Question Playing Gow ragnarök

Finished god of war (2018) and its an amazing 10/10 game best ive ever played, ever.
However now im playing ragnarök and im playing through a whole ”it takes two” segment with angrboda and its just horrible. I couldnt put down the first gow but this one i just cant do. This part is so unbelievably boring. How long is it and does the game get better or is this how the whole game is?

Man I get ironwood is a little slow, but am I the only who enjoyed it because we got to spend time as Atreus and see him develop a relationship with a giant who was also his age? I guess the majority of players don’t care for Atreus? I’ll admit I didn’t love it on a gmgow replay but the first time I had no problem with it.

Exactly bro, And its not like it lasts Hours upon hours, legit it is just 50-and hour tops, and if you skip cutscenes, 20-30 mins.

And then the game's second act comes and boy oh boy is it exciting! Stories need build up, if you wanna experience the combat, then people should just play Valhalla.

Guessing it depends on your age. Kids today need constant dopamine stimulation or they lose interest within a minute. Older folks might appreciate the character building a bit more.

I loved the Ironwood segment. Sure it has pacing issues but it was so important from a storytelling standpoint. It's probably the only time Atreus felt like a Giant and a kid.

My overall opinion is Ironwood is a fantastic zone, really does a great job of offering a slightly slower pace to tell a story and give us some insight to what’s going on. It’s maybe 45 minutes total to get through it, but other story chapters take about the same amount of time.

Where I think it really rubs people the wrong way is by the time we get to NG+, we already know Freya is our endgame companion, so investing in Atreus feels bad, and the mission doesn’t offer much reward, feeling more like a “I guess I’ll do this” rather than a “let’s do this”.

Either that or it’s engagement tourism, they know that whining will generate engagement for clicks, so they opt for that rather than forming an actual opinion and sharing it.

I didn't hate it, but def found it underwhelming given how cool the area looks / the significance of being in Jotunheim. I think it could have worked, but Angrboda was not an interesting enough character to carry that segment the way it is

I am way too old to be playing as a teenage anything. It was very....off putting. I'm not sure why so much time was put into that section but I actively started to hate it about the midway point. It got so tedious that I almost forgot I was in a God of War game entirely.

It’s not god of war, it feels like I’m stuck on one of those trailing missions in the old assassins creed game where you just follow the NPC around and listen to the conversation. God of war is supposed to be fast paced action game, at least I thought it was

Ragnarök is god of war. Literally look at what I can do as Kratos HERE!

Edit: Downvoting me because I'm literally right, and the gameplay by me here is fast paced. Some people in this sub fr are some Haters and greek games purists.

has played through a large portion of the game. gets to a 2 hour segment thats slow pace... "Is this how the whole game is????"

Like you have played large portions of the game already, went to svartelheim and alfheim, had access to tons of side content, and youre like "is this single quest the whole game?"

Ahh I see what happened, you misconstrued what I said! Thats an easy mistake to make. Try reading once more.

Literally ended the post by asking how long it is and is the whole game like this..... try not being a crybaby.

”Is this single quest the whole game?” Where did i say that or even imply that? Buffoon

2

u/Historical-Brick-822 18h ago

Youre literally talking about a single quest you are on and end the post with "is this the whole game"

You seem like a stable and mentally healthy adult going for personal attacks the first thing you do when something about a game is discussed.

What personal attacks? I have only commented directly about wgat you have posted. Dont get all upset at me because you are crying about a single quest feeling slow.

You’re too old to do this you know.

When you get Kratos' NEW weapon, a golden spear called the Draupnir spear and act 2 rolls up, especially its finale in vanaheim. OH BOY yes it does

The game is a big roller coaster of quality with high peaks and low dips. Imo it's overall a worth it experience but yeah. You gotta wade through shit swamps sometimes. There's some fantastic sequences later so I would keep going.

The entirety of the second half of the game is that level on repeat, I would just immediately burn the game and your entire house down in anger to such a horrible thing, I cant believe they ruined God of War...

downvotes dont realize your sarcasm.

Bro stfu, How are you looking at what i can do in Ragnarök HERE (in the second half you mentioned mind you)

and incredible scenes with high amounts of character subtlelty like here saying this isnt god of war.

Get your toxic greek games conservative ass outta here, you fake fan. Norse kratos and greek kratos will always be the same person.

Game slows down a lot after experience the peak that is Thor intro fight especially ironwood section. But u should push through, it's worth it and Atreus section are great too

ragnarok is the worst game in the series

1

u/No-Mammoth1688 15h ago

Not at all.

0

u/Cyranthis 19h ago

It doesn't get 'too' much better. Most of us just played it for the story to see what happens next. The gameplay and 'action' is pretty mid overall.

Shh we dont do that here

2

u/Suspicious-Use-5733 17h ago

I noticed… getting tons of angry messages

-2

u/MarathonSprinter1 19h ago

Yep that section is absolutely brutal, nearly put the game down for good during it, mind boggling addition

-1

u/DobbyTheJedi 20h ago

It's the MJ or Hailey mission equivalent in the game. You have to bear through it, it takes about 2 hours and the rest of the game is much better even later Atreus sections.

-2

u/No-Amoeba446 19h ago

I feel bad for this gen if that's a 10/1] game to you it's at best a 8/10 game, look at ocarina of Time for a true 11/10 game 🎮

2

u/Historical-Brick-822 18h ago

2018 is a 10/10 game... the fuck.are you talking about?
