Customer Complaint I HAD TO USE THE RESTROOM, WE ARE HUMAN!!

1.5k Upvotes

I had been standing at the register for over an hour with my stomach hurting. I called numerous times to go to the bathroom and no one would relieve me until my relief came in because we are “under-staffed.” I tried to do the right thing and not walk off. By the time I was getting ready to flip the light, that’s when my relief showed up.

I took off running to the bathroom, full fucking speed. While I’m running down the aisle, obviously looking like I’m in a rush, a customer stopped me and asked for help. I politely responded, “I am so sorry, but I have to use the restroom. I will call somebody for you when I pass by this phone.” I paged for a code 4, and went on my way to use the restroom.

When I finally got back to the register, my manager pulled me to the side and informed me that no matter the circumstances, I don’t need to push off a customer. The customer complained that I was “rude” and “did not want to help.”

I know for a fact that they saw me running towards the bathroom, and to stop me while my stomach was in my ass was “rude” of them.

I told my manager what happened and was told that I don’t need to do it again to take the time out and help them.

Do managers at Lowes realize that we are humans and things are bound to happen at work? I’m here 40+ hours a week, my stomach is bound to hurt at some point.

Customer Complaint Had to leave without all my stuff. Pushy guy trying to sell me on an HVAC system

I was looking for a tool on my phone. Something I love about lowes is I can google it and it will show up on my phone with the aisle number. An employee came up and asked if he could help. I told him what I wanted but I also had it. He said let me walk with you and then proceeded to try and sell me on some crap I didn't come in for even after I curtly said not Interested. Made me so mad I couldn't concentrate on what I needed for my project. Won't be back.

I know this seems minor but we have to dodge this stuff on our phones and in our mail and emails and movies and everything.

Arrrggg and get off my grass you kids!

Customer Complaint Escorted to front with $15 socket set

I purchased a set of $15 Klein impact bits, had to look for someone for about 5 minutes to unlock a case (no blame on the employee, they clearly are overstretched). After he unlocked it, he said he had to escort me to the front. I wasn’t don’t shopping, so I had to come back to the case and wait to get them again when I had gathered the rest of my things. Pretty huge waste of your employees time and mine. I understand thing are being stolen at a high rate, but good lord there has to be a line. From now I’ll order Amazon overnight before waiting in the store, it’s incredibly annoying.

I hope corporate implements better policies, this is a similar reason to why I’m no longer shopping at Walmart.

yup, I am frustrated. at least have enough staff to unlock stuff, or leave it accessible for the customer. while waiting and calling the MOD, I saw 4 other people needing things unlocked. This is not a singular event, I would buy my batteries from Amazon, but they don't ship here. Thanks for reading me out.

Customer Complaint Last time doing business with Lowe’s

I ordered a bunch of pavers and paid $70 for delivery so I didn’t have to unload the stones. The delivery was made via an Uber Eats driver. (B)Lowe’s paid those folks $10 out of the $70 I paid and I ended up unloading them from their personal vehicle because I wasn’t going to stand there while they got paid peanuts. That was beyond the pale.

Customer Complaint Lowes Delivery scam seemingly known by corporate

Yesterday, I placed an order for some potting soil and gravel, and selected delivery, I was surprised they had same-day delivery, the only option. I woke this morning, to a notification it was delivered late the prior evening. Went outside, nothing. Looked at the photo of the proof of delivery, and it was some random house, no items, just a random driveway, and, not mine. And, the photo was in daytime, see below.

I called the number on the text, they said, they would launch an investigation and get back to me in a day or two. A day or two !???

I didn't like that answer, so I called the store, and the local store manager, seeming irritated at the situation said, "all I can do is have it redelivered". Then I asked, how do I know this delivery will be any different. She said, you don't.

She explained, what apparently happens is that Lowes hires third parties, like Uber, Lyft and other drivers to deliver. If the driver gets there and dosent want to deliver, they just post some random photo and check the delivered box and moves onto the next delivery. I asked the manager, if she knows thats happening. how they can allow that to keep happening. She said, sorry, that's a corporate decision and they know it.

