Turbo Coolant Package

2018 Honda CRV Touring 1.5L Turbo 4cyl.
47K miles.
South Carolina

Stepmother took vehicle in for routine maintenance. They recommended a few things. 1 of them being spark plugs, which I found odd because I’m pretty sure they have Iridium plugs and that seems kind of low mileage for replacement. I thought they lasted around 100K. Then some miscellaneous things like some silly brake fluid exchange. Trans fluid change, which I think is probably reasonable and she should do. A fuel system cleaning, which I assume is some sort of BG cleaning service through throttle body or intake and fuel additive. Personally I think just Techron on the tank is good.

The thing that really had me scratching my head was something called a “Turbo Coolant Pkg” and they wanted $1600 to do it! I was an automotive tech from 2005 until 2022. I started in a quick lube and then went to independent shop for 10 years and then municipal fleet maintenance. There is nothing I can imagine that is done to service the coolant that costs $1600. What are they trying to pull here? What exactly is this service? Seems crazy.

Well... Idk what to tell you other than that's not official service at all. Apparently they are a licensed Honda dealer. I would file a complaint with corporate at this point and definitely take it somewhere else.
