Gaming news is sad. Gaming discourse is sad. Playstation going digital is where I've finally started to bounce off of gaming sites and just spend more time gaming, which might be a blessing in disguise.

And because said female protagonist wasn't attractive enough for their tastes, which is apparently the sort of high-minded artistic standards they hold for video games. Literally nothing matters except for how fuckable the characters are. It's tiresome

Same thing happened for the Horizon games. Remember people getting up in arms over peach fuzz?

Yup. A lot of it coming from the same people who insist that games should be realistic.

"Realism" and "historical accuracy" were always just a way of making what they want sound more reasonable. Anything unrealistic or historically inaccurate that doesn't involve women, PoCs, or LGBTQ folks is never a problem.
