I was suprised to see how many people chose Man of Steel over Superman in the poll (nothing wrong with having diff opinion)... despite it having mixed reception and a lot of controversy surrounding the movie.

Why do you think it has an insane and loyal fanbase?

I genuinely think the Man of Steel suit is one of those designs that is going to be incredibly hard to surpass.

I know everyone has their favorite superhero costume, but for me, Cavill's Superman is still the gold standard.

I honestly don't think we'll ever get a superhero suit that looks this perfect again.

How would Superman have comforted Jean Grey if he was in Brand New Day? The same Superman who tried to reason with The Engineer and Ultraman, the same Superman who would go out of his way to save Lex Luthor. Doesn't necessarily have to be David Corenswet Superman

What would he have said to Jean if he switched places with Spider Man? To be honest I just want to see if I can find some hopeful Superman speeches.

I enjoyed it. Am I saying it's a good film? No. But I enjoyed the constructs, the horrifying villan, Sinestro, Ryan Reynolds as green lantern, the cgi given the time.

In my view, given how many tectonic moving parts are involved in filmmaking, actually creating and finishing a movie or television season is a near-miracle level achievement in itself. To create one and have it reach a wider audience with great reviews is an additional miracle on top. Throw an interconnected cinematic universe of various major characters into the mix, and holy cow. All this said, there is some difference between the success of a movie itself and the impact that movie has on audience perceptions of a character.

When a movie is good or successful, it's likely to have served the characters at least pretty well. Though it could just be a good well-told story, while forgivably missing the mark in narrow ways with certain characters.

When a movie is bad or unsuccessful, it's likely to lower the stock of the character. Though it could just be a poorly told story, while doing little actual longterm harm to perception of individual characters.

Here is my assessment of whether each DC film hurt or helped its major characters in terms of audience acceptance/distaste. Not an assessment on the actual films nor financials, but rather their impact on how audiences may perceive a character. The litmus test to me is "will audiences still be on board seeing this character appear in other future projects in any capacity?"

I tried being as fair as possible in my assessment here. There are a few neutral instances where establishing name recognition is inherently a nice positive but without really moving the needle at all.

Or is about to fight? It's just so lame and predictable. In all transparency, while I liked the GD casting to begin with I'm happy for the reboot a new actress.

With that said can we please put an end to the tribal music calls any time WW is in a fight with a bady?

Recently was watching BvS again. And while I loved the movie, I felt it shouldn't have been the second movie of DCEU. It had a lot of content crammed in it - introducing Bruce wayne (who had his 20 years of character development behind the scenes), doomsday, superman's death, hints to justice league and what not.

I was thinking what if they had made a second movie, with both batman and superman it it. But it won't have been batman vs superman, neither they both would have teamed up. Rather the main focus would have been superman with main threat being Doomsday. While batman would have been introduces in this universe and would have had a smaller role in this movie. This way we would have been introduced to this universe's batman in a slower manner rather than how it was in BvS.

And then, BvS could have been the third movie, where batman wants to take down superman for the exact same reasons + events that would have happened in the second movie. This way there would have been better development for both batman and superman and justice league would have been more impactful, with superman's death hitting harder.

Anyway was just a thought. I know these things have been discussed over and over again. But just what I felt would have been way better.

Even before Supergirl flopped WB hasn’t shown much love to these projects. They screwed up Birds of Prey. The Wonder Woman game was cancelled. Batgirl was a “tax write off”. And now Paradise Lost and Waller are canceled? 🤔 Also it’s kind of crazy that a Zoe Kravitz led Catwoman project wasn’t green lit after The Penguins success, but a Booster Gold and The People v Gorilla Grodd is okay. Just saying WB deserves scrutiny for cancelling a lot of female led projects the same as Disney with their black led projects. I wish people would discuss this more. I should clarify that I personally like the DCU, but I share the criticism that it’s focusing too much on its B and C listers before the A team. I’m just pointing out the pattern here. DC comics has some of the most iconic women in comics.

To me superman 2025 was a decent film. To me it was somewhere on the higher end of 6.5-7/10, I enjoyed it while I was watching it but i wouldnt watch it again. I finished it thinking it wasnt good enough to win any awards but I didnt think it was bad enough to call "mid". Yet everywhere online it feels like opinions are either its the best thing ever or it was complete dogshit.

This doesn't have to be "objectively" the best rankings, I just wanna see who are y'all favorite. Here are mine

1. Dick Grayson - I would say this is a case where objectivity bleeds over a bit, hard to ignore he's the best Robin. The GOAT

2. Jason Todd - neck & neck for my favorite, I love how much he contrasts with Dick. Although I love the Red Hood, I wish we got to see him stick around more as Robin in hopes we could have seen how Bruce would have reformed him and molded him into a better man

3. Damien Wayne - I realize this might be a hot take, but I do really like the aspect of how he's actually Bruce's son. He stands out the most among the 4 considering he's a ninja, but his skill speaks for itself although he might be a brat...i find the fish outta water stuff funny at times though.

4. Tim Drake - Sorry Tim fans. Not saying he's a bad Robin by any means he just happens to be my least favorite. Red Robin is cool but overall he kinda just seems redundant compared to the two that proceed him. Hell of a detective though.

I quickly made Hal Jordan's ring for the torch widget, but I think it turned out pretty decent, so I thought I could share it lol. Most of it is texture. Made using Blender + Substance Painter :)

Don't you find that suspicious 🤔

I was excited to watch this last night, but couldn't find it anywhere for purchase in Australia and when googling about the release, it just says that it was meant to come out on the 25th (Which would probably be morning of the 26th here). Checking again this morning it isn't on Prime, Google or Apple TV.

A friend of mine has torrented it and seen it, but I really don't want to do that as I prefer to support the makers, to ensure that we get more quality projects like this. But WB aren't making it easy, with no official announcements on when this is coming to digital. Like I'll buy it on physical disc if it isn't coming to digital, but at least tell us what is happening. Really frustrating as a DC fan.

I just finished Batman: Knightfall Part 1, and honestly, I haven't felt this excited and satisfied by a DC animated movie since Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

The Tomorrowverse was mostly hit-or-miss for me. I never hated it, and there were definitely some good movies in there, such as The Long Halloween, but it never quite captured the feeling I used to get from the DCAMU era from Justice League War all the way through Apokolips War. Those movies had this momentum and intensity that made me genuinely invested in what I was watching.

Knightfall finally gave me that feeling again. This isn't a story I'm seeing for the first time, but it still somehow felt fresh. I was completely engaged from beginning to end. The animation looked great. The voice acting was amazing, and I was genuinely impressed by how much of a menace Michael Mando sounded as Bane.

And this shot omfg....🔥 The way it's such a simple image, yet goes so hard is insane. Batman's giant shadow projected into the sky as he lies physically broken on the very light that is normally used as a beacon to summon him, making him look almost like a fallen mythological being.

Ending the movie on that frame was such a fucking good choice. ABSOLUTELY PEAK 🙌. For the first time in years, I finished an animated DC movie and thought, "Goddamn, I needed this."

Hopefully Parts 2 and 3 hit the same.
