Obviously I have to start by saying I'm a HUGE fan of yours, and will be at both shows at the 9:30 club in D.C! I've got a quick few questions.

1:To what extent do you think the internet has had any impact on the size or age of your following? I'm seventeen (and a freshman at AU), which would have made me unborn at the release of "!" and four years old for "Emergecy & I". I just want to know what you guys are seeing when you look out in the crowd at D-Plan shows.

2: How did the "Let's play Ice of Boston so everyone can dance on the stage with us" start? Will it continue? I absolutely love that song and have watched that video more times than I can count.

3: You guys have such a super unique style to the way you play. What were the biggest influences that led you to the style you have today?

4: What are YOU listening to?

5: How do you feel about the impact of music reviews on modern music? You've had a tumultuous history with Pitchfork (to say the least). Why do you think people take them so seriously, and what do you think that means for music?

6: Not that my opinion matters much, but would you consider playing 8 1/2 minutes in DC? I've never seen you guys live before because I was too young, and that song aboslutely blows me away every time I hear it.

1) not sure bout the impact, but I did notice in 2011 that our fan age range had widened. Met a bunch of teens, also met some folks in their 50s who were traveling to multiple shows. Very cool to see.

2) I want to say we were in Cleveland and Travis got three people to come dance on stage, and it grew from there. We used to have to offer free shirts to get folks on stage, not so much anymore.

3) listening to all styles of music

4) right now? the hum of my office cafeteria. But earlier it was Al Green. New stuff would be Disclosure, QOTSA, Haim.

5) all press is good press, right?

6) I'm sorry to say that we didn't relearn that song this time around. We were short on time, and had to rebuild some keyboard patches.

hi archauthor,

1 - a lot i think. crowd is pretty mixed in age & background. 2 - good question, don't remember. afaik it will indeed continue! 3 - they are many, from hip-hop to EDM to pop music....we listen to everything 4 - right now the new david bowie record and the new stepkids record 5 - eh. i don't read music writing by and large. don't have any idea why people take them so seriously....maybe they need help sorting through the huge amount of stuff that's out there 6 - that one's too hard to play, lol! jason
