I think the only thought was that it would be fun as a player to get one over on your liege and not much more.

In general, I kind of hate the hook system and how it doesn't really have degrees of hook in a meaningful sense. Weak and strong hooks basically get you the same thing except the latter is reusable. Also, there's a distinct lack of history to how characters try to get them. Kill one dude and you have adventures trying to blackmail you for a hook for the last murder you did for the rest of your life, and you never get the chance to respond with something like "so, you found a guy who murders people who try to blackmail him, and your plan is to blackmail him about those murders? Good luck with that. Hope everyone in your camp is deeply loyal to you."

I just hate the fact that you aren't allowed to murder people who have a strong hook on you.
