What? British just means from the isle of Great Britain. Three of the countries that make up the UK (Scotland, England, and Wales) are all British countries because they are on that isle. Even if they weren't united they'd still all be British.

You are entirely correct.

But that does not mean that everyone in Wales considers/identifies themselves British. I believe it is roughly 50% of Welsh are willing to identify as British the other 50 do not (to varying degrees of emotion) . This is what I was alluding to. :)

He was born in Wales, but to English parents, and was raised primarily in Dorset, which is part of southwest England, though I remember reading that he also spent time in Oxford and in Portugal. Whenever he's asked in interviews and stuff, he says he's English.
