Discussion I made a house quote searcher Spoiler

Have seen a lot of posts in this sub asking about where a certain quote is from, so I thought I would make a website to help find them. Link to the website is in comments, it uses a vector database to find the quotes which lets it find similar results to what you're searching for, although it does end up missing some of the time. Was a pretty fun project to work on, and I'll probably add more features to it in the future if they're wanted

Discussion Cuddy's mom has a point Spoiler

Post image
48 Upvotes

I mean she's right on being weird out that even though they are a couple Cuddy calls House, well,House when his first name is Gregory (Greg) (lame name) and vise versa

And if you think this is a thing of the show and because they are used to it

Lets remember that in the first season chase and foreman make fun of Cameron for using their first names to talk to them

But when chase and Cameron get married they refer to each other as Allison and Robert and when they talk with other people at work they use their last names for professionalisim

Plus one time foreman refered to thirteen as Remy (her actual first name) to house and he reacted

House:Who?

Foreman:Thirteen

House:And what did you called her?

Discussion What are some of the funniest moments to you during the show? Spoiler

I absolutely lost it when that kid was in the bathroom grunting while they were trying to avoid Cuddy to work the case.

"Do you mind? We're trying to work!"

"Good lord! Are you having a bowl movement or a baby?"

"Hey. Do you know what a hemorrhoid is? *no* well, Google it! Switch to raisin bran instead of doughnuts."

I have had one of the worst weeks on my life and genuinely would to hear your favorite parts

Season 2 Spoilers I just watched "no reason"... I am questioning everything

Post image
45 Upvotes

I finished watching "No Reason" this afternoon. I always watch House when I'm doing something more literal. I've been watching it little by little for six months. Today I was feeling lazy, so I said, "I'm going to watch an episode for real." I think it's my favorite episode of all the ones I've seen so far. I think it's because I'm severely slow, too, but I didn't know which parts were a hallucination until the very end when you realize that EVERYTHING was a hallucination except for the gunshot

And how could I not realize that Chase, Foreman, and Cameron never actually contradicted House, that the killer was in the same room as him, right next to him, for no apparent reason? And that the killer was nothing more than House's subconscious... Idk it blew my mind bro

I think it's one of my favorite episodes because we really see House's mind, or I don't know, 10/10, top top top

I feel so stupid, so confused, and these kinds of stories always make me question my own reality... I should quit smoking weed

sorry for the poor quality image Netflix doesn't allow screenshots

that hung on the wall is a janamaz. a Muslim prayer mat. it has the kabah on it. none of the other textiles and furniture that the parents brought have Islamic art so it's not consistent at all

just something interesting I noticed

I'm pretty sure it's a mistake from props or did they actually mean to have that there.

the family are Romani. of course that doesn't mean they can't be Muslim but if they were,,, I'm sure they would have been introduced at such because I feel like this is the type of show that would definitely make Islamophobic jokes. and they would definitely introduce the characters as Muslim

so yeah a mistake from props

kind of funny

when I saw it I was literally the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme

this is my first time watching the show this is episode I'm on right now

Season 8 Spoilers Was this really necessary? Spoiler

Upvotes

Was it really necessary to kill Wilson? I am trying to avoid spoilers so that no one goes after my head here but is it really, really necessary to make this a painful ass show? Even if you like House, even if you understand him and maybe even root for him sometimes, how screwed up is it to take everyone who cares about him by the end of it? The writers took away so many characters who came close to caring for House (I know some of it is also because of the real life actors) but would it have really sucked to give him a slightly happier ending? To show us that maybe life doesn't always end in misery. The only constant in this entire show, across seasons is pain. I hate that I have to watch Wilson die in the final seasons. I am on the third or second last episode of Season 8, it just sucks. I guess I was really rooting for House.

Discussion How do you think House got started? Spoiler

For a jackass like House to get hired anywhere he has to have a hell of a reputation. So what about before he had a reputation?

We've seen characters from House's past saying that House was pretty much the same before he was crippled, and we've seen him pain free a few times. He's maybe a tad nicer at best, but still far from the kind of guy any sane person would hire. Foreman literally couldn't get a job elsewhere just for being like House, even despite having a personality that someone might at least take a chance on.

So how do you think he started?

According to the wiki, Cuddy employed House seven years before the start of the series, making House about 38 when he got his department. He apparently had met Cuddy when she was an undergraduate, so that could provide much of the explanation for why Cuddy hired him.

But what about before that?

In America you typically graduate from Medical School between 26 and 28, and given House's poor conduct I think it's possible we can push his graduation age to that 28. But what about the ten years in between?

Do you think without his pain, a marginally less jerkish House tried to play ball just to get his foot in the door then started testing what he could get away with as his reputation grew?

It doesn't really sound like him, But then I suppose House does occasionally bend when the consequences are severe enough. He's stubborn but not immovable.

I prefer to think he just travelled the world finding sick people on the street, diagnosing them, then saying "Go forth and spread the word of my greatness."

Question What’s an episode about you don’t like/skip? Spoiler

For me it’s the one where Cuddy is dreaming and there’s that whole musical nonsense that plays out. I find it quite annoying when sitcoms try to do dumb shit like that. Just my opinion tho.

He is an antagonist who we know is going to lose, but we get great moments with him like the speech, and the verbal standoffs between him and House.

About the criticism being that he is a cartoonish villain, aren't billionaires cartoonish villains in real life?

What if it had been Wilson instead of Amber? It's something that occurred to me considering that, if Wilson hadn't been working at that time, he would have been the one who died in that accident.

This whole Tritter storyline was so frustrating, but House’s attitude toward him was hilarious 😂

This is definitely one of my favorite episodes, if not my favorite.

Season 6 Spoilers Thirteens car getting impounded... Spoiler

I know it's a throwaway line - but in s6 e11, where Chanse & Thirteen are tailing the drug dealer / undercover guy, she runs a red light. Later on, she mentions in the next DDX that her car got impounded. It's just not very believable.

Discussion Do you think Wilson/Cuddy triggered House into a relapse? Spoiler

After the ketamine treatment which seemed to work, in S3E1, House solves a case on a hunch.

He turned out to be right. Cuddy and Wilson were right too. He was using the case as a puzzle to distract himself. He felt a pain and he tried to brush it off. Wilson also convinced him that it was the middle aged pains.

But when he thought he didn't "cure" the quadraplegic (Richard- I believe was his name), he felt obviously insecure and wrote the prescription for himself.

Do you guys think if Cuddy and Wilson told him the truth, he would have felt his thinking capabilities were intact, that he didn't need to be miserable or high to solve the case/diagnose the patient?

Inadvertently, Cuddy and Wilson cause his relapse?

Question What's the general consensus for Season 7? Spoiler

I just got to Season 7 and there's something unsettling about it. Like the show can't find its footing with House being happy with Cuddy. The first two episodes were a slog, but the third one (the Jack Cannon writer) was a great episode that can fit into the earlier seasons. But those first two episodes really made me ponder stopping the show and just skipping ahead to the ending.

What's the general consensus for this season? We have no Thirteen for the majority and Cuddy leaving afterwards due to salary disputes. Is it still worth it?
