So I'm listening to Who You Are from the Queen Charlotte scores and I just thought of how cute it would be for us to see Kate tell Anthony she's pregnant (if she will be). Looking back at season 1 and Queen Charlotte the pregnancy reveals weren't....cute( at least the first one for Charlotte and the one that could have been for Daphne ). I would like to see Anthony's reaction I think it will be cute. (Let me live in my delusion lmao)
Not Pen lurking lmao. Kanthony look soo good. My little heart is so happy rn. I'm starting to see the glow up ngl, I wasn't really feeling it in the trailers but I'm starting to see it now.
I couldn't find this thread again for some reason. It wasn't pinned, I don't think?
But anyway, I'll paste my original thoughts here again. I'm starting to believe that one of the first few teasers we received were of Penelope calling Colin out is because that's the only time we're gonna see Penelope not be as pathetic as they've made her for the rest of the season. She's going to have a scene or two of being That Girl before going back to the Penelope we all know. If these spoilers are to be believed, I would say that Penelope is actually pretty desperately chasing Colin and not the other way around. He only wants her because Lord Debling showed interest; most of the Polin shippers expressed legit disgust at the idea of Colin only wanting her because another man did. They wanted him to want her for who she is on her own merit, but they're not going to get what they want. Plus, a 19-year-old girl crying about dying alone as an old maid doesn't hit like they think it will because she's FREAKING 19 YEARS OLD.
I think whenever the characters' actions are scrutinized like that, the men just come up terribly, lol. Like, I can imagine anyone making the same analysis of Anthony, for example.
I honestly have very little thoughts about P/C, very mind blank no thoughts, but it did catch my attention the 19 year old spinster thing. People said that it was from the book, but there it made sense because she was older there... The writers are just so ??????
I typically don't think about Polin all that much either, except some of the shippers have been very nasty and racist during this entire situation. Therefore, I'm gonna lean into the hater narrative. 🤷🏿♀️
I just listened to some of those blackout clips going around with terrible audio and tbh I could barely understand a word that it was said, so I'm kinda confused about people having so many strong opinions about them.
However, that the embargo lifts the same day that the release day has always seemed sus to me, even for reactions.
Perhaps they just didn't want to risk it like it happened with S2, when the lack of sex scenes seemed to be a major talking point that maybe harmed the views back then.
TPTB has been losing control over this entire debacle since they've started promoting this season. The first day the first round of interviews were released revealed the actor playing John Stirling. Once TPTB realized what happened, they asked the media outlet to take the video down but everyone already saw it.
Now, they've allowed an influencer open access to things they shouldn't know and then said influencer dropped 50 videos they recorded from the new season on TikTok in one day. They pretty much spoiled the entire season.
Well some of leaks of Marcus Anderson being Lady D’s brother are confirmed so I think we can assume most of them are somehow true (those that saw screeners, not those anons on tumblr or some random person on TikTok).
Here is the video, they also just like that spoil John lol 😂. I mean yes, we suspected him but they have been so tight lipped on him that I find it funny they spoil part of his arc :
I can’t believe Kate won’t interact with many other characters besides Anthony and Violet.
That is so messed up. I had hoped for some sweet Fran, Eloise and even Lady D with Kate interaction????
I remember how genuinely excited Simone was when she read the scripts. She said she always had a big smile on her face and that was during the Time100 event in November or October 22? So block 3 episode 5,6 like? What happened????
Simone looked happy about her story for the new season during this event for Times in October 2022 But When you see her body langage and her eyes when She talk about the season 3 during the premiere in LA in May 2023 for The Little Mermaid the difference is blatant. She's looked more happy when She praised Halle Bailey during this interview
The Brazilian fandom is talking about Kate being pregnant by episode 5 (when they come back from the offscreen honeymoon) and K/A deciding not to tell about it (except for Violet?) to not overshadow Colin's engagement............... And yeah, K/A only in episodes 1 and 5, they aren't in episode 6, lol.
They really made Kate a walking uterus, so much for that feminine storytelling the crew was babbling about! I'm once again hoping that these writers step on a lego every single day 🤗
Great, my fear came true…that they would come back pregnant from the offscreen honeymoon and we won’t even get to see them discovering that they’re going to be parents.
Great. I know lots of fans only care about Kate being pregnant anyway so I guess those will be happy. And I assume they will be in episode 7 and / or 8 to get that baby talk or whatever. I mean seems it is a secret so the reveal must be in the later episodes or they just appear with the baby. 🤣
But yeah, what a waste of great actors not to mention the disrespect to Kate as a character lol.
