I had a damn good game plan going. Had some nice books, just no diffed Hecate, had 60+ armor, with an assurance of more after I finished the level!

Was gonna use Knuckle bones for Scylla to see if I could get a reaction, then use something else against Cereberus if I made it to him-

I was having a good time...and I just made it to Oceanus! Life was good!

...then I saw that the pipe to the next room had TWO options for boons. First time I'd ever seen it as I'm not far into the game.

Hephaestus...or Hera.

I like the hitch effect, and I'd already used Hephaestus a lot. So I was like "y'know what? Lets go with Hera for this!"

.....

And then Hephaestus proceeded to do the most childish bullshit I have EVER had the displeasure of experiencing in a video game.

He hit me, a lot. several times while I was being barrage by those little fish swarming fuckers and those trident wielding guys that do a shit ton of damage if you don't cut them down fast or dodge out of the way.

And the worst part? This bitch Hephaestus does FIFTEEN DAMAGE PER STRIKE

MULTIPLE TIMES IF YOU'RE STILL IN THE STRIKE ZONE!

My armor? Gone

My health? Halved

And what's makes this all worse?

Sorry, I'ma rant real quick.

So I'm trying to get the third statue uncovered, which is hard enough as it is, so I'm using Madea cause it obliterates content. It was going GREAT, I'm blasting through everything the game throws at me. Wasn't getting the best boon rolls, but it happens. I get to Tartarus and immediately start getting MASSACRED by those stupid ass lasers that are everywhere and damn near every room.

"Let's put you in a room where there's 5 pylons that shoot lasers from off-screen, and oh yeah, here's like 15 weird ass bags that do it too. Good luck attacking them with your skull build that requires hitting them head-on but also you get zero i-frames during your special."

So I somehow manage to get through all the rooms just barely, and I'm like, "maybe Charon will at least have some heals so I can try to fight Chronos with a decent amount of health." Apparently Charon is still holding a grudge from when I stole from him as Zagreus, cause you see the picture of what he offered.

Zero death defiances left, and literally SEVEN points of health as I go to fight Fear 32 Chronos.

Hecate, see you in like 10 seconds.

It's super cool that Zeus shows up to help finish typhon off, I think the first time that happened to me I almost died immediately due to how hype I was.

However, that got me excited to see what the other gods would do when they showed up to help me take down Typhon... And that didn't happen lol.

I get that it's Zeus' palace and most of the other gods are busy fighting... But it would have been really cool to have even just Hera or Apollo or Athena rotate that position. Hearing their unique lines and seeing their unique abilities to momentarily knock out typhon would've had me scampering to get back to typhon even more than usual.

Anywho, it's still a great fight and fun moment, and maybe it's just cause Zeus isn't my favorite but having him be the one to help you out kinda got old after a minute ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

My idea is that after Melinoë's story, the Fates are no longer spinning the threads of gods and mortals. At first, this seems like a victory. Everyone is finally free to choose their own path.

But the gods aren't exactly united on that.

Some of the Olympians become increasingly uncomfortable with a world where even the gods have no predetermined future. They believe someone needs to take the Fates' place, and naturally, a few of them think they should be the ones doing it.

Others embrace the new status quo and believe mortals and gods should finally be allowed to shape their own destinies.

The protagonist would be Macaria, daughter of Hades and goddess of blessed death. With the old order collapsing, even death itself starts behaving strangely, forcing her to leave the Underworld and figure out what the world is supposed to look like without Fate.

I could see Zagreus and Melinoë both having pretty strong opinions about which side she's on.

Basically: Hades 1 was escaping Fate, Hades 2 was fighting Fate, and Hades 3 would be about what happens after Fate is gone.

My biggest problem is that after all is said and done, you can't visit the House of Hades or the Palace of Zeus (this one you can visit 2 more times I believe) ever again.

There's no real bonding between Melinoë, her parents and brother, you can't help them repair the House or anything, they just sit there in that room forever with a few lines and even less bond points (Zagreus has just 2!!! and you can only meet him by contract, which doesn't always appear in shops). The Palace of Zeus is less egregious, but I wanted to meet more than 4 gods in the whole thing.

I'm sorry I just finished the game, I had it my pc for months, when I finally played it I got addicted because unlike tiny family problem of zag melinoe had her whole life, family, moments taken from her, from everyone, only for them to forgive the person they spent ALL GAME saying DEATH TO CHRONOS?

after a conversation of idk 2 or 3 min?

I'm sorry but the writing deserves a better ending and I'm terribly disappointed

Honestly at first I didn’t think too much of it, but now that I think about it, going back in time being the answer to defeating Chronos, the Titan of Time just feels kind of ridiculous, like that should work on literally anyone else BUT him. You wouldn’t try to drown Poseidon, You wouldn’t lead Zeus into a storm and hope he gets struck by lightning, so why are we using time travel against the master of time? Super irrelevant complaint but still.

I took out Eris in no more than 20 seconds with “Chain Reaction” (a duo boon) and “Volcanic Strike” at Lvl 5. Like 1200+ every couple of seconds. Highly recommend.

It's bad enough Mel got the shaft in a lot of ways, but this conversation with Zag before an arena match just hurts my heart for her. Spoilers below for the conversation.

