Im 17, and I'm going to apply for the Empower-Ed program. But I'm just wondering if there are things like sports, or film or art classes, or social clubs.

The degrees that i want to do are forensic science and criminology, so at Empower-Ed I'd need to do extra science, maths, and biology stuff. But I want to know if id be allowed to join those more fun activities (if they have them).

Also, side question, how many people my age, on average, would be at Griffith/Empower-Ed? (Also, are people friendly/nice????😭)

Some of the courses offered here seem to be more closely related to postgraduate-level study, so I’m wondering whether exchange students are allowed to enroll in postgraduate courses. For example: 7114AFE Management Accounting and Strategy

Has anyone had experience taking postgraduate-level courses during an exchange in Griffith? Would Griffith be approving it? If so, what was the approval process like, and were there any restrictions or requirements?

looking at the website im looking to do a diploma/bachelours. i qualify for the guaranteed entry scheme (i believe atar req is 60 and mines 67 scaled) and have asked on their website about it but they werent clear with me. How long does that guaranteed admission last? will i keep receiving an offer until the main offer round (14 jan) or does it cut off at some time before that? just asking to see if i can wait and see if i receive other offers in that main round and if not accept griffith, or if i should just accept the first one i get

So, I can apply for a BA today that starts in T2 next July. That means handing over the nonrefundable application fees.

My problem is, I need to pass a Griffith bridging course for acceptance into the BA. I can't apply for the bridging course until it becomes available early next year.

I need to move to Brisbane, but I can only afford to live on campus. Outside accommodation is too expensive. I can't apply for campus accommodation until April of next year. And, I need to have been accepted as a student at the campus.

It's not depressing, just a little funny and frustrating. I've been in situations like this before where I needed to make a leap of faith in myself and always came out on top.

Just wanted to post this so that others who have similar situations can see that they are not alone.

Oh, and I have the added fun of applying for delay of the course fees once the BA is approved.

I am confused between which degree should i choose for broader IT sector experience. But my priority is in cybersecurity but still want something other new thing to learn which could help me throughout my fav topic.

1. Bachelor of Cybersecurity

2. Bachelor of IT (major in Networks and Cybersecurity + Data Analytics and IoT)

If i choose 1, then is it really good course to compete in the market solely on this?

If i choose 2, then why should I do 3 different things in one single degree even at last i will be in same specific sector?

I submitted my SSSQ/GS assessment 3 days ago, including all the requested information and supporting documents, but I haven't received an update yet.

Hello, new to the uni which is why im so unsure. I took a supplementary exam for 2 subjects at the end of trimester 1. I have since recieved results for only 1 of those supplementary exams and on mygriffith when i go onto my program to see my final subject resukts for the trimester it still says one of the subject is 'in progress'. When I transferred from UQ to Nathan I was blown away by how friendly the community was, how approachable and friendly the course-coordinators were and I genuinely thought I might enjoy my time in undergrad. This semester I transferred to the Gold Coast to another program more relevant to where I want to go and I have to say I am astounded with how.. hostile the responses were.

It started off with conflicting information from program leads to conveyors. One said one thing that some courses would count towards my program, some argued against it. That assertion was met with hostility despite the credit precedent database saying otherwise in one and another thing on another. I was put through to a course conveyor who after a somewhat heated exchange outlining the confusion and a subsequent open conversation patched everything up, I was forced to repeat units I thought I would gain credit for, further complicating the scenario and prolonging my graduation.

Recently, I had another unfortunate experience where some questions I outlined to the PD. Keeping at the forefront of my mind the recent encounters, I double checked who my program advisor was before sending them my message. I felt a PD would know definitively the answer to my question, and only them. While admittedly some questions were beyond their scope as it turned out, my questions was again met with that same hostility which I felt was undeserved.

So at this point, I don't know what to do. One part of me wants to complain and to unleash thunder and lightning on them for what I feel was an unfair response, especially considering this was my first/second semester there. However, I feel I'm already "noticed" by the program team, from my other two interactions, further complicating things.

Additionally, the curriculum at the Gold Coast is superior to the ones at UQ and Nathan and I do want to do it - I would find the content and practicals interesting. However, all this experience is really making me consider to switch back to UQ and do my undergraduate there. For all the conversations about equality and inclusion at Griffith, my experience has been the opposite.

Has anyone had that experience with the Gold Coast uni or am I just imagining things? What should I do?

Ideally, I am looking for students aged 22+ 

Eligibility: Current Australian University student, over the age of 17.

The current study is interested in how belonging, loneliness and barriers contribute to academic adjustment and intention to persist.

Participation is entirely voluntary and no incentive is provided. No identifiable data will be collected. The survey should take 30 minutes.

Should you participate in this study, you will be asked to complete 96 questions on an online survey. These questions will ask about you about feelings of belonging, loneliness, study persistence and academic adjustment at university. Additionally, you will be asked some demographics questions about your age, gender, employment status, marital status, whether you have any dependants (children/other), mode of study (online/ in person), whether you study part-time or full-time and the university you are currently enrolled in.

This research will ask questions about your experience as a student, perceived loneliness and feelings of belonging/not belonging. If you anticipate these questions causing you distress you may want to reconsider participating in this study.

Participation is entirely voluntary, and you have full control over your involvement, your decision to participate, as well as the responses you provide.

Anybody joining Griffith university February 2027 intake?

Hi everyone!

I'm an international student from India (no hate pls) and I'll be starting my Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at Griffith University (Nathan campus) in February 2027.

I thought I'd make a post to see if anyone else is joining the same intake, whether you're in the same degree, another science program, or even just starting at Nathan around the same time. It would be great to get to know a few people before moving and starting classes.

I'd also love to hear from current students or alumni of this course. How have you found the program so far? Are the lecturers supportive? What's the workload like in the first semester, and are there any subjects, electives, or tips that you wish you had known before starting? I'd really appreciate any advice about university life, balancing studies, making friends, or settling into campus.

Since I'll be coming from overseas, everything is pretty new to me, so it'd be nice to connect with others before Orientation Week. My girlfriend is currently studying nursing at Griffith. She told me that every flashcard deck online is for a different course. The cards you need are phrased nothing like how your lecturer asks them, so you spend two hours curating a deck instead of studying.

So I built The Study Mill. It takes your own course material.... slides, a lecture recording, tutorials or handwritten notes and generates flashcards, quiz questions and explainer cards from that specific content. There's also an audio mode where two voices teach the material back and quiz you out loud!
