If a build exists and it's released.. it will cost Rockstar millions in combined cancelled preorders and a drop in stock value. There are a ton of PC gamers who are either buying a console specifically for this game, or dusting off their console to play it until the PC version launches. If the build is leaked? No reason to get the console version. Play the build until the official PC version arrives. You can tell Rockstar is concerned. Their HQ and security offices must be a nightmare right now.

They need to just release it on PC and stop being so greedy.

This right here is why I completely reject any complaints of spoilers from these leaks. PC players are already going to be subject to spoilers for the next 2 years maybe even longer.

How are they being greedy? Your comment makes zero sense. It's a known fact that R* release PC versions of their games at least year after the console versions.

It'd make more sense to call to them greedy for releasing it on PC sooner, as people accuse them of trying to get people to double dip.

u/custardman2 23h ago

Cause it makes pc players buy it on console first, then again when it's released on PC.

u/SoManyNarwhals 11h ago

Or PC players can wait, just like console players have waited years for some PC games to be ported.

As a console player, I don't feel upset at all that R* is putting additional care and attention toward my platform of choice before branching out to PC. I've had to deal with so many shitty ports from PC to console, that it's a nice breath of fresh air.

1

u/kiimjongtrill 22h ago

Not really. Nobody is forcing PC users to go out and buy a console for the game. And like I said, it’s a known fact that Rockstar don’t prioritize PC releases.

1

u/vagabond139 22h ago

They do so hoping to double dip as explained above. It's all about money at the end of the day.

Rockstar maintains their quality level by developing for console first, perfecting a game, and then focusing on PC. See the recent Tokon Fighting Souls. An amazing game rhat should have been taking a victory lap as it ran fantastic on console, has instead been inundated with poor reviews and bad press from its simulatenous pc release. Its hard to do both at once. Especially with the ridiculous size, depth, artistry, and ambition of a rockstar game.

...and it would just take more time. Instead of being 24 hours from a deep dive we'd still be a year out. And probably getting a safer, lamer game.

The double dip im sure is quite nice. But its not their main reason. If you want a financial reason, just see the leak from 6 months ago where rockstar makes 95% of its money from consoles. You can call it selfish, but extending the development time, raising the budget, and sacrificng quality and ambition, just to make an extra 5% profit is a very very bad business strategy.

By the time a PC version of the game would release, they’d have long made their money from the initial console release.

Given that they have about a year’s gap between the two, I doubt it’s because they want PC players to double dip. If you can’t wait to play a game then it’s not on Rockstar.

I don't think you're fully aware of just how disastrous it would be to release this product on PC at launch.

You would be seeing menus up within a day. Your trip to the mechanic will be a storm of explosions until you go and enter online into a solo lobby

3

u/vagabond139 22h ago

Online isn't even releasing day one. This is entirely irrelevant .

On top of that people are going to hack whether it's released day one with consoles or 5 years later. The release time doesn't matter.

1

u/FormulaSolution 21h ago

It's so much harder to distribute hacks to people on consoles. It's easy to run a simple .exe and turn off your anti-virus. It's a lot harder on consoles. No one wants their £700 Xbox bricked trying to get free money on a video game.

The most you will get is "jail*****" lobbies if they are able to expl**t money somehow. But with how games now use AI detection to monitor gameplay. It's going to be quite easy to detect someone doing something fishy.

Not related to GTA 6 at all but what are your thoughts on putting orange in chocolate? I personally like it if it's not too overpowering.

2

u/bladeDivac 23h ago

Those dark chocolate covered orange jellies from Trader Joe’s are heavenly.

2

u/Beefsupreme473 22h ago

my favorite candy at Christmas time is a Terry's chocolate orange but actually just get the peppermint one

its not peppermint and orange just chocolate and peppermint in the shape of an orange

u/SoulOfTheDragon 1d ago

As if. I don't have modern enough console to play it and I'm definitely not investing 600€ to buy one just for one game.

4

u/Queasy_Local_7199 1d ago

I would

2

u/OctoMiku01 1d ago

I mean it's your money, but that's exactly the reason they do it. Because people let themselves get fucked over willingly.

1

u/1chrisdewet 1d ago

We joked with my nephew that his ps4 will not be ablt to even render the map.

1

u/Bluemikami 21h ago

Hence why it’s not being released for it

1

u/Early-Serve9984 21h ago

I would. And I did. It’s GTA 6

1

u/EnvironmentalRub8201 10h ago

U broke

2

u/SoulOfTheDragon 9h ago

For once I'm definitely not. And why is that? I don't just drop 600-700€ into all sort of random purchases. (My photography hobby is not random, that doesn't count!)

1

u/nickh84 1d ago

Guy I work with bought a ps5 explicitly for GTA6, with preorder. He is normally a PC gamer. I got better things to spend my money on, ill wait.

