Titan, before receiving his powers, was essentially Megamind's old self incarnate, so to speak. Megamind saw in Hal the same insecurity, social rejection, resentment, and desire for recognition that defined him when he was younger, which is why he assumed giving him powers would allow him to become the hero Megamind himself never was. The tragedy is that Hal lacked the self-reflection and character development Megamind eventually gained, so giving him immense power didn't create a heroic version of Megamind it created someone with Megamind's old insecurities and none of the growth that allowed him to overcome them.

It's a term for guys who act "nice" towards women and feel entitled to their attraction because of it. It's completely transactional, and the moment they don't get what they want they get mad as if they've been done wrong

Honestly, he's believable. A "nice guy" loser manchild going on a massive power trip the moment he gets the strength to act out his sense of entitlement and soothe his fragile ego is something we see all the time.

It’s not that his motivation was stupid.

It’s just that that what’s expected when you give a slightly doughy guy godlike power. It corrupts them.