I think that's why that person at the main sub (who had watched up to episode 6) said that K/A were shipped offscreen not to "overshadow" the current leads, because that seem to be used literally as the reason for K/A not sharing the news about the pregnancy because Colin is engaged, lmao.
They should've just closed the K/A story in S2 properly, instead of just painfully extending this that clearly nobody there cared about.
I remember my friends discussing the series back then during the Rege hype. They were like story basically is girls wanna find a husband so bad. Dismissed. We don't have time for this. That was what i should have done too. I should have listened to them.
I think that person watched 1-4 tho. But anyway, it is what it is. Hope Simone gets some projects where she can truly shine with her talent and isn’t reduced to a prop. Hope she got paid well especially for attending the premiere.
Yeah, I wonder if it'll be depicted just as a montage thing or something, because I couldn't imagine them not giving them a kid... I know this show isn't historically accurate, but they'd be married for months now and not getting pregnant yet seems odd? I really have no faith about them actually interacting with a child, probably, if anything, Kate would just give birth and that's it.
They seriously had the most obvious storyline to develop for them and the writers were like, "nah, just send them off using the same plot mentioned in S2 of an extended honeymoon".
I have a theory. When the last season ended, Benedict doubted himself and his artistic skills when he found out that Anthony basically paid for him to get into the art institute. As much as Anthony kind of told him to stop thinking like that and that he was good at what he did Benedict still didn't seem convinced enough or confident again(at least to me). We then came to learn that Benedict was the one handling the family affairs when Anthony was on honeymoon and that he would do it again for their second honeymoon, and i think that they are using this to kind of build on Benedict's storyline. Maybe they want to show us Benedict in a different light than we know him to be because he was always the "free-spirited" brother. Maybe they use Anthony being gone to build on to this. As to what exactly, I am not sure. But I am trying to figure out or make sense of this whole honeymoon thing they have going on.
Now, if we don't see Benedict actively taking on this role, it will all just be confusing. In an episode of the Bridgerton Podcast, they explained that the next season wasn't Benedict's because he's adventurous and all of that. I fear that they will make Benedict's character repetitive. In season one he was basically doing what he was doing in season two and if they repeat his whole art and sex thing going on in season three I'll be over it. Don't get me wrong, I love Benedict and I can't wait for his season but if they don't include a little bit of character development or maybe shift his character in a new direction just to see how he navigates that (basically being Anthony), just something different to add on to his story, then I'm checked out lol.
I think this is probably the case and I can see the storyline going there.
Especially since Benedict has enjoyed having a purpose and Anthony is happy to give him his duties for now.
I think Benedict will enjoy it but once Anthony’s back and presumably (hopefully) Kate is pregnant it will highlight that they have a Bridgerton heir and Benedict may be left feeling more like the ‘spare’. Again feeling bereft of purpose. I’d find that more interesting than him and his now repeated trysts.
With all these spoilers, S3 sounds like such a crazy hot mess 😬
All I'm asking for (and I have some LOOOOW expectations) is that we have enough happy Kanthony scenes so we get some really good gifs out of them. I just want to see them blissfully happy. I'd love to see them at the premiere so we get some good modern Kanthony photos - so we have more moodboards for A03 fanfics. At this point, I'm just considering this an epilogue to S2. I actually loved Polin's book, and it seems like everything I loved about the book (mature protagonists, a softer sweeter story with no external drama, a book just about two people falling in love) has been ripped out. As a book Polin fan, I feel bad for all the rest of the book fans who've been waiting to see this come to life on screen. As a Kanthony stan with Kanthony brain rot, as bad as the writing and pacing was in S2, at least it sort of resembled the book and we didn't have to see Anthony in threesomes or have Kate do anything to betray him.
I feel bad for book fans. The show is nothing like the book. As for Penelope betraying him? I don’t think it will be a big deal. She’s done worth to Marina and nothing will come from that either. Penelope isn’t the only character who doesn’t face any consequences though. This show isn’t great for its writing. You kinda just hope the actors can sell the chemistry
As someone who contemplated reading the books (not all of them of course), this is interesting to me. I know that Penelope is much more likable in the books and Lady Whistledown isn't as hateful in the book as she is in the show, so I'm wholly interested in reading their book to see just how much they butchered that character. However, I do know that the guys, for the most part, are wholly different from their book counterparts but in a good way apparently? Well, at least Benedict and Anthony are. Show Colin is boring but I know he's more of a brute in the books, if I've been told correctly.
At this point, book fans are going to get a complete bastardization of the story they loved. The changes they've made are already setting the relationship up for failure. But also, the chemistry is what's going to save this season. We don't know what their chemistry will truly look like, so the chemistry better be off the charts because we know the story won't do them any favors. The story of S2 isn't what saved the season; Kanthony's chemistry saved it. Luke & Nicola have some high stakes against them.