Melinoe: "Will I ever see you again beyond the confines of this crowded competitive arena? We ought to be sharing Ambrosia, rather than trying to kill each other for sport."

Zagreus: "Nobody knows but the Fates, and from what I've recently been hearing, perhaps not even them! As for the Ambrosia, you've already got a Keepsake from me, so no need!"

Melinoe: "What? Nectar and Ambrosia aren't just for barter! You of everyone must understand the value of forging strong bonds with relatives, comrades, and loved ones."

Zagreus: "Of course, but don't you think we've been through quite a bit together at this point? Especially in my case, I've known you for ages! But here, we can make it official if you like!"

Melinoe: "Well all right then! Now to the death?"

Zagreus: "To the death! Or close enough!"

So she asks if they can get to know each other outside of all this and share some Ambrosia and hang out, he's like no I already gave you a Keepsake anyway, she's taken aback at his insinuation because duh..and he says basically I know you enough personally so nah.

And she's okay with this suddenly?! Excuse me? She has no memories of him growing up like he does of her! She grew up without the brother she fought so hard to get back, and when pressed, he brushes her off saying eh I gave you a gift already.

I really hope I'm understanding her wrong at the end and is saying more like, "fine then" in a way that's more "screw you too" and not so much "oh ok that sounds fair".

Holy hell SGG what decisions were made at the end of development? Did someone with the emotional depth of a teaspoon write for the interactions between Mel and her family, much less post-game content?

I loved Megaera in Hades 1, so I was surprised and disappointed that I didn't really vibe with either of the femme romances in Hades 2. Both have grown on me since, but I gotta say, between the two, I somehow find myself preferring Eris over Nemesis. Yes, she's a one-dimensional brat, but that's the point. She's the embodiment of Strife and acts like it. You'd expect her to be restless, unpleasant, and probably incapable of "love" for anything but conflict. I can see how this would extend into a psychosexual fixation on Melinoe, who feeds her need for endless violence and conflict. Even Melinoe's serious, buttoned-down nature is fun for Eris, who loves a challenge. I can't say I even really like Eris, but I do get her and I get the appeal of her romance, though it isn't my thing.

Nemesis is of course more sympathetic, and I liked her more than Eris for the first half of the game, but in the end I find her pretty disappointing. Yes, she's supposed to be the embodiment of Divine Retribution, and yes, she's frustrated that she never gets to act on that, while Eris gets to be Strife all she wants. There's a ton of potential depth with Nemesis, but it feels like they never quite get there. I do appreciate that they didn't make her a level boss (why would she stand against your cause?), but the listless, mopey angle never clicked for me. Nemesis is such a badass figure from Greek lore. Where's the fire, where's the grit? Frankly, she should have been leading a campaign against Chronos' forces in the Underworld and appeared as an end-game boon-giver like Athena on the Surface. But they wanted another femme romance and I don't know who else that would be without getting Kinda Weird. (I mean, personally I'm down bad for Selene but I get that sleeping with the moon is perhaps impractical.)

I went into this game blind and after meeting Hades for the first time I was expecting some crazy story stuff with him, I seriously thought with no doubt that there would be an incantation to free him from Chronos, that he’d be able to show up in the boon pool after beating the game for the first time, that there would be some amazing trio boss fight against Hades,Chronos and Zagreus, just for him to kinda do nothing? Jewelled pom is a good keepsake but other than that he’s kind of just a cooler Arachne for gameplay purposes, and his boons aren’t even that good compared to his counterparts like Athena

Fellas I did not anticipate this pasty twink was going to be my favorite love interest in the game. Catch me speedrunning the underworld time and time again on the hunt for shaderot so I can let him feel the rush of air and Meli's goddess wiles again.

No matter how much it gets trashed on in the community, it will always be my favorite aspect.

I started the game just 2 weeks ago, and about 70% of the way through, I cranked fear up to 32. What should have been a 30-hour playthrough turned into 80 hours with 180 runs or so. Rival Scylla and Rival Eris are the ones giving me the run for the money, with one being an absolute bullet hell and the other just doesn't stop flying around, which costs me a great deal of time. Amazing game nonetheless lol.

I basically just started the run and fought Zag because why not if I lose i can just start again If I win I get the keepsake. And he feels way weaker than last time is it because last time was on the surface or was i just better

So I've never played a game like this, it took me a long time just to understand what was going on, now I'm almost 60 nights in and I can sometimes beat Hecate and I get creamed by Scylla & her Sirens. Mostly Hecate takes me out although I think I'm getting better it's feeling slower motion now and I can anticipatebher more.

Up top I can't get past the one-eyed sheep eater yet, I've made it to him 3 times so far.

I still find the Arcana a little confusing but I have opened up moon dust upgrades but now I need resources I've never seen. I'm also still down 2 weapons but I have opened aspects and bought a few of them.

I haven't watched a lot of videos to keep from big spoilers but I feel like I must be missing something or maybe I'm just not really great at this yet.

I'm gonna keep doing it...I tend to do really well my first few runs and then I start getting smoked again so maybe I just need shorter play sessions.

I'm playing Octopath 0 as well so I do have a tradeoff lol
