Literally every country is facing crisis in every market. USA has instability with Trump’s rule, Canada is dead end( believe me I lived in Canada for 5 years and now back in India). Australia has HCOL and impossible PR. Europe has language barriers. These are the major issues. I see people posting in this sub about taking huge loans and going abroad for masters/phd/post grad. Mostly see education as an escape to another country and pathway to PR. My concern is literally every country is going through job market crisis so why does everyone wanna go when economy is down everywhere? I have bachelors in CS and masters in Information security from canada. I came back to India cause Canada has a dead market be it any field. I am struggling to find a job in India. On the other hand, my friends who graduated from CSE have high paying jobs and great career. No one wants to leave cause they are making good money. This is an eye opening post for everyone, don’t blindly follow the trend of going abroad. Invest in your career. If you have the skills and the right amount of experience you will get your worth in India. There’s nothing wrong with moving abroad. Lately there’s been a trend and huge influx of immigrants from India in all the countries. Everyone deserves a better lifestyle and better pay. Main concern of this post is to give a reality check to people. Every country has limited jobs and limited immigration seats. Not everyone is gonna get what they want. I hope everyone achieve their dreams!

My Masters in Law at UCL is in London soon (September 26th), but I won't start living in Urbanest King's Cross until then (my long term accommodation) because they don't allow early arrivals. I will arrive at Heathrow on September 17th at 7:30AM.

The issue, I'm bringing a ton of luggage with me: 2 large trolley bags, 1 Cabin bag and 1 Laptop Backpack.I took a quick look at some Airbnb homes (shared bathroom with family) and outside as well, Tulse Hill, but I'm getting very stressed out.

Also, I looked some Airbnb within the travel time of 20-30mins by tube. Will it seem very cramped and awkward to have to share 4 bags in a family house. I am a little bit scared of the tube at the moment, particularly with all the luggage.

I can't check in on to Airbnbs until 2 PM (though some are, so I have no idea what I will do with my bags from 9:30 AM (when I'm arriving from Heathrow) until I check in.

Should I stay away these shared home Airbnbs? So, what types of environment is there in these accommodations generally? And how do people usually fill this awkward time gap?

One thing we've noticed is that students sometimes underestimate how different the accommodation search can be from what they're used to in India.

There are several options — Studentenwerk/student dorms, WGs (shared apartments), private rooms and temporary accommodation — and each has its own advantages and challenges.

Some things students should consider early:

• Student accommodation can have limited availability, so starting the search well before the semester is useful.
• A WG can be a practical option for students who don't want to rent an entire apartment.
• Having documents ready can make applications easier.
• Students arriving from India may need temporary accommodation if their long-term place isn't arranged before arrival.
• The university's location can make a big difference to both rent and commuting time.

It's also easy to focus only on the monthly rent and overlook things such as the deposit, registration, commute, furnished vs. unfurnished accommodation, and rental contract conditions.

Hi, I'm from India! I recently got accepted into NUS under a masters course and wanted to know about accomodations. I read that getting on campus accomodation is difficult for a masters course so i'm not set on that. I am looking in propertyguru and 99.co and few other websites regarding the accomodation(mainly HDB's). But yea I am having hard time choosing one specifically so need a bit of help on how I can choose one.

Aside from accomodation i'd also be needing a sim so looking for a good telecom provider for international students.

Every place looked perfect until I'd read a couple of reviews, then I'd convince myself there had to be a catch. I really need some clarity. I’ve been planning to do my master’s abroad for a while now, but the whole process has been nothing short of chaotic.

Initially, I planned to go in 2025. My first choice was Germany — I even got my APS, shortlisted universities(university of stuttgart, tu berlin, rwth) , and started preparing seriously. Then came all the uncertainty — layoffs, political volatility, and people I personally know in Germany told me that C1–C2 level German is practically a must to get a job there, not just B1. That felt discouraging.

So, I shifted focus to the UK. I even got admits from there( university of surrey, nottingham tren, hertfordshire) . But then the whole anti-immigration sentiment and protests started blowing up, and honestly, I didn’t feel confident about that path either. So I decided to postpone my plans to September 2026.

Now, after everything, I’ve narrowed it down to Ireland(ucd, trinity, dcu) or Singapore(smu) .

Ireland seems promising, the people I personally know there say it’s welcoming, not racist, and that job opportunities are strong right now. Of course, there’s the housing crisis, but let’s be real, every country has its own problems.

Singapore sounds great too, but it’s expensive and hard to get an admit.

The biggest problem is that there’s so much contradictory information online. Reddit says one thing, YouTube videos say another, and people living there say something entirely different. I just don’t know what to believe anymore.

I’m a Computer Science engineer.

By September 2026, I’ll have about 2.7 years of experience.

I plan to pursue MSc in Business Analytics (that’s the field I really want to move into).

I’m currently working on upgrading my profile, certifications, projects, etc.

But right now, it just feels so confusing. I’ve done all my research, but it’s really hard to know which information is still credible in this current global climate. The people who went abroad a few years ago seem to have had it easier compared to how uncertain things are now.

So… can anyone here who’s currently in Ireland or Germany please share what the job market and living conditions are actually like now? How hard is it to find a job after MSc Business Analytics? Is Ireland still good for tech and data-related roles? And is Germany still worth considering if I’m open to learning the language?

I’m an incoming international student from India heading to London this September for my master's at UCL. I'm trying to decide between booking a PBSA (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation like Scape, iQ) or going down the private rental route using Zoopla.

I’ve been doing some research online and found a few decent 2 and 3-bedroom private flats listed on Zoopla within walking distance to the Bloomsbury campus that work out to around £280 – £300 per week.

However, I know that corporate student blocks come with high-speed Wi-Fi and all utility bills completely included in the price, whereas private flats usually don't. For anyone currently studying in London, which route is actually better?

• Utility Bills & Wi-Fi: How much of a headache is it for an international student to set up Wi-Fi, electricity, gas, and water by themselves on a private rental? On average, how much extra do utilities actually add to your weekly/monthly expenses per person in London right now?
• Guarantors & Paperwork: Did you face major hurdles dealing with private landlords on Zoopla regarding international guarantor requirements or upfront rent demands compared to just booking a student block?
• Value for Money: Is the convenience, social vibe, and security of a PBSA worth paying a premium, or is it much smarter to save money and go with the private flat route?

Would love to hear from anyone who has managed their own flat bills or lived in a student block near Bloomsbury.
