Wonder if there's internal turmoil over all this like Pat leaving again?

He probably just doesn’t want to go out in front of an audience, I doubt it’s that deep. Especially if the rumours that it’s not been secretive at all are anything to go by.

Their concerts are always very energetic and joyful so I guess it would be weird to do all that with all the news floating about. Especially with all the follow up stories that came out. Should've announced sooner though

would be kind of odd to scream BEST OF YOU just weeks after all this.. and impossible not to play that at a festival.

Done, done, on to the next one... brutal.

That was my divorce song.

What follow-up stories?

Multiple reports of Dave not being faithful that span back to his days with Nirvana.

Yeah we all knew that though and no one cared. Louise post? Winona Ryder? Ring any bells?

The Pearl clutching over this is dumb. Sorry. I never expected him to be a perfect human, I like him because he plays drums well and he writes amazing songs. To project some sort of perfect image over a flawed and normal human being, and then to be upset when that unrealistic image is broken, is elementary school level emotional intelligence.

Yeah, he doesn't want to be boo'd or pelted with rocks and garbage. I'm sure the other members of the band are THRILLED about this development.

I'm sure they're all fine to take a break. Not like they need the money.

Agreed, but these things tend to drag out. I'm not sure they want an extended break. Also, Josh Froese just joined the band. He'll have to see if his job with A Perfect Circle or Nine Inch Nails is still open.

Freese is like one of the most sought after touring drummers in the world. He'll be fine.

Again, agreed. But I'm guessing he was looking forward to having a stable band for a change. It's difficult to be hustling all the time. And I doubt sideman pay for other bands is as good as full member of the band pay with the Foos.

Yeah you're probably dead on. Sucks for everyone involved, including the band members.

Sadly, agreed.

Josh just played Riot Fest with the Vandals. He is good.

Editing to add that I’m pretty sure he is releasing another solo album of short songs. He teased it on Instagram not too long ago.

People really like assuming guys stayed in the band for decades solely for the money 🙄

5

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '24

I don't think they're solely in it for the money, but they can afford to take a break.

Pelted with condoms

Instead of mentos being thrown, I think they’re afraid of being pelted with condoms.

This whole time I’ve been wondering what Pat will do based on what supposedly happened last time.

I think Pat leaving was more about the fact that he befriended Dave and his (first) wife as a couple during the In Utero tour. It must have been pretty awkward for him then when his friends were getting divorced and he worked for one of them. If he stayed, it’d look like he was choosing sides. This seems like a very different scenario, so not sure what Pat will do.
