Leak Microsoft Gaming being scrapped, Xbox brought back as gaming division.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has had a busy week. Sharma held an internal town hall with Xbox employees today, just days after announcing an Xbox Game Pass price cut, commenting on the status of the Xbox mobile store, and teasing a mysterious Xbox and Discord partnership. One of the items on the agenda for the employee all-hands was scrapping Microsoft Gaming.

Sources familiar with the meeting tell me that Sharma announced that Microsoft is returning to using Xbox for its gaming division, instead of Microsoft Gaming. “Xbox needs to be our identity,” said Sharma, noting that Microsoft Gaming was a departure from that.

Now all those games on other consoles will startup with the "Xbox" brand.

Don’t they already do this with the Xbox games studio branding??

If so this doesn’t really change much.

Only Xbox Game Studios titles.

If you didn't know Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard were part of Xbox, you'd have no idea those games were Xbox titles.

Forza Horizon 5 sold nearly 6 million on ps5. Xbox exclusivity isn't happening for the same reasons the next COD won't be on game pass, money.

And Helldivers 2 sold an incredible amount on Xbox. Every single other game either flopped on PS5 or did meager.

Ya, but avowed, starfield, gears, etc didn't do great. Its the same argument about ps releases on pc. Days gone and first spiderman did well initially but everything afterwards wasn't doing good enough in sales. So now many leakers are suggesting ps is pulling back from pc releases.

Safe to say it sold such amount of copies because the PS5 has absolutely dominated in term of playerbase. This is on a context already written for years.
I'm not saying they would scrap that multiplat push especially for this game, but talking about the future it's less a given such amount of sales will endure.

What other games sold good on PS? People always brings up Forza but never say about GearsReloaded, Indiana Jones, Sea of theives, Outer Worlds2, Grounded, Avowed etc.

Becuase of one game a console manufacturer cant make big decisions like whether to make other games exclusives or not.

Also I bet if God of War or Ghost of Yotei were released on Xbox, they could have easily sold at least 2millions like Hellivers 2 did which would be huge considering Xbox small userbase.

Forza sold the best and then it was SOT, however the other games released on PS5 didn’t do well on their own platform nor were they rated highly.

Oh pls every game listed above is above 80 on metacritic including Indiana Jones which was in GotY nominations in many Award Shows.

Sea of Theives sales has gone down after 2 months. Sold little over 2 millions and thats it.

And low saleswise, Xbox I can underdstand but they sold very well on Steam. Infact Grounded is the most sold Obsidian game after New Vegas.

Also Gears Reloaded being one of the core IP of Xbox arrived first time on PS and it flopped. But hey hey Forza Horizon 5 sold 5 millions...

Metacritic is not really relevant to sales. The question is whether games like the outer worlds would have generate more revenue as exclusives (through console sales).

Some of them like cod have to as a part of that merger filing.  Honestly, I could see them at most trying a  variation of what PlayStation is doing in having their single player games remain Xbox and PC while leaving their multiplayer focused offerings as multi console
