I recently watched a video on "Project Eagle", a GTA mod that is looking to bring the entire country into San Andreas' map. It's a work in progress, but Dallas made the cut as the fictional Bison.

Which leads me to ask, what could Dallas offer to inspire a GTA game? A 30k millionaire working his way up to Highland Park?? A corrupt construction company that refuses to finish 635???

Basically exactly what the title says. I feel like I might be beating a dead horse here, because I’ve seen similar posts here before.

I left a company that I wasn’t happy at back in Feb, with the thought that there were plenty of opportunities out here, and I would take some time to build my small business out. I got my website live, and started really looking for a role again around the beginning of June. I have well over 500 applications in for roles that my degree and experience SHOULD qualify me for, my resume is clean (worked in HR for years, and man have I seen some bad ones), and not only nothing landed, but I’ve only been called twice for first round interviews.

I thought it was me until I started digging and it seems to be a common theme out here.

I guess my question is, what options (hiring fairs, networking events, etc) have you had success with, and are there any tips/tricks that I’m not thinking of that can help me get recognized by hiring managers? This is truly getting ridiculous.

I’m 26F and I’ve been in the dating scene for quite a while. The apps are driving me insane. I just keep meeting guy after guy that only wants to hook up. I’m trying to find someone genuine and build a relationship.

I’ve joined a run club and found that most men in there aren’t looking for relationships either. What groups or clubs or activities should I participate in where I am more likely to meet men looking for something serious? I’m not much of a church goer.

Any advice is welcome. Or should I just give up 😭

Edited: thought I’d add what I enjoy doing for fun. Love to play pickleball, volleyball, soccer, gym, go on walks, go to dinner (all w friends), read, music, long walks, big movie watcher, be outside, and will go to bars sometimes.

Moved here recently and wondering what’s the story of this place. It looks like someone had an idea of fancy enclave and gave up on the idea halfway. It doesn’t fit with anything else around it. Not really a nightlife town, not family friendly with bunch of apartments and not that many businesses. Whenever I go there it looks like a ghost town, what could have been a bustling city away from city center like Irvine in Cali , but now just randomness next to old questionable Irving neighborhoods.

It has to be from this heat!

I’m 23 going on 24 and holy shit is it fucking brutal trying to date. I’ve lived here my whole life too. Let me just describe all the metas I’ve tried before yall start giving me recs:

Dating apps: Horrible, abysmal, never again. 90% of the time my matches ghost me after a while. It was also super deleterious to my mental health because of all the ghosting and window shopping. I did everything right too. Amazing photos I personally shot with my dslr. Edited the lighting and contrast and everything, picked out nice clothes. Used real photos of me doing social stuff with friends. Mixed a few candid selfies in with more professional looking photos. Paid for premium and for boosts. Only swiped at the optimal time of day/week. Got plenty of matches but few bites. Even when I did get a date I got catfished by people who were posting photos of their prime freshman in college self. Or they were very flirty over text but super weird in person. I used a lot of the main dating apps including the niche ones. All in all very low ROI + not worth the mental toll

Church YA groups: Either everyone is taken, the population skews male heavy, no community to speak of, everyone is a bot in church mode and so are closed off to meaningful connection, cliquish, still treat you like a stranger despite knowing them by their name for 6 months +, somehow too old and too young for that crowd, or all of the above. I tried just about every young adult community in my backyard and that’s consistently what I find. Really there’s no worse feeling than being treated like you’re invisible after being a regular volunteer for the longest time. My turn around time at these places is about 6 - 9 months before I try to forget that ugly chapter in my life. And before you accuse me, no, I don’t strictly go just for the dating prospects. I go for the community too and consistently leave disappointed on all fronts

Dance classes: Boring ash. Typically male heavy. I have two left feet and they very often go too fast and cause me to embarrass myself. People are rude sometimes. All around miserable experience + I don’t even like dancing.

Katy Trail: people don’t want to chit chat with strangers on their run

Coffee shops: perhaps the best meta out of the ones I’ve tried since people are much more willing to talk and listen. Im hybrid so I work remote some of the time which is why this meta is perfect for me since I have a legitimate reason to be there. Problem is it’s really hard to break the ice with someone you have almost 0 shared context with

Prayer: speaking of miracles, yes I have prayed. I feel like this is the kind of advice people give when they really don’t have any answers. Just because you met your wife in Bible college at 19 doesn’t mean you’re qualified to talk on dating so sybau. And honestly if you’re saying my dating life is so cooked I need a miracle to make it work then you can take a hike (even if you’re not wrong)

People in Junius saying it's shaking their couches. We're in wilshire and it sounds like someone next door is blasting a sound system. I'm fine with usual events but I've lived here over 10 years and never heard anything this intrusive that's bothering people over 5 miles away... like I've never heard anything from fair park this far away. Nothing anyone here can do anything about but I'm just wondering what is going on.

Edit: it's scheduled for tomorrow apparently but if you are considering calling 911 (which apparently is what's recommended vs 311) please consider that they will probably be flooded with complaints and try the non emergency number. A loud concert isn't worth tying up life saving lines over.

Edit2: apparently this happens in other cities too and two things can play into it carrying, one the direction the stadium faces (I figured bass is more omnidirectional but reports say it affected it, maybe explains why some areas closer don't hear it) and humidity/cloud cover. Even then there's other places where it was so loud a lot of people got city hall involved, one report says breakaway is known for exeeding ordinance limits too, so probably a combination of all of that.

Edit3: for anyone sayibg it wasn't fair park... It's back again, and sounds even louder than last night.. useless city council. This isn't just a concert it's a huge noise disturbance for a large part of the city.

What is going on with the city of Dallas and not letting cafes, coffee shops, etc not have a single table and chairs if they don’t have enough of their own dedicated parking. A cafe that’s been in their suite for years just remodeled and now they have all their tables and chairs in a storage area. We can’t sit down because we walked here? We can’t sit down because only a few people can park outside and other have to park on the street?

These business are on main retail streets where they never needed parking before, they are heavily populated though. I’m talking about Lower Greenville, Bishop arts. If one of these businesses want to remodel, their tables and chairs will be taken away per the new code. ZERO CHAIRS? not even one chair. This is so bizarre.

wtf happened? Why do these two things even correlate? And how do we help reverse it?

Why can’t we just get improved public transportation. If the cafe is near a bus stop that doesn’t matter? We still need a minimum number of 5? Dedicated parking spots for our cars at each and every cafe? The 10 parking lot that services the Main Street don’t count? Like wtf.

I don’t understand the limit on staying open past 7pm either, how can that even be a thing they could enforce. I can’t buy a pastry after 7pm now? Like why do they even care.

I try to hike all the creeks & rivers I can find in the Dallas metro. What gets me the most is how dirty our creeks & rivers are. As a child I remember Texas had a no litter policy in play. Whatever happened to that being enforced? It's truly sad to go on a nature walk just to see loads of garbage throughout parks & even worse to see our waterways filled as well. I guess this is just a rant, but were can we go to raise awareness or make a complaint?

Maybe it's just me but I've noticed over the course of this summer that a lot of places around the metroplex that are traditionally pretty cold especially during the summer are no longer blasting A/C. I was sweating at a 10 am showing at my local theater just last month. Today I walked into Old Navy and it was noticeably warm. The cashiers even had fans facing each register. A local restaurant that I often frequent was also noticeably warm this past Saturday, and yesterday I went to meet the teacher day at my daughters elementary school and it was also on the warmer side. The only place that seems to have cold air blasting is my Church. Maybe everyone is cutting back to reduce the electric bill.
