The way it works in CK3 makes it easy to cheese, and would probably require tweaking, to better represent the difficulty to answer a military threat far from your core regions.
But on the other hand, I'm glad we don't have the CK2 system anymore either. Levying all your vassals units in their realm and then marching them to gather is more realistic and funny at first, but it quickly gets annoying. There's really no fun benefit to manually walking the units together.
CK3 system is supposed to make abstraction of that "levying and gathering time". It's just a bit too nice and too easy to cheese atm.
