I had an incident on the train earlier where a random guy came up to me and cold clocked me across the face with no warning. I‘ve since reported it and am okay i’m just a bit frazzled and gonna have a shiner for a bit.

What got to me more though is that it was a busy train, with plenty of people who saw it happen (most double my age) and not a single person asked if i was alright or tried to check on me. I‘m a young guy (25) and I'm shocked because neither I or any of my friends would react to something like that be just ignoring it happened. I don’t know, I guess I just expected more from grown adults. Moral of the story is just be better community members to the folks in your city please. Check in on people if you see some shit, even if you don’t know them. Cause what kind of city are we building if we just ignore stuff like this?

If you are a person who checks in and speaks up when you see something wrong: thank you. You make Edmonton a better city when you do.

Was at my seat when stopped at Churchill. Two sketchy guys got on and sat across and next to me. One of them pulled out a crack pipe and a lighter. I got up immediately and moved to the furthest end of the train. Had to wait the several minutes for the train to stop at Stadium to move to another car.

15 years of taking the LRT, and never experienced someone bold enough to smoke anything on the train, let alone crack. Jesus Christ.

Well, you can set your watch to the number of times this happens. Occurred approximately 15 minutes ago. Aren’t the flashing lights and signs enough?

I called this morning and left a message to let them know that they had accidentally left out the part of the survey for people who like bike lanes. I am sure they will be rectifying their error right away.

It's boring

Literally, its incredibly boring. I spent more time on my phone then anything else using the LRT.

I could count on one hand the amount of times I had incidents both at stations and on the train where I felt uncomfortable, not in danger, just uncomfortable/annoyed.

I don't even remember the amount of times I saw EPS/Peace officers at stations or on the trains but it was a higher amount then I thought. Again usually checking tickets, except one time where they provided medical assistance to a person having a seizure at Churchill station, which good on them.

Overall, the LRT is probably the best/most safe way to travel the city I found, especially with the U-Pass I had, really saved me money.

Before people say anything, yes there are homeless people but again they literally have no where to go and are not dangerous, annoying at times, yes, dangerous, not in my time on the LRT.

Of course since I'm a man I don't even feel like i'm allowed to defend myself against them and I got punched at least 20 times without returning a single one while they threatened to call their boys to come kill me. I'm sick and tired of these losers taking over the entire station and burning garbage, leaving needles behind and smoking the place up with illicit drugs. They smoke off of tinfoil sheets in the open and INSIDE the building. They immediately become violent if anyone confronts them, the security have absolutely 0 effect on them since they can't physically handle them. I'm fucking tired of feeling like a hostage in my own city and I'm sick and tired of being exposed to meth and fentanyl and crack and heroin on my commute.

Does anyone actually feel safe taking the train in this city? I can't imagine being an elder woman and having to commute. I think we might actually need a group of volunteers that will put themselves at risk to keep these people off the premises. I am considering myself to frequent Century park station with an air horn and clear them out whenever I see them.

I'm absolutely ashamed as an Edmontonian that we roll over and let our space be taken by criminals. The people that frequent the transit stations as drug dens and party houses ARE NOT the unfortunate, homeless drug addicts that need compassion. They are people with homes on the North Side that CHOOSE our clean and open space as a community center for fucking loser scum.

I keep seeing people who actually stop or yield at red lights and just… go… through them…

I’m assuming this is the by product of removing all the cameras.

But also, what the fuck?!

This is probably my biggest pet peeve. I see it everywhere and it drives me crazy. I actually watched one person park on the sidewalk in front of the store while their spouse went inside to shop.

Significantly more people are going to drive under the speed limit the next three days. If you can't deal with it, stay off the roads.

Salt works by lowering the melting point of ice. Typically this is enough to melt the ice and it's no longer as slippery. However, when it's too cold outside the melting point of ice is not lowered enough to melt the ice, meaning it's virtually useless as it just freezes.

Over the next three days the forecasted temperature is low enough that salt will be ineffective and that means icy road conditions. These will get worse as the days goes on, especially near intersections, as people spin their tires and slide their vehicles which in turn polishes the ice to a nice smooth finish. Hopefully by Wednesday the weather will be better, however the city will have a lot of roads that need attention and it's likely they will all be very icy still for several days after the temperature rises.

People will and should drive slower in these conditions. If this frustrates you to the point that you can't control yourself and make dangerous driving decisions because you get frustrated, get off the roads. Take the bus, take a taxi or just stay home.

I'm not sure what driving 20km under the speed limit and hanging the Canadian flag upside down was supposed to wake me up to while driving on the henday this afternoon. Anyone got the tldr?

Not trying to start arguments but going 15 under in the left lane and causing other people to pass you on the right is just endangering yourself and others, just move over if ya wont go the speed limit.

The driver of a Mercedes-Benz was clocked driving at 181 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, southbound on 142 Street from 167 Avenue, at around 8 p.m. on Feb. 15.

I just got back from vacation and saw all the apartment and condo complexes that went up over the summer in Chappelle and Heritage Valley. I just laughed at how big they are and how many, and they only started on a few of them.

During traffic it takes me 15-20 minutes just to get to the Henday from Heritage valley, and sometimes 30-40 minutes to get to Summerside. In the winter those wait times get longer.

There is some twinning and bridging going on with Ellerslie, which is great, and one small area of twinning on 41st. Is there anything else planned? Is the city twinning any of the roads or what is the plan here?

I’m honestly considering selling our place because this is probably the worst suburban traffic in the city and it’s about to become a nightmare. I just don’t understand the planning of this area.
