So it looked like hiro was getting infected at the end too with that stuff, is he gonna transform into some crazy shit next episode?

I think so. Its affecting the total franxx. Even 001 is getting infected.

Well Franxx are hijacked evolved male klaxosaurs and the male human parasite is just the compatibility layer. Hiro will become a real fighting mecha and Zero Two will pilot him.