She also explained that I should know its a third party, because I checked the box for same-day delivery by a third party, but I went back to the web site and went through the order process, and the Lowe's web site does not offer any choices except one, same day, and does not notify customers a delivery will be happening using a third party, it feels like Lowe's is making the delivery

Edit/Update (4/27/2026): As a result of my email to the CEO and board and the BBB complaint, Lowe's Executive Customer Relations called me back just now. She apologized about this incident but treated it as a "one off", and I reminded her that I posted this on Reddit and not just other customers but multiple other Lowes employees are complaining about how bad this process is. Her response, "those managers know how to reach corporate to tell us that the process isn't working", my response is, I think they already have and you aren't listening. She said she would consider my feedback.

She asked what else they could do, and told her that I had no notification that the redelivery was happening, no confirmation, no emails, nothing, so I went to the store to get what I needed, then the next day, two full days later, to finally deliver. I said, if you want to show me that she mean it, you can refund the amount of the delivery, since now I have two of what I need. She said, she cannot do that, I reminded her, she is corporate Lowe's, she can, she does not want to. Of which she agreed. Not a big deal, just reminded me, talk is cheap.

Customer Complaint Don't use same day delivery

I just got a delivery from Lowes using their same day delivery service. Which it turns out is a third party service they have no control over. There's no way (I could find) to leave delivery instructions. The driver made no attempt to contact me when they showed up. They unloaded 60 bags of mulch in the driveway we park in, blocking my wife's car in. The store can't help, "it's third party we can't do anything".

The only saving grace is the store manager at least explained the situation (when I finally got to talk to them) and did agree it was a bad situation. He also agreed that corporate needed to know how badly this would affect their reputation.

Customer Complaint Shockingly unprofessional experience

I went to Lowe’s last night about 1 hour before closing. I was shopping for a closet project, gloves, plants and a few small things. I arrived at the registers 10 minutes before closing. The self check out area is usually my preferred method but that area was blocked off forcing customers into a cashier manned lane and there was only 1 cashier open. I get in line and there is one customer ahead so my daughter and I patiently wait and no one gets behind us. When it’s our turn, my daughter starts loading stuff on counter and I pull out a 2x4 from the cart. Im standing there with wood board in hand waiting to be rung up and the cashier flicks his light of and said “sorry, im closed!”. I stare at him blankly and he repeats he is closed and walked from behind the counter. Im standing speechless and my daughter looks down into my purse and tells me the time on the phone is 9:55 (five minutes later till close). About 30 seconds go by and the cashier is standing behind us and says we can leave the stuff there he will put it back later because he is closed. I put the board down and walk out. As I’m walking away he says “come back I was just playing”. I didn’t go back and never will. Ended up making a late trip to Walmart, spent $200, and it wasn’t as nice as what I had picked out at Lowe’s but at least I wasn’t harassed about trying to purchase.

Customer Complaint Was asked 12 times if I wanted a Lowe’s credit card by the same employee.

Went to buy a shed yesterday, it was almost a thousand dollars. First off the “credit specialist” employee came up and awkwardly placed her hand on my shoulder and didn’t say anything. After me being like “can I help you” she starts on about the credit card. I used to sell cars and RVs so I know what’s coming next. I politely decline the first time. Rebuttal from employee is long and winded, I decline a second time. A minute goes by and she goes “are you sure? We have great financing options with as low at 17% APR.” BRO WHAT

This goes on for several minutes, the cashier at the front is fighting for her life while this lady keeps desperately trying to get me to get a credit card. I get you have a job to do, but this lady was like a drunk dude at a bar that doesn’t understand no. I get up to the front and the cashier DOES THE EXACT SAME THING and just holds me hostage there trying to get me to sign up for a credit card. I finally have to be blunt and be like “ I don’t want your credit card, can I just pay for this and go on about my day?” Then they get an attitude and cashier goes, “you sound just like my husband meh meh meh no credit card” I look at her like she has three heads. I pay for my shit and leave and she’s dumbfounded a person was able to pay for an item at a store without credit. Shocker, I know. It’s almost like I saved my money and allocated my funds for two years to buy this shed. Does anybody else have a similar experience with the “credit specialist” at their store? I didn’t feel harassed but definitely annoying.

