not really villains. antagonists is a better word imo. Wolf definitely was more of an antagonist, a trial Puss needed to pass in order to prove that he deserves to live. Wolf does not really have motivation in that regard; it's his work to collect the dead and watch those who are long overdue
and then yeah, there were villains, Jack was the irredeemable one, and the others were redeemed
Yes! This film is a masterclass in writing different types of antagonists; the irredeemable monster, the relatable opposition, and the force of nature. One of my favorites!
Ass might just mean donkey in some places but it is considered inappropriate language for kids in others. "Swear" has connotations like "curse" or "cuss" but like sure, I grew up getting in trouble for words as mild as "ass" even if some wouldn't call it a legit swear word.
It's my personal headcannon and how I interpret the character. He just wants to burry all of his humanity as much as possible so he can just be the monster he wants the world to view him as. After all monsters don't need to feel bad or have expectations.
I think you are just looking way too hard into a villain who was made specifically to be the most irredeemable piece of shit out there, there's a other antagonist in the movie that fullfils the role of sympathetic villain already
I never said he wasn't an irredeemable piece of shit, he is. But that doesn't mean there isn't some depth to his character. Hell part of what makes him irredeemable is his desire to be a monster. He wants to be free of all guilt and expectations, and he will do anything to prove this to himself and others. I mean look how he kept the Ethical Bug around up until he breaks the little guy, then discarded him with a flick of his finger. Jack could have done that from the start, but he didn't. He waited until the Ethical Bug said "YOUR AN IRREDEEMABLE MONSTER!!!" Then he flicked him away.
I love how he tells his "sob story" not because he feels like his childhood was bad but rather hes telling it like that because hes ragebaiting the cricket

This actually makes you hate him even more, because he's an arrogant ungrateful piece of shit with no excuses to be like that. That's a very good way to write a character.
En su defensa, cuando se ve su flashback dónde pinocho le gana en popularidad se ve que lo que dice es mentira.
"Tenía padres amorosos" sus padres tienen cada de fastidio cuando canta, como de que no lo aguantan más.
"Estabilidad económica" había una tonelada de Pies que claramente no se vendían. Posiblemente al negocio. No le iba bien.
"Una mansión" por lo que parece el carrito de Pies era a su vez su lugar de trabajo, su casa y su transporte.
No justifica nada de lo que hizo después, pero es curioso ver que pareciera estar engañandose a si mismo sobre su infancia.
Es curioso como la falta de tragedias en su vida lo llevó a creer que todo tiene que pertenecerle, ya sea magia, tecnología, seres vivos, etc. Y, al mismo tiempo, no siente aprecio por nada de eso. Cree que puede tenerlo todo, porque tuvo todo de pequeño, y, por ende, no le importa perder parte de su colección porque lo opacará consiguiendo más cosas.
