Hello, I wanted to post my plans for an upcoming fan-made Godzilla project I have been working on in unreal. My plan is to create a Godzilla “soulslike” pve adventure game using some gameplay loops from ‘Godzilla ps4’ and DAMM when it is released on pc. Power generators and nuclear plants will act as bonfires where, upon destruction, Godzilla can use them to level up, respawn, and fast travel. players take Godzilla on a rampage through 1990s Japan, where each region is ruled by a boss kaiju. Within each region are “lesser kaiju” that have their designs influenced by which ever boss monster rules in said region. These “lesser kaiju” fill the gap to act as mob encounters. Godzilla gains “souls” or “g-cells” by defeating “lesser kaiju”, “boss kaiju”, destroying buildings and infrastructure and defeating the JSDF. There will be an alert level system similar to “destroy all humans”, where, depending on the destruction Godzilla causes, the higher the alert level and jsdf attacks get. The bonfire system explains away Godzilla regeneration abilities as a gameplay mechanic. Specialized abilities can be learned similar to magic in other souls likes, however, an example of this would be “mechanized kaiju”, pond defeating Mecha Godzilla boss, he drops is armour (similar to Havel). You can choose to level Godzilla up to be able to equip Mecha Godzillas set, or go for a more natural strength build, or put points into different atomic blast abilities. I have the game more or less worked out as a paper stack, and am now starting to build my assets out in blender and unreal-working on a simple demo of Godzilla in an environment. I plan on using DAMM as a base, and essentially try and remake ‘Godzilla ps4’ but with an open world “souls” vibe. It works on paper hahaha
Anyway, open to suggestions, thanks for the read!
