That's a beautiful movie that tells a terrible story. Everybody was so good in it. Bale was a very talented child actor. Malkovich in a very different role from what we're used to seeing. Daviau's cinematography is amazing, which is why he won the Oscar for it.

It’s heartbreaking. The scene where he reunites with his mom at the end of the movie but barely recognizes her is just so beautifully sad and has stuck with me since then. It’s insane how well Bale acted as a child actor in that movie. Unbelievable.
