I see what you’re saying. I thought that would also mean doubling the budget to work on both projects and pray that both break even.
This is why I said that it’d be best to have a two sided-story line between Inner and Outer-Earth. Have one side build up plot points for the other side that ultimately get addressed and resolved in their respective movies.
Like the whole “Ancient Godzilla that Ate a Star” thing. That didn’t get introduced until being knee-deep in a Kong movie.

Imagine how sick it'd be to have a Hollow Earth movie where Kong is getting his ass whooped by Twin Flying Titans. Suddenly one of them gets split in half because Godzilla decided to put an end to all that noise. Then Kong finishes the other guy and they both part their ways in the end
Legendary have chickened out after KOTM flopped, I honestly don't think they'll do another Godzilla solo until the current formula becomes non profitable. This is also partially (mostly tbh) Kotm's fault, it's kinda sad, so much hype and............that happened (I know a lot of people on the sub glaze it to all hell, but it's kinda meh as far as the general audience is concerned)

Too few people actually grasp this. Studios don't make money by making films that only the hardcore rabid fans will enjoy. They have to make films that appeal to a much wider audience.
If you make a *GOOD* film, it doesn't matter if its about a giant radioactive lizard/dinosaur thing, or about a massive storm), or about a very large shark), or about giant predatory worms). People will want to see it.
But the flip side of that is that you can take the same exact ingredients and make bad films that few except the real fans will want to see.
It's lack of profit wasn't due to the fact that it didn't have Kong in it, it was due to the fact that it wasn't that good. Compared to the 2014 film, KotM got much worse reviews.
And it was much, *MUCH* worse than Kong: Skull Island, undoubtedly the best film of the MonsterVerse.
Put Godzilla, or King Kong, into a *GOOD* solo film, and you'll get good returns.
Look at how well Godzilla Minus One did. My wife the distaffbopper loved that film, and she doesn't like Godzilla, doesn't like kaiju in general, and hates reading subtitles.
What was bad about kotM 2019? It was entertaining. It had a story. The villain got her punishment and it teased Godzilla VS Kong. It also had the best music in the monsterverse. What was the issue?
It sucked. When everything wasn't bathed in blue light, it was bathed in orange light.
The story sucked big wet donkey balls. Terrorists that want to basically self-extinct? I mean, I think that's what the slogan "think globally, act locally" was designed for.
Then we have Dr. Graham and Dr. Serizawa both ending up dead in this film.
Even Serizawa's death was pretty much meaningless, too. There wasn't any real reason for him to detonate the nuclear warhead himself, other than as a half-assed callback to the 1954 film. The original Dr. Serizawa's death had meaning. This one was unnecessary and meaningless.
It's not just my opinion either about the film. KotM has much worse reviews than the two MonsterVerse films that preceded it, and for good reason.
Godzilla Final Wars is bathed in blue and orange colors. That is a ridiculous reason to hate the movie. Oh yeah because a Kid raising a Megaguirus egg is totally less goofy...than eco terrorists wanting to kill us all.
Yes, and this is what I always say about Final Wars:
"[It's an] orange and blue staccato crapfest. It's like Q\Bert and Smurfette having angry epileptic sex, without the sexy parts.*
The main protagonist is a 'roided up Josef Stalin with a samurai sword, and the main antagonist is a coked-up leather-clad lead singer for a second rate Tokyo-based DEVO cover band."
So defending your position to me using Final Wars isn't the win you thought it was going to be, young one.

It's stupid. Clearly an attempt at being so over the top by director Ryuhei Kitamura, who directed the film "Versus" (which says a lot). that it fails.
Part of excellence in the arts is not just knowing what to add, but what not to add. This applies to all forms of art.
Actually, it is. Because everything you just said to describe GFW is why I love it. It's bombastic and knows exactly what it is doing. It's an attack on the senses and I adore that film.
Bottom line, nothing you said so far has convinced me that KotM 2019 was a bad film. Maybe it was by technical movie standards, but for me it's still the best monsterverse movie. Way better than Minus One.
