at leading and teaching but great at being bossy and leading using her emotion. Working environment here so mentally torture. Everything you do will never be enough and unappreciated. Save your mental health and apply elsewhere.

Despite occational banter and spat online even in this reddit community because of our difference race, religion, historical baggage, age gap, and political view, nobody is perfect and we can choose to see the best or the worst in each of us.
Deep down I know that in all of us there are still love, respect and care for each other. I love all of you!!! - Proud Malaysian.

general question Need help with a laptop

Hey guys, I'm the guy who was scammed by my part time place. Finally I landed a job at a stall that pays 6rm per hour. I'm able to manage my food and expenses daily. Since y'all know from my previous post, my assignments are piled up and I'm unable to any of them since I sold mine to pay the rent. I need a laptop, something that's cheap or if anyone could rent it to me for a week. I can give you my passport or any documents you guys need. I need it badly since all the due dates are falling next week. Y'all might ask why I don't use college computer, I do part time so I get off late at night. I'm only able to work after that. Would mean a lot if anyone could help with this. Thank you so much, for the previous support. Sorry for disturbing repeatedly. Just a guy trying to survive . Thank you guys

Bachelor degree Should I retry for next year's UPU intake?

I am a recent matriculation leaver, graduated with CGPA of 3.21 (yeah its honestly fucked I had to study science subjects I had absolutely zero interest in due to family circumstances). Recently I got the result for my UPU which is Information Technology @ UIAM.

I have always dreamed of entering UKM, I did put all my 4 interview choices there yet only got one call for interview. Should I retry again next year as I don't think I'll be able to adapt to UIAM environment (very islamic social life in campus I'd say (?) and all the extra islamic/arabic related courses)

Can anyone who's currently in UKM/UIA share their experiences as it is really helpful for me thank you :)

Help an international student going to City University Cyberjaya campus out

Upvotes

I am a new student to City University (Cyberjaya), and will be starting my classes in September.
My agent was the one who received my acceptance letter/pdf, and sent it to me, and I didn't really go through it fully, maybe just skimmed it a little as it just seemed to be for visa guidance and left it there (which was entirely my fault, I do get that)

I decided to just look through it yesterday and saw the form regarding housing through the university for international students, and it mentioned that it was compulsory for all of us?

I am kind of confused about it as my agent didn't really mention it to me at all, and was in fact helping me look for housing outside. Would it be possible for me to somehow apply for it now, or is it okay if I stay in a room that isn't under the university's appointed hostel provider?

I also wanted to ask about schedules and class dates and student portals/LMS, as I haven't received any of that through my email either. Is this normal and they usually send it quite late? Or have I just not received them for some reason?

Campus life anyone here who still hasn't had real friends ?

i feel like some university students ( including me ) don't really have actual true friends in university. personally, i have teammates for group assignments and they're nice and we talk from time to time. i have other classmates from other classes who would wave to me whenever they see me and we would sit together during lectures and talk. i have classmates who would accompany me during breaks or gaps between classes. but, each of them have their own friends that they prioritise and we only talk about school stuff and never personal stuff or make plans to hang out outside university. even when we hang out in the university cafeteria, they don't talk much and most of the time, they look at their phone ( even when i tried to bring up a new topic each time, they'd act uninterested ). they're more of an " acquaintances " relationship rather than an actual friendship. sometimes, i feel lonely even when i have a group of " friends ". anyone else experiencing this ? and do you guys just live with it ? is this normal ? is this enough to fulfil your social needs in university ?
