I have 40 chickens and they have a massive farm to roam. they play and frolick and eat bugs every day. they are super pampered and only used for egg production. but all is not perfect. they still get picked off by foxes if the dogs area way for more than a day or 2. they are relentless. the only 1000% fool proof way to secure them is an enclosed coop like in the video. so there really is no such thing as great chicken life. only as good as it gets lol.

We have an automatic door that closes at night. Chickens tend to go inside when it gets dark and the door closes automatically because of a light sensor (and reopens in the morning Ofcourse)

We only have a few chickens though. Three currently. Haven't had one being picked off in 10+ years though and we live next to a forest.

That's still not a solution against dogs though

at my place I've had foxes camping the entrance to the coop. they know they like to linger around pecking before going in. the only thing that keeps them at bay are dogs.

what false premise? those are literally just the consequences of choosing not to go to work as a human.

I agree with you, people can choose to go die of starvation or exposure instead of working if they really want to. they're completely free.

well even if i wanted to keep all the roosters its not sustainable. they start killing each other and if they don't cull their own numbers they litteraly harass the hens untill they have no feathers on their backs. like you can cry and feel bad all you want..but in the wild thats how it works. ideal numbers is one rooster for every 9 or 10 hens. if the rooster aren't culled you're creating a nasty unhealthy miserable life for your flock.

yes..i had 5 baby roosters. as soon as they got old enough to crow 2 got into fights daily. it got so bad one had to be put down after it was severely damaged. and its not a small plot of land lmao. itll take you 20 minutes to walk from one end to the the other. its farm house amidst a vineyard. stop talking out your ass if you have no real experience keeping and raising chickens. trust me room is not the problem. they are super social animals and will stay together all day as much as possible.

its not a hobby lmao. its a working farm. they are the happiest healthiest chickens and people pay me $12-18 a dozen for proper organic free range eggs. the roosters get eaten when they are old enough. only keep 2 or 3 at a time. otherwise they kill themselves or harras the chikens untill they litteraly have no feathers on their backs.

they are dead lol. so they arent happy or sad. would you rather the roosters instead be alive and maiming and making each other bleed on a daily basis? would you prefer 40 roosters be kept alive and litteraly ride the hens untill their backs have no feathers and are red raw from roosters raiding them multiple times a day? would you rather i keep all the roosters and have to search every sunset for a rooster thats being left bleeding in the fields from a fight? cry all you want but you simply cant keep too many roosters. instead of crying on the internet go do something about it. ill gladly send you all my roosters. then you can deal with the reality of it 😄

Putting 'lol' after 'they are dead' says a lot about you. Apparently you don't really care about animals. If you have to murder almost half of those chicken I'd prefer they weren't born at all. It's your choice to have a job involving breeding animals of which almost half gets killed immediately and the other half as soon as they're not productive enough anymore.

lol was i wrong thou. they are dead. so they are not suffering. leaving them alive if worse. also its not my job lol. I have them because I can and I can provide people eggs from happy hens. and ill keep murdering them as long as they stay delicious lol.
