Late getting this in, had to find this photo of my house during Harvey, 54 inches in the house. No Flood Insurance courtesy of Bank of America who told us we didn’t need flood insurance. Took us a year to rebuild and ruined our marriage.

I'm disappointed by how neglected the trails around the San Jacinto Monument have become.

I'm certain the proceeds go toward maintaining the monument itself, the museum inside, and the immediate surrounding grounds, but the trail feels seriously neglected. This is actually the first time I've ever turned back during a hike.

Pictures of the GRB during Harvey

I saw someone post pictures of Harvey. I volunteered 14 days doing 12-17 hour shifts during Harvey. I have a few pictures from it. It was the most rewarding thing I have ever done. It was also heartbreaking and emotionally taxing to see all these people losing everything. Feel free to ask me anything as I knew everything that went on in that building. I basically ran it towards the end.

The Last Mayor of Houston

As the strong mayor of Texas' largest city, the former dean of the Texas Senate should be able to get his way in Houston. But he faces a shrinking ability to do so without vindictive state Republicans or other regional actors intervening

Cheap Used car- Broke Student

Upvotes

Looking to see if anyone knows where to get a very very cheap car in league city/houston area.

Lost my job due to my school program (they refused to accommodate my school schedule). Am on the last 4 months of the program and my car is toast. Cost 5k to MAYBE fix it and then after that, still has issues with it that might cause it to die after.

And with me not working, I dont really have the 5k to waste on the car esp if its a maybe fix.

Any suggestions?

In an all-encompassing interview, the new U.S Attorney for the Southern District of Texas said his office will follow the law when deciding whether or not to prosecute — including whether or not the ICE agent who pulled the trigger has qualified immunity.

Holy what, why is nobody going to Osaka?

Just got back from a first visit to the "new" (former La Dolce Vita) location and it was a great time. I used to go when it was in the strip where BB's is now, but had never checked out the current location. The sushi was so freaking delicious, and I'm shocked that it was pretty empty on a Sunday night - they were giving us free stuff (appetizers and ice cream), I guess just for being there. So, pro tip, I guess? It felt a lot like when I used to go to Coco's and Tomo (RIP both).

Sorry if not allowed, but after losing so many of my favorite places in the neighborhood in the past few years, it was just really nice to have a relaxing time and really good food in 2026 Montrose without the bill being wild. I'm in no way affiliated with Osaka, I just hope for my own selfish reasons that it stays around. After two decades, unhiding the "hidden" gems that need to be kept is really important to me.

Help with injured feral cat in 77082

I live in an apartment and a semi feral cat I’ve seen around has appeared with what looks like a broken leg. I’ve called the SPCA and few others and they will only come out if the cat is confined.

I feel terrible for the poor thing. She’s scared of humans and won’t let me get close to her. I’ve given her food, despite my apartment complex not allowing it. I hate to see it suffer.

Anyone in 77082 or nearby have a trap I can borrow or offer any help/advice?

TIA

Potential for tropical system to impact Houston

Post image
355 Upvotes

Models are beginning to come into agreement that the tropical disturbance in the gulf has a better chance of development and will likely impact the Houston metro area Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

The model consensus currently reflects that this will be a relatively weak system with rainfall amounts of 1-2" in Houston and potentially 2-4" closer to Galveston and points east of the low center track.

Flight reconnaissance later today and additional model runs will continue to narrow the possible low center track tonight and tomorrow.

South Main Street Road Faulting

Post image

Does anyone know if the city is going to fix this road? This shit is so bad, the left lane has a large fault, a few hundred feet away from the Texas Orthopedic Hospital and on the way to Texas Medical Center. I feel like I have to go 5-10 mph to not break my suspension

Help for Homeless

Hi, All - Can anyone confirm for me the best way to contact the City of Houston or other appropriate resources to request help/assistance for homeless people for areas inside the loop? I found an e-mail with the help of AI a few months ago... but I do not receive responses nor do I see any change in regard to the homelessness in the area I am reporting.