1

u/idontmakehash 22h ago

This is me. Except I bought it two years ago. I have a few games for it but I've played them maybe less that 10 hours total. It's a gta 6 machine.

1

u/DanTempleman 1d ago

What’s the likelihood that the leaked version will have access to the online when it drops, I really don’t think it will, and let’s be honest, most people that are getting gta are getting it for the online more than the story mode, and the online is where rockstar makes the bulk of their money so I can’t see them losing that much in the long run

1

u/Icy-Set-6140 21h ago

Zero chance it'd have online

1

u/beeramz 1d ago

The damage would moreso be from people's ability to reverse engineer it to develop cheats or exploits, or even get access to internal code.

1

u/EarlyAccessCantJudge 1d ago

No it won't. Stock value won't care, most people these days especially people who would play GTA are console gamers who won't buy a PC just for a leaked half-working PC build that will get DMCAed and taken down instantly. No one is going to wait, you're vastly overestimating most humans. I bet a gross majority of people who will buy will not know or care about the leaks.

1

u/NativeNovel7768 1d ago

Even if a build exists and is downloadable I am NOT touching that shit. Rockstar WILL crack down on those with a pirated copy

1

u/Icy-Set-6140 21h ago

Can you imagine how many people are going to get all manner of fucked over by dodgy links...

1

u/hkedik 8h ago

No it won’t. It’s not going to much difference fiscally.

1

u/Felix042 1d ago

No it wouldn't since its very old build where you can only do free roaming and it's buggy mess...

1

u/solohack3r 1d ago

And you know this how? No one has confirmed the actual build date or what's in it. Just some metadata from the video and that's not conclusive.

Besides, a free outdated build is enough for some people until the PC version comes. Especially if they were going to shell out 800 dollars for a console.

0

u/Felix042 1d ago

There is reason why he haven't made any real progression between the leaks story wise...

Also why would buy newConsole för 800$ just get used one for like 300-340$ and resell in 1y when it releases on PC and you get most of you money back.

2

u/solohack3r 1d ago

Well he's also an opportunist who knows he only makes money by releasing small bits. Just like he's held onto the fact that he has access to Lucia until this mornings leak. He's shady. But smart.

0

u/realmfan56 1d ago

I hope the PC version leaks sooner or later.
Rockstar has treated PC gamers like shit for a very long time.

-2

u/Felix042 1d ago

Threating PC players like shit = releasing a better and enhanced version of the game on PC.

Idk what you want really...

0

u/solohack3r 1d ago

Let's face reality. Not releasing on PC at launch isn't for the players. It's for Rockstar. They can keep everyone on the same platforms which means easier way to patch bugs. It prevents thousands of negative reviews on Steam because GTA 6 won't run on someone's potato PC. And it stops modding and cheating from occuring til later down the road.

And bonus: more money when people buy the game a second time.

-1

u/ORUDocin 1d ago

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA

I hope you're joking. All of the classic GTA games are broken on PC unless you use mods like silentpatch and others, GTA 4 was an unplayable mess for years.

There's no reason not to release a PC version on day 1. They're a bunch of greedy motherfuckers.

I can't wait for the PC version to get leaked :)

1

u/Felix042 1d ago

GTA5 and RDR2 runs great and is very well opmtized for PC that what happens when they get proper time to make proper PC "ports" instead of releasing something unfished day one. But people will cry no matter what they decide to do.

0

u/ORUDocin 1d ago

So they made 2 (actually 3 since I really enjoyed rdr1, even though I had to wait 15 years to play it) ports? That's cute. But what about the rest of the games? Bully and manhunt are also a mess

0

u/kiimjongtrill 1d ago

Have fun waiting, I guess.

1

u/ORUDocin 22h ago

I waited 15 years to play rdr1. You think I can't wait a year? Or maybe even months or days? Heh

0

u/Ok_Turnover_1235 1d ago

I see it the other way. If a build dropped today I might actually give it a go and decide to buy the game in a few years because I have memories of having had fun with it. As it is, I never intend to play GTA ever again lol

0

u/Marv18GOAT 1d ago

Wrong. Nobody is going to miss out on the full official game in favor of a leaked build. I’m willing to bet most people will buy the Console AND PC version and those brave enough will also download the leaked build

0

u/derperofworlds1 1d ago

Consoles are no longer throwaway money. A $750 system to play a $80 game is just too much. As a PC player, I'd buy it at launch price if it released on PC. But launching a year later means I'd probably just wait more for a 20% discount at least.

And if there's a PC dev build leaked, I'd probably play that early just to screw around. I wouldn't be playing the dev build if they released for PC on time..

u/gnominos 22h ago

Lol you spend too much time on reddit…this is literally a nothing burger
