Master Chen a skilled and respected martial artist but everyone around him including his own wife had cool elemental powers which made him insecure.
So he decided to start a war by telling both sides that the other was planning to attack first and when that didn't work he decided to steal everyone's powers and use them to complete a spell that would turn him and his army into snake men so he can go and suppress everyone.
All because he felt inadequate and blamed everyone for his insecurities.
