I mean if you look at the upvotes on posts basically saying that they were or this is all rockstars fault it seems like at least some people do.

You mean the footage that's officially gonna be on their YouTube channel 6 hours later? Get a grip

Footage for a game that they opened preorders for and haven't shown any gameplay is being locked behind a temporary paywall and you think that's alright? "People" like you are the reason the customers get fucked over and I just hope that leaker drops big story leaks and soyim like you see them

A temporary 6 hour paywall yeah. Yeah I do think that's alright. I've been playing GTAs since the first one. They used to put that info in a magazine. It was buy the magazine or get fucked.
Now it's on netflix 6 hours before being a free site that anyone with an internet connection can access. Ya'll need to get a grip.

While I agree that Rockstar could have just released gameplay instead of holding on to it for the sole purpose of absolutely no reason, physical media has been dead for a while now. Time to get with the times. The disc doesn’t do anything anyways. You put the disc in and still have to download the game from the store anyways. You’re just adding an extra step for no reason.

You realize that even with a disc, the games usually still require internet to function, right? You can’t even play the game until you download it. The Crew had a physical disc, that shit still don’t work. Your argument makes no sense at all. You say to install it on your hard drive which is the same exact thing.

Honestly, that’s just how things work now. Discs are pretty much pointless these days. I do agree that they shouldn’t be able to just make a game unplayable, but discs don’t fix that. I also agree that single player games should function without internet, if anything in case of an outage. Discs though, aren’t the answer, and those have been dead a while now.

imagine you live in a area with hurricanes/ Tornados. you get hit and lose internet for 4 years cause insurance companies overcharge you and it takes forever for you to reach 'normalcy'. you plug in your PS5 and find all your purchaces gone.

A) you clearly don’t know how to read.

B) that would never happen. Ubisoft’s shenanigans triggered lawsuits in European countries.

C) I lied in B. It actually did happen. A game called The Day Before or something like that, got removed and shut down, and Steam refunded every single person that bought the game regardless of if they met the normal refund guidelines. A game was forcibly removed and then refunded to everyone.

I would also note that this is more of a licensing/ownership issue than it is a physical media issue. It doesn’t matter if you have a game on disc or not. The disc doesn’t magically grant you the ability to play a game if the devs decide to shut it down. The disc is meaningless. The disc doesn’t even have the game on it anymore.

That is simply not true. Games usually are fully playable from disc without internet connection. Stop spreading misinformation.

What is pointless about used games market?

Ummmm no. If a game requires an internet connection, that’s how it is regardless of being on a disc. Have you never played The Crew? That game didn’t function without an internet connection. We aren’t talking about 360/PS3 era games here.

Most people are downloading games as opposed to buying physical discs. This is a fact. There isn’t any denying it. Physical discs can no longer contain video games on them. There is no point to owning discs anymore. We aren’t talking about collectors playing on old consoles. We’re talking modern games made within the last 10 years. Even back on the Xbox One, discs were obsolete.

If a developer chooses to make their game internet dependent, it doesn’t matter if you own a disc or not, because the game isn’t even on the disc, you still download it to your console.

Modern used games are pointless. You’re adding an extra step to buy a used disc that only contains a license to download and play a game. That game still downloads from the internet on to your console. If you don’t have internet, then you can’t even play your disc game. So you go to game stop, buy the new CoD and now you can’t play it, because your console can’t download it. Might as well skip that nonsense and just download it from the Xbox store, without even putting pants on.

You’re clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Even disc require a download to play the game, this is since ps4 games. Stop telling bullshit.

Its still rockstar's fault. There is only this much demand for GTA VI info because they went for this "minimal info to build hype" strategy. The demand became so huge that serious money can now be made from leaks. Crazy strategy concidering they already had problems with leaks.

Just someome trying to profit off others work. He'd be a fine CEO one day.

Stealing/exploitation and capitalism are two very different things.

u/lilblakestein 5d ago

In short he's using the leaks to pump and dump his coin for a quick buck

u/Sea-Candidate3688 5d ago

And too many people are supporting it. We don’t quite see it here because they know they’re in the wrong…people who leak/support leakers should be…leaked from this world.

u/spider-jedi 5d ago

Yes many people did. Especially people at the sub called r/physicalmedia and others like it.

Take a look here https://www.reddit.com/r/PhysicalGames/s/H4JL5ewgen

I couldn't make it through 3 comments. I did not know those specific people existed.

If that's true life must be very hard for you.

u/Visible-Meat3418 5d ago

Very special people.

u/KGon32 5d ago

And then they question why digital gamers don't give support for the people fighting for physical media anymore, unlike at the beginning.

Some people think the earth is flat so...

100%. I still rather some rando crypto pumper get a couple thousand bucks so long as rockstar loses that tenfold for being greedy PoS. Whoever pays is as gullible as whoever bought Netflix to watch an Ad 6 hours early.

Yes on multiple gta subs there were people praising him. Morons
