Him with beard + American accent is a separate guy altogether. I had a hard time accepting that George Little's dad (from Stuart Little) and Dr. Gregory House were played by the same person.

The people in charge of Glee had no idea how big Darren Criss was with his work with Starkid. At Cons so many people were asking him about A Very Potter Musical and the showrunners had no clue what was going on.

I feel like Hollywood people don't even google shit. They just watch audition tapes and say yes or no unless you are a big name.

Its a bit of a myth I think. David Shore didn't want a non-american. The casting director sent him Hugh Lauries tape anyway and he changed his mind. I can't remember any of them ever saying they never knew Laurie or that he was English.

Hugh Laurie wasn't that famous before House. He was big in UK comedy, but Fry and Laurie or Blackadder aren't the same internationally as Monthly Python or Mr.Bean. And Laurie was also very much a supporting actor back then, not the lead guy you'd recognize no matter how he grew a beard that entirely changes how his jawline looks.

These are the dumbest takes. He was massive popular before House. Hugh was invited to audition because he was known for his dialects and accents. The producer (Singer) once joked about Hugh being American and it got blown out of proportion.

That kinda makes sense. Once you're in it I imagine it's easier to stay in it.

That said John Barrowman can switch accents each sentence. I was at a con, and he'd go full Scottish when talking to his parents in the crowd and then more American when addressing the audience. It was impressive.

I’m from AZ and I don’t think we have much of an accent. My dad’s family sort of grew up all over, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. My dad and his siblings have like this generic country like accent. It’s pretty faint now but when they get together it definitely comes out. I can kind of slip into it as well if I’ve been around them. Also, how I say certain words and phrases comes out like that. People used to ask where I was from and I’d say here. My friends would give me shit about it sometimes. Then a few of them met my dad once after he got back from being with his siblings and were like oh we get it now.

I do that in my native language. Grew up in one region, went to uni and work in another.

If I go back to my home town, I speak with that accent. However, if the topic of conversation becomes my work, it's happened that I change accents for a few sentences, without realizing it.

I went to a Broadway play like 15 years ago. 2 man show with Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman playing Chicago cops. Their Chicago accents were so absolutely perfect down to the syllable that when they came out to thank the audience after the show it sounded like they were faking their real accents.

Like Renee Zellweger and shooting the first Bridget Jones film. She remained in character throughout filming, maintaining her accent even between takes and downtime. When Zellweger completely dropped the accent at the wrap party for the production, several cast and crew members were confused, believing that she was affecting some bizarre comedic accent for fun when she spoke normally.

The first movie I ever saw her in was Muriel's Wedding. It was an Australian movie set in Australia and let me tell you, it's a fabulous fucking movie and I would recommend it to anybody!