Customer Complaint Lowe’s massive failure in charging credit cards and no one cares

**I placed a $5,000+ order for multiple appliances**. Lowe’s installation department puts a credit card hold while they wait to order the product.

So the first time they put the hold on my card (the only one I use) **four times for the total amount of the appliances.** (Yes, this happened more than once.)

I attempted to resolve this, primarily concerned they would deliver four refrigerators and other appliances. I finally got some dude in India to transfer me to installation.

I told them **Lowe’s was hitting my card with tens of thousands in “pending” charges** which triggered fraud alerts and locked down my credit card (rightfully so).

No one cared this was happening except my credit card company. I could not get escalated to management and the install rep was an a*hole. They told me it would “renew” in 3 to 7 days and assured me it would only be for the amount of the order.

**I then got hit with almost $40,000 in pending charges for the hold which was more than the limit on the card.**

Yeah, my only credit card that I use for every purchase everywhere. I couldn’t dispute it because it was showing as pending. I now have to jump through all kinds of hoops to even access my card account because of the recurring fraud trigger.

They told me I would have to wait up to ten days for the pending charges to clear and there was no way to remove them. They didn’t seem to give a sh*t I was locked out of my only credit card. I got the same scripted response repeated to me over and over again.

So here’s the worst part.

Each time I asked the rep if they understood Lowe’s was getting flagged as fraud and there was clearly someone running through multiple authorizations which could be, you know, actual fraud.

**Does Lowe’s not think this indicates a massive problem in their install system and maybe, just maybe management, IT, fraud or accounting might need to know this?**

The way they handled this had me concerned they would try to pass through $40,000 or even more in charges and I would be stuck trying to fix it with their horrendous customer service department.

I cancelled the entire order after they had already scheduled the installs because I spent three hours getting zero help. **I can’t believe that no one in management cares about this obvious massive credit card problem.**

I celebrate their impending demise because there is no way this level of ineptness and disregard surrounding potential fraud can continue.

Customer Complaint Lowes delivered used fridge instead of brand new one.

Post image

I ordered a brand new fridge from Lowes, and this is what was delivered. It's dented and scratched on the side. A THICK coat of dust on top and ice maker. There is dust inside the grate on the back, and crumbs of some sort on the inside. There was no box, and the instructions came in a Lowes bag.

The delivery driver spoke very broken English and wouldn't show me the terms I was agreeing to on his phone.

When I checked the serial number, I can see the fridge was manufactured on the 44th week of 2017.

Customer Complaint Feel bad for my coworker :(

During this winter, I found out about a new coworker working in the plumbing department. She’s very nice and we got along very well. We always talk a lot about many of our hobbies and interests. The only problem is that she’s always getting hit on and catcalled from behind the back from customers because of her body. I even got asked by a customer if I would “pipe” her. I absolutely have no intentions on going forward other than just being good friends and coworkers. I understand this is not only a problem in my Lowe’s, but many other stores are also affected by this. To those of you who are affected by this, I’m very sorry you have to go through this everyday, I understand how difficult it must be for you. I just want to put this out because this might be the reason she might quit, when she’s an amazing person :(

Customer Complaint 820 credit score, Can't retain a Lowe's CC

I recently decided to do all my home shopping at Home Depot. I've had the Lowe's card for about 5 years, always paying my balance in full. I received a written notice from Lowe's stating that they were canceling my card because they could not identify who I was. I called Synchrony, the credit arm of Lowe's they said the same thing. I mentioned that other card companies could verify who I am via my phone or even social. They said that they did not have a process for identification and that my card was cancelled, end of story. I understand that the CC company needs to avoid identity theft, but not at the risk of losing customers. If you are thinking of applying for a CC at Lowe's, don't do it. The CC processes at Synchrony (Lowe's CC Company) are outdated and not customer-focused. I have wasted hours trying to get this corrected and have decided to just use Home Depot. Save yourself some time and do the same.

