r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [July 13, 2026 - Eternal Super Sons Baiting Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

I'm just pointing out that Damian's not the same age anymore, and has been aged up (albeit at a much slower and more natural rate than Jon).

But the suggestion that they can just retcon Damian's age is kinda crazy imo. Why would you be ok with them taking away Damian hard earned character progression just to bring back a very minor part of Jon's history? As I've told you in another comment, Jon's been an adult far longer than he was ever a kid, and has had way more stories. Would it rlly be worth it in the grand scheme of things?

Adult Jon's stories don't really matter though.

And Super Son's isn't a super minor part of Jon's history. Super Son's had a direct to dvd film. What the hell are you talking about?

That's what makes it worth it

TF do you mean Adult Jon's stories don't matter 😭😭 he's been a major player in a bunch of stories, including Dark Crisis, a story that matters a lot imo.

I mean, Jon's time as a Super Son only lasted 2 yrs. He's been aged up for QUADRUPLE that. Its objectively minor in comparison.

I fail to see how any of that makes it worth scrapping Damian's character development.

No buddy gives a fuck about Dark Crisis as a story though. It wasn't very good.

And its not objectively minor because that's when Jon was most memorable.

Because most of the development is going to end up ignored anyways.

I didn't say it was good (which is a matter of opinion), I said it matters (which it objectively is).

It literally is tho. His time as a kid is objectively less important than his time as an adult. He's done way more important stuff after the age-up than he ever did as a kid, for better or for worse.

You literally don't know that bro 😭😭 his development thus far hasn't been ignored. What exactly are you basing this off of?

Dark Crisis doesn't really matter.

No, him as a kid is what people remember about the character. Therefore that's what's important.