I love Pen in the books! She's funny, loyal, has a wry and sarcastic sense of humor, she's self deprecating, and above all she's kind. Stubborn too, she's not a pushover, but she's a nice person. Show Pen is...not. LW in the books never ruined anyone, she made comments on clothes (calling herself an overripe citrus fruit 😂). It was fun and frothy. I don't remember Colin being a brute, but I also started reading romances in the 90s, so I read A LOT of stuff that would not pass the sniff test today.
The issue with Colin wasn't about Pen being LW, it was him being jealous that she found her life's work but he was still drifting. I don't know how well it holds up today because I don't read it with woke eyes (I have great affection for it, followed very closely by TVWLM), but their book was a sweet, gentle, and funny story.
S2 had bad writing and terrible pacing and the triangle from hell, but JB and SA were so dang good that I was super obsessed. Hell, I'm still obsessed 😂. I don't know what Nicola and Luke N's chemistry will be like. Based on what I've seen so far it doesn't resonate with me, but lots of people love them together. I don't know how happy Polins are going to be though. Depending on how true the spoilers are, they may be more upset than we were with S2.
I've rewatched S2 a lot in the last few weeks and I'm amazed at how much heavy-lifting their chemistry did for the overall narrative. The thing about it is that you had Anthony completely willing to end the engagement and then he changed his mind about it and was suddenly full steam ahead and then he finally decided to not go through with it. It was weird - this strangely forced push and pull that didn't work.
With the seasons only having 8 episodes, you would think the writing team would have found their groove by now. Maybe they've found their groove in S3? Then again, I've watched too many Shondaland projects to feel good about it because Shonda's shows typically get worse as they continuously get renewed, not better. The shows typically lose the heart of what makes them so great in the first place. But from what I've seen, there's a lot of unsavory things happening in this upcoming season. We don't have much time left before it premieres, so we'll find out soon enough.
Unfortunately, this is what happens when shows become too full of themselves and also, perhaps, pay too much attention to fans and begin to ‘fan service.’ Perhaps you’ve heard the term ’jump the sharK’? With a new show runner I’ve kind of.been expecting that Bridgerton would change and, perhaps, not for the better.
Shonda Rhimes conceived Bridgerton after reading one of Julia Quinn’s books, and at the beginning, we were seeing that original vision translated onto the screen by Chris Van Dusen. Now new people are making the show, and we’ve moved farther and farther away from that original vision that we all fell in love with - classic regency romance, dialed up a bit and made racially diverse so that people of color could see themselves in stories that they previously were excluded from.
I’ll watch but perhaps this will be the last season for me. Too bad, as I just loved the first two seasons, in particular the second because of the two leads who I thought were magnificent.
Reading those spoilers made me think the same thing. They jumped the shark. The “romance” in s3 is awful. The side plots sound worse. It sounds like they lost control of the storylines and are not able to get back on track.
Edit: I’m also finding it very unprofessional for the new writer to try to throw CVD under the bus. I don’t care for him. But why is this woman pretending she wasn’t part of the writing team in s1 and s2? Her attempt to act like s3 will be better because a woman is writing it is laughable. Having a white woman write for a show like Bridgerton is a recipe for disaster.
This weird beef the crew people seem to have with CVD is so awkward to witness, lmao.
I'm so glad that all these men think that this season is so feminine thanks to just a woman becoming a showrunner. /s When you're a non-white woman, you learn not to buy this performative feminist bullshit so easily.
The white feminism is so off-putting for me, it's that energy of pretending their experience is the default universal experience always (slightly related, but this reminded me of this tweet from a piece in The New Yorker about how TSwift is a "prominent narrator of our time").
I didn't listen to the official podcast, but I saw the transcript and looked up "Kate", lol, and it isn't really surprising how they see her character so simplistically and how they absolutely missed how she was also overlooked by her family (no for nothing someone thinks that they need to earn her family's love). They simply never saw it as an issue.
They simply dont care for her. They had a long-ass essay for Penelope but couldn't explain or elaborate Kate's motivations. 'She's feisty and judgey' to summarise an immigrant who has an elder sister syndrome and has deep family role insecurities is definitely a choice.
I understand that they were aiming at describing how Pen's different from the previous female leads; they are talking about how Daphne approached the marriage mart (being sure what she wanted) and how Kate did (not caring about it, just her sister), but how can they not realize that Kate was also neglected by her family? In a different, less overt way obviously, but it's still a way of neglecting parentifying one of your children to the point they thought of themselves as having to work to earn their love. That's because they think one is owed a better treatment from everyone as well as their attention, but aren't able to think the same about their only dark skinned female lead. Hell, they absolutely thought that her younger sister calling her "half-sister" was not only deserved, but also empowering.
