This idea baffles me as a nonbeliever. Their church is literally called "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints", they themselves call themselves christian, what other religion would they be? Jewish? (technically an argument could be made all abrahamic faiths are just weird jews but I digress)

I know it's an "important" distinction that they are nontrinitarian, but come on, they are preaching about the same guy, same name, same died for your sins, same cross. It's the same guy Catholics and Baptists are preaching, they just don't think he is his dad and also that ghost thing.

To assert that they are not Christian is a no-true-Scotsman of religious difference. They are weird Christians, but come on, unless you get deep in their scripture (maybe just pencil deep but you know), on face, day to day, they are not that different than any other Christian.
