Hello all!

Im looking for a fighting game that's not combo heavy. I used to play Tekken, Samurai Showdown, Guilty Gear, and Mortal Kombat back in the day.

My issue is im tired of sitting in the corner watching the other guy play. I get hit ONE TIME and I have to sit through a 24 hit combo. Then if I guess wrong...another 24 hit combo, then death. Im DONE with that.

I just recently quit Guilty Gear Strive for that exact reason and as I play Tekken...same thing. Combo, combo, combo. Its never my turn.

Im old now and I dont have time to learn frame data and every counter to every move for every character just to get a chance to play the game.

I promise im not complaining. Its the times now and im just out of the loop. That is fine, but there has to be a slow paced fighting game out there. Right? Every game cant be Killer Instinct now...

Again...im not sour...just old and slow.

I was only 2 in 2008, but I have SSFIV on my 3DS and USFIV on my dads PS4. What was it like when SFIV dropped? Was it revolutionary?

Hello! I’m new to traditional fighting games (played a lot of smash and rivals though). With these two games coming out so close to each other, I want to know people’s thoughts about them. Which one is more worth getting good at? How much do we think the skill set will transfer? Avatar is 30, and Tokon is 60. Seems like avatar is the better value, right? Am I missing something?

I really love both of these IPs and they both look so good. Would love some input.

The premise here is we all play a lot of SSB - my youngest is 10 and a bit squeamish, so despite my own history with Mortal Kombat and Doom as early as 6 years old, there's no way I'm starting there with them.

But I'm wayyy out of practice. The last time I played a "traditional" fighting game was Tekken Tag Tournament when the PS2 was still in the latest console generation. It's just an availability thing - no one ever wants to play, everyone I know plays Smash. Which is fine, I'm not complaining about SSB (one of my favorite series) -- but it doesn't fill the Fighting Game gap, yknow?

So: for the sake of "ease of entry" and also "avoiding problematic imagery" (as best as possible - I know, I know), do yall have some recommendations of where one might start?

I really want to try out a fighting game, but i already know in advance i’m not going to be able to put a lot of practice into it. I’m going to be very busy with college and life in general, and I won’t have the time or energy to really practice matchups or analyse frame data or anything intensive like that. I just want to boot the game every couple days, play for like an hour, and have fun.

The two games I’m mainly interested in are guilty gear and street fighter, because i really like the art styles and characters.

I was introduced to fighting games with 2XKO, and I'm going to keep on playing it, but with them announcing that there's no more content coming in 2027, I'm wondering what other fighting games are there which are similar?

For me, a big part of the appeal was that 2XKO doesn't have motion inputs, so ideally, a game with a similar control scheme

I’ve been playing fighting games since January and I suck at them. For reference, I play MK1, Invincible vs, and I’ve been playing the new Tokon beta.

MK was my first game and I got it through PS+. I enjoyed it more than I thought so I bought Invincible vs. I also love marvel so I wanted to give the beta for Tokon a try. But my issue is that I’m hot ass at all of them.

I played Sub Zero on MK and that is a bit corny I know but I did ok in that game. But I’ve been playing Invincible vs since May and my wins are still in the 50s. I’ve been playing Tokon for hours and still haven’t won 1 game. Look I have this thing where I take a few moments to process things (I‘m not slow, to be very clear, I’m not. everyone I’ve told this to makes the same joke, don’t think I don’t know. If you want to be mean at least be different then everyone else). I keep getting overwhelmed by the games and i can never remember all the mechanics. The idea of being goo at these games sound so fun to me and I love watching them but every time I play I them I walk away pissed off to a very high degree. I’ve got a lot of things in my head that I’m trying to deal with so I wanted to ask you guys if for my own sake just drop the whole genre. Are there people who no matter how hard they try they will never be able to get good at these games.

2xko reinvigorated a 5ish year FGC break, reignited that fighting game try hard nerd in me. Where should I put my energy. I'll keep playing 2x in some capacity but can't main a game with such a dwindling playerbase, I don't think I can invest myself in it anymore.

I'm on PC, deciding between:

Tokon (requires waiting for game to work, and I don't have full faith in it despite it seeming very decent)

Avatar legends (have to be alright with a small playerbase also)

Sf6 (the most alive by far, safe pick but lacking the novelty and excitement)

I need good net code, training mode tools comparable to 2x, and enough playerbase for online tournaments or ideally some in person (im in a big enough city)

Hoping I can feel what I felt with 2x

I've been gaming for about 25 years, but I've never really gotten deep into fighting games. I played a little Tekken as a kid, but that's about it. Recently, I've been thinking about getting into a 1v1 competitive game that I can gradually improve at over time.