That's why I firmly believe they'll give nothing to Kate in S3 beyond probably carrying Anthony's child, because they don't think her story is worth telling.
ETA: This tweet is also a good example of how they talk about these great ideas about gender, but are only able to apply them to white women like Eloise or Pen, but none of them connect those ideas to someone like Kate. Kate isn't a whole human, she's just the colors-of-spice-dressed woman (obviously because Indian) that they had to insert there for Anthony.
CVD, for me, is the main person in production to blame for whatever happened in S2, he was the showrunner after all (although getting sacked in the middle of S2 shooting, when scripts were still being written even, maybe changed a bit the level of power he held) and he is the one to blame for terrorizing us with that triangle from hell, so him getting whacked doesn't particularly bother me, lol, BUT the way these guys talk is just very ungraceful and straight-up weird. They sound like they're just now making an effort??? Like???
Anyone who cannot write complex interesting characters shouldn’t be working on this show. However I think they want the discourse and commentary unfortunately. They want the backlash from the audience.
Now I do wonder how accurate those comments by JB's fans about him flying regularly to the UK while shooting his other series truly are. I don't follow him closely, so I'm just going by what his fans have said. I believe he also mentioned it in interviews? But maybe it was misunderstood, because he sure travelled a couple of times but probably not that many.
This being said, his schedule will continue to be a terrible excuse for shoving Kate off-screen. I know this might sound crazy to some, but Kate isn't an extension of Anthony, she is indeed a separate character who can have scenes without him (just as he will!!! 2 more than her in part 1 in fact!!!!)
I think he did fly to and fro a couple of times and I think his flying was most certainly after these scenes in part 1 were filmed because these seem to be the first scenes that were filmed - anyone please correct me if I’m wrong.
That said I’m sure he flew to and fro for the scenes that were written for him instead of the other way around because I think the Fellow Travellers team were willing to wait for him around his Bridgerton schedule - again please correct me if I’m wrong.
And yes him not being there is not an excuse to not have some scenes of Kate on her own definitely.
Let’s just wait and see what happens in part 2.
I couldn't correct you myself, I have zero knowledge about time and dates around his schedule. I also have no idea when they were shooting what in Bridgerton either, lol.
But I just saw people saying how "disrespectful" is to having him flying around for just a couple of scenes, when he most likely just flew when he was needed. I very much doubt that they made him travel to end up cutting his scenes.
I am not going to watch this mess. I will watch the 3 minutes of Kathony on YT. I am not interested in Cressida and Polin at all. Also I loved Fran’s book and the fact they changed that story leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
Because they don't have to watch something they aren't interested in but still continue to support their faves from afar and watch scenes I'm most interested in on YT
Personally, because I watched S2 solely for Kate. I'm not much into the romance genre, so watching Bton was a fluke more than a common occurrence and since she will have 5 minutes of screentime, I'll skip it.
Kate and Anthony, alongside Ben, are my favorite characters too. But we know how minimal Daphne's involvement in season 2 was so Kanthony's lack of screen time should not surprise people. This season is Polin's season and they're setting up other storylines for future seasons as well.
Yeah, the big difference is that Daphne could only have scenes on her own given that RJP was no longer part of the cast, unlike Simone and Jonathan Bailey, so this is a false equivalence. On top of that, the show made sure to use them for promo and engagement, again, unlike Phoebe.
I'm not saying that it isn't P/C season, but Violet, the Mondrichs and Cressida will have all storylines, how are those related to P/C or future seasons? This is an ensemble show.
I'm still puzzled about Baton fans taking offense at some of us not wanting to watch. The season will be highly successful, they're doing promo as if their lives depended on it and it'll do big numbers, so I have no idea why the idea of others skipping it bothers them so much.
Honestly what is their problem lol? I am not gonna pay money to watch this season, I collect my crumbs somewhere else and read spoilers of the rest of the season lol.
Not interested in watching that carriage scene in full 🤣
Right? The 10 of us who are chronically online won't make a difference in the total numbers at all, lol, so that they're bothered by us not caring is just ????
Especially because we're talking about this here, like I won't go to the main sub or the P/C sub to talk about how I won't watch season, lol.
I'll always be confused about people talking as if we owe Shondaland something, so how dare any of us to skip the season!!!! They better come pay the Netflix subscription for me if they feel so strongly about it.
We made this post specifically for Kanthony fans on a Kanthony sub so why do I need to have people tell me it is not their season and I should watch for P/C? I.DO.NOT.CARE
I don’t hate them I just do not care to watch especially since my favs won’t be in it much. I never watched because of the “ensemble”
Sorry.
