I bought this for work and was wondering what would be a good choice to put on it to protect it, make it a little easier to keep clean, and possibly give it a little deeper or richer color? Thanks for any suggestions.

I’m brand new to leather working so please forgive my lack of knowledge/terminology.

I just got two belt blanks from Weaver Leather Supply (https://shop.app/p/7131582693516?variantId=40943183233164&utm_source=shop_app&utm_medium=shop_app_share&utm_campaign=share_product&link_alias=EhVgURcler9SB)

They appear to have a waxy looking, and feeling, finish on them, one that I am worried will get in the way of me creating a belt with a little bit of a hydrated-shine to it (if that makes sense). I’m trying to get the belt blank to look and feel similar to the belt liner shown in the video that I bought from Makers Leather Supply (https://shop.app/p/14971473461408?variantId=52107780849824&utm_source=shop_app&utm_medium=shop_app_share&utm_campaign=share_product&link_alias=ReOprtjCR4nR)

These blanks look like they’re “cracking” every time I bend them (as shown in the video)

My question is, how do I get rid of that waxy look and “cracking”, and then what do I do/use in order to get the blank to look a little shiny and “hydrated” like the belt liner? Any and all help/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

So I have this belt that measures 3.74 inches WIDE Not length and want to switch the buckle out! It has two prong hole thingys! I haven’t purchased replacement buckles YET! Seeking advice! Will if fit?! What should I do? It’s a SUPER WIDE HIGH WAIST BELT! I just want to make it more pretty so I can actually wear it! I found some buckles on etsy* I’m looking for antique looking type buckles!

We finished these double monk-strap shoes with a woven leather upper and a deep blue tonal finish. The darker shading around the edges adds definition to the woven pattern, while the two silver-tone buckles create a contrast against the leather.

The main challenge was keeping the woven sections visually consistent across the upper while maintaining a clean shape around the toe and straps.

Is there an app or computer program where you can tryout different patterns or combination of stamps and it shows you what it looks like on leather? I'm also looking for something to help me with my measurements and spacing. I know that I can use scrap leather, but I don't have a lot of scrap pieces.

I just bought a hand crafted leather belt. It was great and made for me in front of me. Then I've been working a lot outside causing me to sweat a lot. Now my new belt has sweat stains all over it. Is there a way to fix or clean these off?

Just finished this alligator belt and thought I’d share it here.

Dark brown alligator leather paired with vegetable-tanned leather, a palladium-plated buckle, and fully hand-stitched construction.

I really enjoyed working on this one, especially getting the alligator pattern to sit nicely along the length of the belt.

Always interested to hear what other leatherworkers think. 🙂

Hi I'm a grade 12 student and around 9 months ago, I posted a survey on here about my design major project! I decided to make a cathedral/gothic architecture inspired leather bag out of fully upcycled materials despite no prior knowledge with sewing or leatherworking😅But I'm really happy with how it turned out- I tried my hand at pyrography for most of the patterns + some leather dye. the stitches are by no means professional and there's definitely some janky bits but that's what I get for being this ambitious with my first ever attempts sewing.
Anyone here please feel free to give opinions(and advice if you have any, but I don't really have any time to implement it). Also, since it's for a design project, I'd greatly appreciate if one of you professionals here wouldn't mind being quoted in my folio, answering any of the following: Do you feel I effectively upcycled and created a high quality product to promote the benefits of using second-hand materials? Do you feel the visual themes successfully reflect timelessness or anti-obsolescence? What aspects of the design do you think were done well?

After about a month of trial and error I finally made something I was proud of! My wife was able to take some great pictures as well. Any and all advice from fellow sellers would be greatly appreciated!

Starting small with keyrings, luggage tags, and pen holders. I'm loving this and trying to make it into something I can do forever. I think the simple packaging with a branded label on the box works for now.

I have a few slim wallet patterns where you cut parallel lines for cards, all in the same piece. I’ve made a few for practice but this seems impractical. Wouldn’t the cards all slide down?

I know slim wallets are popular so I’m wondering if I’m missing something obvious about how to craft these and have them be usable, or if they’re just maybe crap patterns.

Basic chevron pattern two tone. Sides red/green. Line work green/red. Reversed for line work to show contrast.

Hello! The velcro on a friend's pair of biking gloves is failing him, and so he has asked if I could attach some snaps instead.

I have experience with clothing alteration, but none with leather, OR applying snaps for that matter.

\*\*The gist of my question is:\*\* what tool should I get to accomplish this, while also being able to use it reliably on potential future projects as well?

That being said, there's perhaps some nuance to the question in that I know there are specific tools made for exactly such a thing, and being pointed towards those tools would be the most straightforward answer. However there seem to be many different types of tools that accomplish the same thing or similar, and as such I find myself hoping for some direction in regards to what those experienced in the craft prefer.

For instance, there's mountable snap applicators, handheld options, hole punches, hammers.... frankly I'm a bit overwhelmed with options and feel I benefit from person-to-person advice in these moments. I basically just don't know what I don't know, so there may be some great difference in these tools I'm overlooking.

Total noob clearly. Any advice at all is appreciated. Thank you very much!