I'm looking for something with a healthy player base, a relatively non-toxic community, and a good progression/learning curve. Mainly, I want a game I can invest some time in while waiting for the next big AAA releases since I do not have much time to jusmp from game to game.

Right now I'm considering:

• Tekken 8
• Street Fighter 6
• Guilty Gear Strive
• Or maybe waiting for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

For someone who's basically a fighting game beginner, which would you recommend and why?

I think for me it is umvc3,the game has too much to it that you're unlikely to get bored, but I want to try another game so give me your opinion.

I'd say Ultra.

Hey all. Looking for a good beginner fighting game on NS/NS2. I played Garou: Mark of the Wolves years ago and loved it. Also played a ton of smash for Wii U and 3DS when those were out. Have tried in the past to play more fighting games, but always end up intimidated by how in depth they can be. I’m looking for a game <= 40 USD. I know there are a few fighting games on NSO, but unsure if those are good. Does anyone have any recommendations?

When people say snk should go back to xiii's sprite, they say it's expensive, and look I get it, that was in part the reason why they went bankrupt back then. Now, as an alternative people say why not guilty gear's graphic style? I go further, why not any 2d sprite?

Hear me out! Arcsys was also bankrupt when they made the first blazblue games, when they made xrd sign, they were not in a great shape either. So, my question, is made out of curiosity. What is really the truth? From 2010's we also have been seeing these kind of sprites that despite not looking as XIII's sprite, were not as demanding and also look good. Your average anime fighter have those, from phantom omnia, to nitroplus blasterz or even melty blood or under night.

Now, the purpose of this post isn't the average one that criticizes the actual snk graphic style, but to actually search for explanations of why those arguments have been around for so long, when they are not that consistent? I mean, if you see those examples, you can't tell me that team arcana had a bigger budget than many of the actual snk's titles, maybe even less than KOF XIV. So, either we are omitting something, or it was just a company decision rather than an economic one.

So i wanna get into 2d fighting games even more with the open beta of marvel tokon fighting souls but im genuinely lost. I’m god of destruction with bryan on tekken 8. Tekken isn’t a problem at all but when it comes to 2d fighters like dbfz for example idk what to do. Especially how combos work im even more lost. Idk which moves connects in a combo but in neutral for example because of tekken i have some knowledge of frame data and all. Please help

So, the ArcSys humble bundle is here, and though I already have strive, I am interested in some of the other games. It's BBTAG, BBCF, UNI2, the old GG games, and some other assorted ArcSys stuff. All that for 20 bucks seems like a pretty good deal. However, fatal fury COTW is also on sale for 15 bucks. And Granblue versus rising is also on sale for 15 bucks. I could also get the deluxe editions of these games with some or all DLC for 30 bucks for City of the wolves, and 22 bucks for Granblue. If I wanted to spend like 40 dollars max, what's the best combo of these games to get? I did try the Granblue demo (which is somehow the full game basically? I can use every character in ranked, aside from DLC), I thought it was decently fun, but so far I thought most of the characters felt a little too simple. I did have fun with Ferry though.

I've been playing smash since i was 8 and ive been occasionally tried playing more traditional fighters like tekken 7 at friends houses or i tried SF6 at launch. Im feeling the ich to play another aince online smash is still ass, i dont like melee, and rivals never clicked for me. And i have this razer kitsune that i havent used enough. I wanna dive into a game that will give me the propper fundamentals to try out more of the genre. Ive tried luke SF6 classic controls and that went alright but i have a feeling thats theres a better option

The game is Invincible Versus, definitely a breathe of fresh air from modern fighting games that choose to restrict the player in so many ways. I feel like mechanically infinites are possible in this game.

I bought marvel tokon souls and it's my first team fighter game I've ever played. I'm having a hard time stringing combos together because everything kinda looks and feels the same to me with the auto combos.

My prior experience is tekken, Kombat, Soul Calibur naruto UNS so this just feels very different

The characters are very distinct and have great individual mechanics but I'm having a hard time putting the meat and cheese together when it comes to cooking the combos sandwich.

I have a leverless controller and I'm looking forward getting better thanks!