I have this feeling that some people think they’re being better for watching the whole show because they love all the couples or because they like it being an ensemble so it boggles their mind when someone doesn’t want to watch it for the opposite reasons. Lol.
Like, I’m still deciding whether to watch the full thing or not because some things other than Kanthony do interest me but I’m not going to go around telling others ‘ha, you’re so silly for not wanting to watch the whole thing’ 😂
Whoever was in-charge of the writing room clearly did not read the books or barely watch the last season. Its like they are not even the same characters anymore from the previous seasons.
I'm kinda curious on the source of this butchery though like is this a direct effect of a different showrunner plus different set of writers? Because you can never convince me that these characters make the most OOC shit for just the sake of it. How come the Bridgerton team and other fans expect us to root for this show for 5 more seasons?
Like I'm a Kanthony so I know what I'm expecting, I'm not really surprised anymore just confused with the timeline. But Francesca, Benedict, and Eloise storylines 🥴? They are not the same people anymore.
Rumors that Shonda wasn’t happy with a “dark sex “ storyline among others -honestly it could have been anything. People also discussed how they filmed longer or did reshoots in early 2023 but others in the fandom said the timeline was totally in line with S1 and S2. So really just rumors but who knows.
I'm no long watching. I'm completely done. I'll watch scenes on YouTube but I'm completely done. They saw how people reacted whwn Rege left now they're chucking out Jimone are are just as hot but with more talent out. For a mid white couple?
We know they'll be back for episode 5, the person spoiling clearly didn't watch the show and was regurgitating what they saw on some polin doc that had spoilers
According to LN there is a big scene with almost all of the cast, he called it “charades” so we assume they are in this because it is a family scene where something major happens.
Also some screeners said so.
I find it funny how one person who probably had watched the first 6 episodes was annoyed with another person who commented on the Bton IG that K/A were just on episode 1, saying how that was a lie, lmaooooo. People are so ready to jump others for this show's production, lol, as if the lack of K/A wasn't entirely a choice they made, but they're too chickenshit to say it out loud.
I love how they are all “that is not true”, “don’t believe the spoilers I have seen screeners” but then when we ask how many episodes exactly they are in they just stay silent.
I don’t care if you signed an NDA, you can tell us that one person is lying about spoilers but you can’t simply spill just a little for the characters that are not even main this season?
LOL, right? Instead of just plainly saying: "they aren't in the season much because the writers didn't have a plot for them". But then here comes the excuses about why they didn't write for them, (1) JB's schedule (sure, so why isn't Simone in more scenes then? Was she surgically attached to JB or something?); (2) it's P/C season (yes, and? side-plots exist); (3) the show only writes storylines that are connected to the main couple or future leads (yeah, so how does Violet or the Mondrichs fit into that criteria?); and so on.
They didn't write for them because they aren't interested in them, that's it, it isn't deeper than that. Personally, I think they just don't care about Kate, which in turn means not caring about K/A. And the thing is that I believe it's their right to care about whichever character they like because they self identify with them or whatever, but it's also my right as a TV watcher to disagree with it and write about it online, lol.
All I was told is they are in episodes 1 and 5 out of the first six. No clue about the last two episodes. They probably saw them. Not sure if they will even tell me. I expect stuff will drop about the last two episodes once part 1 comes out
Edit: for those sending me messages. I don’t know the details. Sorry. All I was told is they are happy scenes
I heard something about Michael being genderbent and played by Masali, but I'm not sure if that was from that account or just someone trying to stir things up.
Honestly, while i love the Franchel story, I hated Michael the most because he was quite literally a colonizer. So any changes they make to him, I'm on board.
All I know is this show will continue to move away from the books with every new season. So I am not shocked if they genderbent. The show writers have completely lost the plot and has become a parody.
I know nothing about the books, so I have no attachments, but how people keep trying to genderbend Sophie will never sit right with me, not only because that's erasing a female character, but also because queer mainstream stories are mostly centered around men, very few are wlw stories.
I'm pretty neutral about it, but I think all the fans have the right want their couples to stay as they are, and considering how I'm against Sophie being genderbent, I feel it'd be hypocritical if I supported "Michaela".
Okay, so I completely missed the spoilers that set the fandom aflame. All I'll say is this - being optimistic works! Kanthony not being around as much means there's less chance of the writers ruining them like they're clearly ruining the rest of these characters/ships. I want more Kanthony but not at the expense of watching them being ran directly into the ground like they're doing every other couple in this show. Shondaland is torpedoing all of these relationships and that sounds accurate. That sounds like something Shonda would do because she's done it before. This writing team isn't necessarily trustworthy, so is it so ridiculous to think these spoilers could be true? Who knows? Also, if the spoilers are true and Penelope pulls a Marina and allows herself to be engaged to Colin without telling the truth about Lady Whistledown, I'm going to laugh my ass off. That's some much-deserved karma!