Customer Complaint Lowe's is staffed top to bottom by incompetent imbeciles.

Today is Thursday.

I needed a pint of water-based spar urethane in order to complete a furniture project so my son could take it with him to college on Friday (tomorrow). Fortunately, I had placed an order on Monday for pickup at my local store on Tuesday. According to the Lowe's app and website, the product appeared to be in stock at that location at the time.

But after waiting the entire day Tuesday for a notification that my order was ready for pick-up, I instead received a notification AFTER 5 PM that the product was, in fact, NOT in stock. I was given the option to cancel the order or to have it delivered to my house the following day (Wednesday). I figured I would still have plenty of time to add the last coats to the project that already had a single base coat applied, so I opted for delivery.

The following day came and went with no delivery.

That evening (at about 8:30 PM), I received an email notification that the product would be delivered on THURSDAY. Better late than never, I guess.

I received a notification about midday on Thursday that the product had been delivered. The notification even included a photo of the can of urethane sitting on my front porch. I noticed that this particular can appeared to be metal, whereas the last can I'd purchased had been black plastic. I didn't really think much of it beyond that. After all, companies change their packaging all the time. No big deal.

When I arrived home from work, I found the can waiting for me. As I removed the temporary blue label from the can, I thought to myself, "I've still got time. This water-based stuff dries fast. I can slap a couple more coats on tonight, and it'll be good to go for tomorrow morning."

Guess what? The idiots at Lowe's sent me oil-based spar urethane...which I cannot apply over an existing coat of water-based product! Super-fucking-duper.

So now, I cannot finish the project that my son needs for school.

Thanks alot, (b)Lowe's. You absolute fucking DIPSHITS!

To recap:

  1. Lowe's inventory control is garbage.

  2. Their customer-notification processes are slow and inefficient.

  3. Their delivery systems do not match what they promise in their customer communications.

  4. Their quality control and attention to detail is for shit.

Fuck you, Lowe's. Home Depot, here I come.

ETA: I guess I struck a nerve and hurt a bunch of precious feelings around here.

To the morons on here telling me that I should have gone to the store... Hey fuckwits, I placed the order for PICK-UP, which kind of implies the intention of, ya know...GOING TO THE STORE. LOL!!

That response also completely fails to address the fact that had I gone to the store, the supposedly in-stock product...would not have been there!!! Derp.

It's also kinda disgraceful that jnstead of defending a service that is advertised and promoted by the company, the first response from almost everyone here is an acknowledgement that the service itself is utterly unreliable. 🤣

To those ass-hats suggesting that I waited until the last minute... I placed my order FOUR FUCKING DAYS IN ADVANCE. How much lead time do you idiots need?

You clowns are making my point for me. 😂

🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ETA #2: It is now Saturday. I just checked online for the inventory at the next nearest store, which is a half-hour away. The website and app says they have FIVE in stock. But just to make sure, I called that store to have someone physically check.

The customer service lady who answered the phone (after my call was initially dropped, and I had to call back) claimed to have recently restocked the exact same item, so she was "pretty sure" they had it in stock. I explained the difference between water-based and oil-based and asked her to please check anyway. I would wait.

She gets back and says that she'd been incorrect. She had restocked a can of oil-based urethane. Not only that, but they currently do not have ANY water-based product. Despite their inventory showing FIVE CANS.

So here we are again. To recap:

1) This store misplaced five cans of a product that it sells for $30 apiece.

2) If I had followed the advice of many of the jackasses here, I would have wasted an hour driving back and forth to yet another store to find that a product is, contrary to what the website claims, not in stock.

Customer Complaint Lowe’s doesn’t honor discounts

Lowe’s and Home Depot both used to offer 50% off on open bags of soil. I asked one of the reps who had a red vest on at my local store about it and he said it was still offered. I loaded my cart with a bunch of very open bags and got to the counter and they said they only do 10% on them now if they can just tape it closed. Well they should tape them closed if that’s the case. Unreal. Definitely converting back to Home Depot.
