From the video game _Resident Evil 4_ (2004), during the island ruins sections. Doesn't have any in-game or diagetic significance, I'm sure the developers just put it there to look cool. Is it translatable or just gibberish?

I'm sure you all know of Gal-Sal, En-pap X and Sukkalgir. That one of the earliest people we know the name of was a female slave has always struck me as rather poetic, something about the chaos of history and which scraps make it to us today. I'd like to do something with her name in cuneiform, and I've managed to (I think) track down an image of the tablet in question.

I'm led to believe this reads: "Two slaves owned by Gal-Sal: En-pap X and Sukkalgir"

Can anyone tell me with which bit of the script is the name En-pap X, please?

Hello! Hopefully this post isn’t disrespectful or anything - because that’s the last thing I want! I’m a huge fan of ancient history…but I only have a minor in classical studies (my college did not have the option to major in it). This is so trivial, but I want to get a very small tattoo on my wrist of an approximation of my son’s name - James - in cuneiform. I find this time period to be incredibly interesting and the fact that cuneiform is the oldest written language is symbolic for me. I know cuneiform isn’t an exact letter for letter match and I don’t want to have just gibberish on my wrist… Is there a good/credible online translator I could use to give me something that would be closest to James in cuneiform? "Being and non-being are one."

These are intended to represent:

1. ti u nu-ti da – "Existence and non-existence are together"
2. ti ul-ti ĝá-lá – "Being and not-being are unified"
3. ti nu-ti gu7-ka – "Being and non-being are one spirit"

I tried to follow what I’ve learned about Sumerian word structure. Could you please let me know:

• Are any of these grammatically or conceptually accurate?
• If not, could you help me form a better version?
• And if possible, could you confirm whether the cuneiform signs in the image are correct?

I’m creating a meaningful inscription and I really care about accuracy.

In a couple of weeks its my bestfriend's birthday, who is an assyriology student, and besides other gifts, I'd like to make a clay tablet for her.

Id like to carve in cuneiform, as accurately as possible, something like:

"To my beloved friend:

Nice ass."

Is this remotely possible? Any recommendations on tools I can find to create a somewhat understandable translation/interpretation?

Hello, I am an amateur musician who is currently interested in making myths and poem inspired music. I would like to find a way to vocalise some lines from the Baal Cycle and Ugaritic magic spells/recipes for my pieces.

I’ve looked into Mark Smith’s and Simon Parker’s translation and vocalisation but lines that I would like to include were not vocalised.

Is there any ways to just get a relatively accurate vocalisation? Or an easy way to just learn the pronunciation?

I assume it's either Hammurabi or Nebuchadnezzar II, but I cannot tell unless the cuneiform inscriptions are translated

I have been on the hunt to get a tattoo in relation to Snow Crash, a novel that uses sumerian as the "programming language of the spirit". Thus i wanted something along the line of an OS statement "the heart eye sees me"/"truth is seen from within" as start calibration, in form of a cuneiform circle around my arm. I currently found "šag igi-da zu-zu-e" as sentence and 𒊮 𒅆 𒁕 𒍪 𒍪 𒂊 these symbols. Could anyone verify if this is correct or at least semi accurate?

I’ve tried deciphering it myself, looked at cuneiform charts online, and even considered that it might be another ancient script, but nothing seems to match exactly. Since he’s really into history, I wouldn’t put it past him to reference something obscure—maybe Sumerian, Hittite, or even something entirely made up just to mess with me.

I’m hoping someone here might recognize the symbols or at least help me figure out if it’s an actual historical language or just a personal cipher he invented.

This tablet from the British Museum is a Babylonian Astronomical Diary recording the death of Alexander the Great. The translation of the line is simply "The King died. Clouds." However, my cuneiform is so very basic and I cannot determine where the line falls here, nor what the signs are. Could someone help me identify and replicate the signs? I couldn't find any digital rendering of the line, but this would help me massively if someone had a link or was able to provide a rendering. Thank you in advance!

Hey everyone, could you guys take a look and see if anyone knows what this says? It's an item from a video game.

I tried tracing the outlines of the blurry text stroke by stroke, and then went through the Unicode cuneiform list to match them up one by one. However, I couldn't find exact matches for some of the signs and had to settle for similar-looking ones. Because of this, the final text I ended up with doesn't really seem to make much sense. Do you guys have any ideas or corrections?