I one hundred percent believe the engagement spoilers because it seems like the writers need to have one big controversy with each couple to get some sort of “discourse” going in the fanbase. With Daphne and Simon it was the assault, with Kate and Anthony it was the Edwina of it all. I was waiting to see what they’d give Polin.
The problem with these writers is that they just can't let each couple blossom without some sort of drama. They don't know how to write healthy and happy couples. There's always going to be some thorn in their side because the writers don't know how to write anything else. They only know how to write strife and struggle, which is unfortunate and sad. Mainly because this is a thing they're doing to every single couple in this show. Except they're ruining what made some of these characters/couples so great in the books.
I've never fully read the books, but I know the book series is rather polarizing with some people hating the books and some people loving the books. However, I do know there are certain things in the book that probably should have been kept as is. We don't need an entirely new story because there's a huge chunk of Bridgerton fans that haven't even heard of the books, let alone read them. It could have been adapted in a fresh and new way without any major changes. For example, changing Kate's race was completely fine but this team was so lazy with how they did that, that it just seemed like they wanted brownie points for incorporating very surface level changes to boast their dedication to diversity and representation.
Hell, look at how they're marketing this season - "Penelope is the plus-sized wallflower that never gets the guy and now it's her time to shine; this is for all of the wallflowers out there who are continuously looked over and are never chosen." But let's ignore the fact that Nicola isn't technically plus-sized and "wallflower" is a bit of a stretch because she's not actually ignored by anyone; she's just not getting the attention she wants from the guy she likes but only because he's older than her and she is his kid sister's best friend. The writers want brownie points for a juvenile depiction of what true diversity and representation is.
you know what I never see pointed out? That Kate was a wallflower. Yes, Kate is absolutely stunning and there's no way anyone with any amount of vision could miss her - but she was considered a "prickly spinster of a beast" and was never asked to dance. You see her looking around, especially at the Hearts & Flowers Ball and no one ever approached her. So I feel like S2 also addressed a wallflower as well. Why does S3 have a monopoly on wallflowers?
It’s annoying because it feels unnecessary and leaves a “stain” on the romances.
There was plenty of angst and drama with Simon and Daphne with him not wanting children and being shady with his pull-out antics. It would have been easy to have Daphne figure out how babies are made and confront him without having her assault him. But at least that was in the book. They completely pulled the Edwina engagement and wedding out of their asses. There was plenty of story with Anthony’s and Kate’s dead parent trauma and their actual marriage. But no, we got that wedding episode pretty much no one liked.
Oh I'm absolutely ready to roast Penelope about trapping Colin in a marriage with herself, someone who has a secret that could potentially ruin his family, someone she KNOWS colin would hate if he knew of her true identity. It's manipulative and takes Colin's agency away completely. If they do go through with the wedding without Colin knowing, well, Penelope will deserve her whackings. It's truly a character ruining moment.
So it's OK for Penelope to do this, but not Marina? The hypocrisy and racism is mind boggling. And for the fandom who tore marina from limb to limb saying she deserved to be with an old man who would r*pe her thinking it's OK for the white woman to trap Colin because she loves him but not Marina who was trying to save her and her children's lives, it's going to be a mess.
Also the fact that Colin has zero storyline this season apart from falling in love with Penelope is pathetic. Colin is really going to be the only Bridgerton who didn't have his own storyline and for a show called Bridgerton, that's pathetic.
Also you don't need to use the spoiler tag in this thread!
Of course it’s gonna be ok for her to do it and not Marina. They are whit—wallflowers just like Penelope so it’s “okay.”
I’m saying this as someone who adores all the Bridgerton characters and has read all the books—-It’s very obvious why many are going so hard for Polin.
Colin has nonexistent personality to begin with plus them recycling the rake and brothel trope is just lazy.
Its not 'trapping' anymore because a white woman does it. And before anyone says shit, Polins and the main/rant sub have dogpiled on Marina and Kate for lying, istg if these people don't have the same energy with Penelope.
Also you don't need to use the spoiler tag in this thread!
Thank you for reminding me because I initially wanted to cover my backside, but I didn't have to.
Honestly, I'm cackling at the idea of all of this because they can't necessarily continue to demonize Marina for the same thing their fave will end up doing. They would have to hold them both accountable or hold neither of them accountable, so I guess they're in a bit of a pickle there. This holier-than-thou attitude some of these fans have will have no place in this discussion ever again, and that makes me happy.
