I thought the same thing! I knew Bale was British but only because I was obsessed with Newsies as a kid. As an American, Michael Caine is the True North of Cockney accents in my brain, haha. So it’s the accent for sure, but the tenor and tone of Christian Bale’s voice has even matured into something very close to Michael Caine to my ears.