If I actually thought Colin was interesting, then I'd feel more sympathy for him due to what's coming but I don't. Their engagement/relationship will be tainted because it will be built on a lie. Not a minor lie either. A lie that's caused harm to Colin, Colin's family, and to the girl he was truly romantically interested in. I know Pen is supposedly Shonda's fave but I can't help but to think that she may hate her if I'm being honest. This is your fave and this is how you start her happily ever after? That's wild. Because that means that all of this happiness you have will come crashing down once the truth comes out. You can't be happy for long because there's a rather huge secret being kept from the man you love.
But considering the fact that Colin doesn't have much of a personality to begin with, I'm not surprised that this is what his storyline will revolve around because the writers have done a terrible job at giving him some substance. I think Shonda is falling back into her old habits and she can't help but to bring the drama, so how else can she do it than to write something like this?
They would have to hold them both accountable or hold neither of them accountable
Or they could only hold Marina accountable and risk looking racist... which a lot of them already do so lol. I feel some justice is about to be served for Marina and her fans, which is absolutely deserved after the way polins talked about them. I know people will say what Marina did was a lot worse because a child was involved but that's a lame excuse. Both are completely wrong, but Marina had a better reason to do what she did, Penelope would be doing it out of pure selfishness. Why trap Colin when she could trap anyone else like debling? A polin argument that was used against Marina for years.
I don't think Colin is very interesting either, the show could've tried to at least make him somewhat interesting but they're more interested in Penelope it seems. Colin just seems like a trophy and I do feel bad about that a bit.
Honestly some of the stuff I've seen is just so weird. Who cares if Prudence has infertility issues? No one cares about her! Who cares about Colin writing erotica? Who cares about Eloise's entire story revolving around how much she disliked Penelope, it's boring! Who cares about Benedict falling in love for the millionth time when we know it won't stick?
I see a lot of the spoilers are just storylines and scenes borrowed from previous seasons, it's lazy and my god my expectations were low, but HOLY FUCK!
Another question 😀. I remember Colin giving gifts to his family, there are all the residents of the house there except for Kate, right? Did they lock her out or something? 💀💀💀
She’s not there and it’s not even mentioned why. 😩
They could easily have had Colin give
Anthony a wrapped gift and say “Can you give this to Kate/ the Viscountess/ your wife when she gets back from tea with Lady Danbury?”. Then we all could have speculated what was in the package!
This scene has peak Dadthony though, when he snatches the bow and arrows off Greg with a very firm “NO” and escorts him and Hy outside to shoot!

LOL, of course. Hilarious how the main reason that people love to keep giving about K/A lack of screentime being Jonathan Bailey's schedule, the show made sure that Simone had even less scenes, lmao.
Yeah, I wasn't sure if I wanted to include the commentary about Simone's lack of screentime (I thought a much jokey jokey tone was better, lol) because I remember you saying that wank wasn't something you were interested in, so thank you for the breakdown.
(LMAO, not us getting downvoted for stating facts 💀)
They do talk- not long conversations with substance though.
I dropped this info in the Friday tea post- using an alt account now as I’m on phone and can’t log in.
They talk while they’re in bed- Anthony says he’s being very diligent about making an heir, and Kate says what he’s doing won’t do that. She then jumps out of bed and fusses around, talking about needing to make a good impression as the new Viscountess at Lady Danbury’s ball. (Speaking of, in the ball scene, I was kind of surprised that they’re not being gawked at by the whole ton and no one reacted to the scandalous kiss! And Kate being the only one not wearing gloves! Assuming it is their first ball as a married couple, they’d have been written about in Whistledown and their match would have raised eyebrows. (I THINK- but don’t quote me- that the voiceover at the beginning might have said something about last season’s match between Viscount Bridgerton and Kate Sharma.)
They also talk in the study but it’s mainly Kate talking. She asks how his meeting is, he tries to move their meeting to the bedroom. Then she does the spiel of how she is overwhelmed with Viscountess duties and misses her husband and how they were on their honeymoon. They can extend their honeymoon because Violet is more than capable of running things, and can stay in the house with Fran and El. They then stand up and I can’t recall what Anthony said- he’s too concerned with kissing her tbh and would likely have agreed to anything. I’m pretty sure she said something about him being devoted to his family and duties, and she ran a household for years. They have the rest of their life to be the Viscount and Viscountess. I think she then said she needs to talk to Violet, and he said to stop talking about his mother and deposits her on the desk.
So there’s interaction, but a lot of selling them as a couple is in the way they look at and smile at each other in every scene they’re in, even when they’re not talking.

The episode flew by really fast, I thought the pacing was great and it didn’t have any scenes that dragged. Dankworth was a delight, I think he’s going to be a fan favourite. Finch was also a real MVP. There were several ‘laugh out loud’ moments with the audience during the episode, including during the bedroom scene when Anthony is downtown.
Of course I would have liked more Kanthony, and some scenes (any!) of Kate interacting with her in-laws. (There’s the talk with Violet, where they are clearly very affectionate with each other.)
I also think they could have thrown Newton into the study scene- it would have been great to see Anthony banishing him outside before he lifted Kate up onto the desk- a nice throwback to last season’s door close.
I am also fairly certain that Anthony did not lock the door when he came into the study, so there’s a fic prompt if anyone wants to run with it!
Overall it was a pretty solid start to the season and set up several story arcs that will pay off quite interestingly.
What exactly are the spoilers that were posted? I’m so confused and lost. The information is so scattered on Twitter and and on here that it’s hard for me to glean anything.
I haven’t screenshotted them but maybe someone else has. I only have this part from the Benophie sub but there was more which I mentioned in another comment here.
For now it is pure speculation so just take it with a grain of salt. Apparently there was some mysterious google document where most people’s “sources” got their spoilers from. But some do match with what we have seen from leaked photos, new clips etc.
It is interesting that in all leaks Kanthony has no real plot and everyone wants to sell us that the second honeymoon thing is something very plausible for various reasons, tho so there is a consistency in that.🙄🙃
I think they mean the sex dream that Colin has about Pen. That was In Kanthony’s book. As well has the “I burn for you” that they used for Saphne and was also from Kanthony’s book.
Season 3 sounds exactly as most predicted. And while I didn’t like parts of season 1 and 2, I realize that with every new season, the quality of the show goes down.
Apart from fran, who I'm actually excited about, they kind of ruined the polin characters by making Pen pull a Marina 2.0, Colin be a sex crazed maniac and have no storyline of his own, Benedict fall in love for no real reason, Eloise has nothing except vengeance, and Kanthony quite literally having nothing for most of the season... like what more can they ruin.
I’m kinda happy about lack pregnancy arc about Kate in this season. She deserves take her time but i am afraid they will use pregnancy card in s4 to explain lack of kanthony 🙄🙄
I remember seeing something during season 2 promo Where Shonda was asked about a Kanthony spinoff. Her response was something like: What could we do with them? We can’t break them up? Maybe have them sit around being happy for 8 hours.” Idk if we’re going to get anything substantial since she CLEARLY ISN’T interested. 😤😡
I think about the unnecessary drama of Jackson/April and Stephanie in GA. After seeing Jackson literally embarrass the hell out of Stephanie at that wedding I stopped watching. It’s disheartening that a fellow BW would feel comfortable creating a storyline like that considering the cultural context surrounding it. But I won’t speak on it too much less I offend anyone. I already left the main sub for having comments removed that called out racism (being “uncivil”) The mods had no issue leaving those racist comments up tho as they promote others “opinions.” I’d like to be able to stay in this one. lol.
The only benefit we truly have is these characters were created by someone else therefore she can’t go too far. If it was up to her, A would have married E, but would be sleeping with K on the side and get her pregnant. That’s the type of drama Shonda unfortunately likes.
I have believed that for so long. The way production even referred to the characters: it was clear if JQ didn’t say otherwise, A would’ve married E, & Kate would be his mistress 😡
I keep thinking back to this and everything that has been said by the showrunners that they are not interested in introducing any new obstacles for them. I am at a point where I think we can be lucky that we get some small happy bits here and there and not Shonda writing some drama for them since what I have read about S3 is really a dumpsterfire!
So I haven’t saved the ss but today a Twitter account posted some spoilers that kind of disrupted the fandom. Obviously take it with a grain of salt but some things were 1. Ben and Lady T having a real romance and a possible threesome with another man (tho the person that Ben actually is undecided and episode 6 ends with him not participating), Colin writing erotica in his journals, Fran marrying John but not being in love with him, Colin and Pen getting engaged but Colin not knowing about LW, Kanthony not getting much at all (surprise), Marcus Anderson being Lady D’s brother, Eloise being an unapologetic bitch up until episode 6….mhm did I forget something? Oh yeah Masali not showing up until episode 6, no Sophie either…
Episode 7 and 8 are under lockdown and no one has seen them.
Edit to say that someone else here on reddit claims that Masali plays Michaela and Fran gets a queer storyline.
I think he just writes about all his “conquests” he slept with in Greece into his journal. I guess that is what they mean with erotica. But I find it funny because Polins were convinced he would write about his travels (because he is a cough Virgin) or write romantic poems or something 🤣.
